Chapter 5

It's been about two weeks since I started living here, and I had completely forgotten that I needed to go out and find a job so I could pay rent, which wasn't cheap, either. I don't think I'll be able to pay it off in time. I decided that I needed head out into the city to see if there's anyone hiring.

I guess today was my lucky day, cause I found a 'For-hire' sign in front of a convenience store. I went in for an interview, and about an hour later came out with a job. I start next Monday, so, I have about five days to ready myself for this job.

Five Days Later...

I was busy putting new coins in the cash register, so when I looked up, I was surprised to see Neighbor Dood (Which, I found out recently that his name is Alex) standing there. "Heeyyy, Newbie, I didn't know you worked here!"

"I just started today."

"Ah, well, now I know where to go whenever I need to buy my Instant Ramen, hahahah."

"Oh, okay... Your total will be $3.62."

"Aww, come on, you know me! You should give me a discount!"

At that, I looked at him, questioningly.

"For Instant Ramen?" I asked with a hint of laughter.

"Well, for any other time I come here and spend over $15." He smiled, grabbed his stuff, and left the store. 'Okay, well, that was weird...'

I got home late, and all I wanted was to sleep, but if course, I had homework to finish. It was only Math, so I got it done quickly. I went to the bathroom to take a quick shower, changed into a T-shirt, brushed my teeth, and got into bed.

I was awoken by a loud banging on my door at 4:00 AM. Angrily, I got up to answer the door. When I opened it, I was shocked to see Alex there, shirtless, and seemingly drunk. "Heeyyy, Libby, you shouldn't answer the door looking that hot," He said, making me blush furiously.

"S-Shut up. What do you want this early in the morning?"

"Heh, funny you should ask. I came here for yoouuuu"

"Okay, I know you're drunk, so go home and sleep, alright?"

"Naahhh, I don't know where I put my keys, so I was hoping I could stay here tonight."

"Uhm, I don't really think that's a good idea, Alex..."

"Oh, come on. What's the worst that could happen?"

"Well, for starters, you are a drunk dude, I am an innocent girl. I don't think that's a good mixture."

He looked at me with sad puppy dog eyes, "Pleeeasseee, Libbyyyy?"

He looked really sad, and really cute at the same time, I just gave in. "Fine. But you're sleeping on the couch, got it?"

He smiled at me, looking really happy. "Thanks Libbyyy," and with that, he walked into my living room and fell onto the couch. I walked back into my room and turned the light off, then got back into bed.

I woke up at 7:00. I went into the bathroom to take a shower once more. I had forgotten that Alex had stayed the night over here, cause when I walked back into my room, wearing only a towel, I screamed and ran back into the safety of my bathroom.

"Oh, come on, sweetheart, it's just me, your hot neighbor, Alex!"

"Please, get out of my room, so I can change," I said, breathlessly.

"Aww, you're no fun. Fine, I'll get out, but I'm taking you to school today, and I'm not taking no as an answer."

"Whatever makes you leave, I don't care."

I had decided that, for today alone, I'd try to look cute. I found the outfit that my friend, Ellie, had suggested I wear sometime. It consisted of a long-sleeved, white shirt, to go with my maroon colored skirt and fishnets, wearing a pair of matching maroon Converse. I then out on some mascara and clear lip gloss, cause why the heck not :)

I walked out the door and locked it behind me. Alex walked up behind me, and when I turned around, it scared the hell outta me. "Jesus, Alex! Don't do that!" I said, blushing from embarrassment.

"Well, look who dressed up today. I'm warning you though, I'm picking some of my friends up, so if they harass you, that's your fault."

"Which is why I'll just ignore them. Simple as that."

"Okay, whatever you say, sweetheart."

I sat in the back of his car, took my phone out, and started scrolling through my Instagram feed. I didn't realize there were other people in the car, cause when I felt an arm go around my shoulder, I froze. "Hey there, cutie. What's your name?"

"Oh, shut up, Jack. Just leave her alone." Alex told his friend, in which he did.

His other friend, Gabe, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, snickered. "Yeah, don't talk to his girlfriend like that, Jack." He was sitting there, laughing his head off, while Alex just sat there and drove, his face turning a little red, probably due to his anger.

We reached the school, and I quickly got out of Alex's car and walked towards the building. I kind of regretted my decision of wearing this though, because of all the people staring at me. Ellie ran up to me, looking really happy and excited for some reason. "Omg, Libby, you look amazing. Why don't you dress up like this all the time?"

"You know I don't have the money, El. I barely even had enough to pay the rent this month. What makes you think I could afford stuff like this?"

"Uh, duuhhh! You let me take you to the mall on your birthday and let me spend money on you! When's your birthday again? Next week, right?"

"Ellie, shhh! I don't want people to know that..."

"Sorry, Libby. Just got lost in the moment. Anyways, why'd you decide to wear that today, anyways? Today the day you finally admit your feelings to someone whom I don't know you like?" She waggled her eyebrows as she asked that question.

"Oh, no, nothing like that. I just thought I should try today, that's all. I hate getting all those weird looks like I look like I gave no fashion sense."

"Yeah, okay, will let you be. For now. Byyeee!"

I started heading to class, since the bell was about to ring, and I didn't wanna be late for class.
