Chapter 4

Jonathan took my hand in his, "you should go rest. I can handle putting them to bed." He looked to me sadly, "did I push you too hard this morning?"

I smiled, "Not at all, I wanted to." He nodded before kissing me and aiding me up to my feet. "Goodnight," I whispered before kissing him again and going to the bedroom.

Once the door was shut, I rushed to the bathroom. I violently threw up twice before laying on the cool tile on the floor. I knew that by tomorrow night, I would be unable to handle the pain, but I had to go to work normally tomorrow. I went to the bed and laid down, forcing myself to sleep.

I awoke in a rush as pain hit me. I rushed to the bathroom and began dry heaving but never threw up. I grabbed out my phone and texted Collen to come to my back door. When he responded that he was here, I quietly made my way to the back of the house. I slowly went out and shut the door.

Collen sat on the wooden bench near the garden in the yard. I rushed to him as he stood and embraced me when I collapsed in his arms. I began crying as he pulled me up to the bench and held me tightly. "It is coming quickly this time."

I nodded, but could not lift my head from his chest, "I had a stressful day at work, so it likely wore me out."

He kissed my forehead as I began shaking, "I am here for you; cry all you need to." I cried harder as he soothed me by stroking my hair. After a long period of time, I calmed down enough to stop crying. I leaned against him as I still shook.

"I do not know what I would do without you here."

He kissed the top of my head, "What are best friends for?"

I squeezed my arms around him, "I'm sorry I am so selfish."

He shook his head before resting his chin on top of my head, "Nonsense, I wanted to follow you. I couldn't leave you by yourself for eternity."

"I do not deserve such a wonderful friend."

"Neither do I."

I laughed slightly before sighing and sitting up. I looked to his blue eyes, "I plan to go to the hospital tomorrow night." He nodded before brushing tears off my cheeks, "I should go." He kissed my forehead before I went back inside and fell asleep.

Jonathan did not wake me until the kids had left and had already gotten out my clothes. I kissed him a thank you before getting ready and heading to work.

When I went in, Heather came to see me. "So, did anything else happen with lover boy?"

I shook my head, "Nothing, I think I got my point across."

She pouted, "No fun!" She whined before going to her cubicle. I quickly got to work, trying to finish all my projects so that I would not fall so far behind during my absence. Heather came and knocked on my cubicle, "Lunch?" She asked and I nodded, "Where to?"

"You want to go to the pizza place?"

"Let's go!" She chimed as I grabbed my purse and coat. I followed her outside and we began down the street. I was startled when I looked around the pizza place and saw Aaron and Cade sitting at a table talking.

I kept my eyes from them and followed Heather to a table only five down from the men. Luckily, Heather was seated so her back was to them.

We ordered before she looked to me, "So when do you and the boss leave?"

I took a sip of my water, "Our flight is tonight at 9."

"Is there something going on between you two?" She asked and I laughed so hard, tears came to my eyes.

"Heavens no! I am actually a friend of his husband."

The straw in her mouth fell out as her jaw dropped, "the boss is gay?"

I nodded with a smile, "You couldn't tell?"

She shook her head, "I had no clue!" She said loudly as others turned to us.

I put my hand over her mouth as I chuckled, "Calm down, you're so loud."

She sighed, "I'm going to go to the bathroom." I took another sip of my drink as she left the table. My head shot up as I felt the presence of another full-blood. I saw Aaron and Cade's head turn also. I felt relief as I saw Ty walking over to me.

He sat in the chair beside me before wrapping his arm around me and resting his head on my shoulder. I gently brushed his hair out of his face, "I do not know if I can make it through the rest of the day. I am on the verge of collapse."

I kissed his head, "Don't push yourself. Maybe you should take the rest of the day off."

He shook his head but then looked to my eyes. He set his hand on my cheek, "Are you alright? You look very pale."

I leaned into his hand as I put mine on top if it, "I am struggling, but I think I can make it. I plan to go to the hospital tonight. Will you be going too?"

He shook his head before kissing my forehead, "I have others taking care of me. Let Luther take care of you. Your condition is much worse since you have been like this for a long time."

I nodded, "I am not sure how much longer I can take this."

He chuckled, "You say that every few years."

I smiled before letting go of him, "You should go back. Heather will think something odd if she sees you with me."

He nodded before standing, "See you later." I nodded before watching him leave. I let out a sigh before taking another sip of my drink. Heather soon returned to the table and the food was brought out to us. We ate quickly before leaving, but I noticed both men's eyes watching me the entire time. We made our way back to work and I rushed to complete all that I could. I began feeling faint and decided to leave. I waved to Heather as I left and called Jonathan. I got to my car and was beginning to shake.

"Hello?"

"Hey, could you possibly get the kids from school?"

Jonathan paused, "Sure, that won't be a problem. But are you alright? You don't sound good."

I sighed, "I think I need to go to the hospital. I keep feeling like I am going to faint and I'm feeling ill."

"If it is getting that bad, you should go to the hospital. I will try to come by tonight to bring you some things. Since they usually are kept for a few days, I will bring you what you will need."

"Alright, thanks. I will call you later. I love you."

"I love you too." Jonathan hung up the phone as I doubled over in pain. I took a few deep breaths, sat up, and quickly drove myself to the hospital. I asked for Luther when I arrived at the hospital and he met me down in the lobby.

He saw how sickly I looked and quickly brought me up to his office. He placed me in hidden medical room within his office. Luther aided me in laying on the bed as I began crying. He quickly called for a nurse I knew well. She was a half-blood that always aided me when I was here. She put in an I.V. and began giving me medications through a drip as Luther instructed her. When she was finished, the pain medication made me comfortable enough to lie down. Luther brought a chair to the side of my bed and held my hand.

"Ty said you looked bad today, but not like this."

I held back tears, "It suddenly became unbearable a few hours after I saw him last."

"Do you feel like you are going to go into the main stage soon?"

I nodded, "It should start by the end of the night. I'm beginning to feel hot and flustered."

"Should I call Collen or Chris?"

"Chris is out of town. Can you call Collen?" He nodded before leaving me in the room. I turned off the lights and curled into a ball as I started to cry. I felt tremors coming through my body and I felt hotter.

I was startled when the door opened asmore than Luther stood at the door. I was horrified to see it was not Collen. "Two of your friends wanted to see you. Are you alright to have them in here?"

I forced my body to stop shaking before sitting up to look to them, "For a little bit, it is fine." Luther gestured for Aaron and Cade to come into the room. He shut the door behind them as they grabbed chairs and began moving towards me. "Stop." I whispered as they froze and looked to me. "That's close enough."
