Warning shot

Edith

September 26, 1:00

It's health class and all four of us are scattered in the room. I sit in the front, taking notes and really paying attention, Aubrielle is taking notes but looks mildly confused about what the teacher is teaching, Miles is in the bathroom, and Josh sits one seat, horizontally behind me. Everything was normal until a sudden gunshot was heard down the hall, a girl screams for two seconds, everybody jumps. "Everybody, stay calm and go hide" Tge teacher whispers, but loud enough for everyone to hear. The three of us go into a big cabinet on the floor. There aren't any dividers and all the spaces in the cabinet have nothing in or on it.

"I thought these murders stopped." Josh whispers, looking over to Aubrielle who is crying, hugging her knees. The cabinet is big enough for the three of us to sit in it.

"What's wrong?" I ask, sitting in between the two of them.

"Miles is out in the halls. He could be next, he could die." She panics, crying even more.

"He's in the bathroom right? He can defend hisself in the bathroom behind a closed stall for the least." Josh tries to comfort her. He seems so calm. He takes my hand and squeezes it. The door handle raddled rapidly from what we can at least hear.

After a few moments hide our teacher takes us out. The FBI officers are carrying guns and looking around for the potential shooter. Josh, Aubrielle, and I get out of the room. We see Miles at the outside in front of the entrance. Aubrielle falls into his arms and they hug for a while. Josh and I still hold hands, and he drops it. Everyone is taking videos and pictures of the bus as we walk towards it. The words "I'm still here" Is written across the bus in red paint, looking slightly like blood. This confirmed two things: THERES only one murderer, and they're a high schooler. Anyone walking these halls can kill anyone.

. . .

I sneak Josh into my basement and watch Netflix to pass time, especially after today. I look to his face which is focused on Netflix. "Hey, I know you're trying really hard to try and solve this but-"

"Aubrielle." He says, looking to me with a face that says he practically solved this. "She was with Trent before he died, and she wanted him to leave her alone, plus, I've seen Jenny fox give her stares." Josh explains.

"What about today? She was sobbing while Miles was out."

"Acting. She could've hired someone," He leans forward and looks over his shoulder to me "Don't you think it's weird that this place was so peaceful and quiet before she came?" He asks.

I get up, grab a gun, and walk a block, hiding the gun to Aubrielle's house. "What are you doing?!" Josh asks.

"I'm going to make her pay." I answer. I knock on her house and she answers. She says Miles parents are still working. I pull out the gun and she puts her hands up.

"Edith, what are you doing?" She says with a serious face.

"Don't play with me. Don't even dare to take another step." Josh goes in front of Aubrielle, protecting her.

"Edith, I love you. Just because she hurt Trent and Jenny doesn't mean all of this." Josh explains.

"What?! You really think I killed them?" Aubrielle's voice raises.

"Oh shut up" I say, a tear going down my face.

"Edith, Put the gun down and we can sort all of this." Josh's voice turns low. I put the gun down, but by the time it passes by his torso, the gun goes off without the trigger. Aubrielle screams as I drop the gun and rush over to him.

"I'm so sorry, the gun went off by itself." My cry turns knot a sob. I take the gun and Aubrielle and I manage to get him in a car and drive him in the hospital. While passing by a river, I quickly throw the gun in.

"Don't Tell them anything..." he mumbles. "I'll tell them we were all wandering the woods until a hunter shot me." He says, but he doesn't sound weak.

We get to the hospital a few minutes later and tell them the story.
