The three of us got to the bus stop and sat down to wait for the bus.
"Hey William? How did you and Ms. Alice become shadows? W-what happened?" I asked hesitantly.
William looked at me and dropped his head. I could see the sadness in his eyes as he tried to piece the words together.
"If you don't want to say, it's alright William. I understand."
He lifted his head to look up at me and dropped his head once again. "Well, you see, it was a day like any other. Our home. The beautiful bright sky and the beautiful clouds. Where I come from, there is no dark night. The night is bright from the light of the moon and stars. It was peaceful. One day we heard about-" he paused and a tear rolled down his cheek. "We heard about your parents Lily. They were attackted. Everyone had to leave the Kingdome of Light. No one was safe. The nights became darker and more dangerous. Alice and I were with mother that day and we had gotten the news too late. We all ran but mother fell. She was too weak to continue running but she told Alice and I to keep going. She told us to find the golden bow and the arrow of light, because the one who holds the power of the sun and moon, could save us all. Alice and I ran until we made it here, to this place. We thought we were safe because shadows don't usually come here but they found us. After running for so long, we couldn't escape. I had to watch Alice as she was consumed by the darkness."
"Willam, do you really think I'm the one?" I looked down to see my hands resting in my lap. "Do you really think I could save everyone?"
William looked over to me. "Lily, you saved me. You have the bow. I believe you are the one who can save us all." He placed his hand over his heart and looked up to the sky. His green eyes glowed brighter than before. "You can hear it, can't you. The beat of a heart, trapped in the shadow of hate. Only one person has such power. Lily, we need you. We need your help. Please don't give up on us."
I sat there silently, not sure how to respond. The bus came. We got on and the bus began to move. After being attacked on a bus before, I didn't really feel comfortable. I was cautious the entire ride to the hospital, with only one question circling through my mind. Why me?
