Mathias slowly stood up after Tessa had walked through the hedge to the other side to have probably one of the scariest chats he could imagine. Stretching his leg that still stung a bit even after the powerful healing spell that was used on him. The good thing though, was he wasn't dying from blood loss anymore. Looking at the burning building he took a deep breath as he quickly made his way through the maze after Julius and the vampire that had tackled him to the ground.
Pushing his way though the brush he stood in front of the burning house as the heat of the flames slammed into him causing his skin to sting from the intensity. Clawing hungrily at the air the flames grew and grew bigger, and the heat growing even more intense. These were no ordinary flames. Seeing them up close Mathias began to realize that these were magical flames. These flames didn't depend on air to live. They only depended on having something that would burn. And these flames tended to last for hours even after their original target had been burnt out of existence.
Whoever had used the flames was a strong caster at that. And it was rare to see flames so hungry to eat away at physical matter. Having seen flames like this only once before Mathias took a deep breath as he began to look around for a sign of somebody living or dead. To use as a direction to find his intended target. As long as he could take her out this hunt would still be a success.
Looking down to the ground he noticed a few specs of blood on the ground that slowly led to the right. Who's blood was this? Mathias thought to himself before looking to the right and noticing the sky was in the process of transitioning from the moonlit night to a bright and sunny day. Had they lost time they didn't account for? Shaking his head he made his way to the right where eventually he was led to a clearing where he saw Julius standing there, but it was clear that he was shouting something.
Mathias looked more into the clearing where he saw the blonde girl with the vampire that had tackled him to the ground running towards her. Along with the sounds of combat singing through the chaotic air. Turning his attention to the combat he saw Ramses fighting the head of the Xeres house toe to toe like it was nothing.
The two of them were fighting like to opposing currents of water, each trying to over power the other. Trying to get a upper hand while they were also trying to maintain their own strength. It was a beautiful sight that drew Mathias in the longer he watched. Shaking his head as he forced himself to focus on the other vampires at hand, he glanced back to the three vampires who looked like they were getting ready to run away.
Seeing as Julius was the closest option for him to bring down Mathias took the chance while his back was turned Mathias ran towards him and tackled him to the ground hard, as he pulled out a silvered knife and pressing it down against the back of his neck as it began to burn with the contact. "You are going to sit here and watch as the head of the Xeres family dies. And then surely dear Julius, You will definitely be next." Mathias chuckled into his ear as he held the blade against his neck making sure that he couldn't move.
Mathias turned his attention to the sudden screams of pain that erupted from the battle as he looked and saw Jadamine ran through with Ramses' scythe as he swiftly raised her body into the sky and promptly slammed her into the ground where a loud thud radiated through the air. The force of the attack appalled him. How strong was that man?
The thoughts in his mind were quickly interrupted when the sound of gun fire rang through the chaos filled air seemingly silencing it for a moment as pain suddenly erupted from his shoulder, and other parts of his body as he quickly glanced up seeing the man and the girl suddenly vanish into thin air like they never existed.
Julius taking the chance as soon as he felt Mathias' hold loosen on him to force himself into a mist, before materializing back to his physical form a few feet away as he quickly looked to the man and Jadamine. Who was laying there miserable and clinging to life.
Julius clenched his fists together as anger flared through his entire being, starting to make his way to the man who had brought her to that state. As he walked towards the man a slow realization formed into his head. One that felt like a punch of a gut to realize.
She was already dead. The woman who had brought him here to discuss a union of their two respective clans. She was dead, and he could do nothing to save her. Knowing he could do nothing. He felt powerless, completely powerless. That alone hurt him more than the stake or the blade had.
Taking out a symbol into his shaking hand, Julius began to slowly mutter an incantation under his breath as his rage slowly turned to frustration. Frustration that welled in his eyes as he vanished from the chaotic battlefield.
Mathias slowly stood holding his body as it throbbed in pain, walking towards Ramses and the head of the Xeres family after having watched Julius vanish. He would get him another day. But now, it was time to finish the hunt he had been planning for months.
"The sun is almost up Mathias" Ramses slowly spoke as he glanced at her as he held her down with the scythe. "Shall we let her burn?"
Slowly kneeling down before Jadamine he gently lifted her chin to make her look at him. "Any last words before the light of God claims you. Jadamine Xeres, the queen of the night?" Mathias slowly asked her as he kept his back to the rising sun as her body slowly began to steam. About to burn in the light of the sun.
