''AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!''
An indescribable pain suddenly assaulted Derrick's body, as he felt like the fabric of his body was being destroyed and recreated.
He, who had just suffered from the backlash of obtaining said new body, realized he'd just made a terrible mistake.
Still, he could only grit his teeth in agony and endure.
After a few minutes, however, it became too much, and he lost consciousness.

"Ugh..."
Derrick slowly woke up while feeling dizzy.
He had to say that he never expected the transition to be so violent.
''That's what happens when you don't think things through... My stupidity nearly cost me my life! Oh well, everything's done. Let's see what I got! System, show me my stats''

''Shit! I knew it... I damaged my body quite a bit... Still, I gained a lot in other areas''
After resting and comprehensively reading everything, Derrick started to wonder about his location.
''It's nice to get all this, but I still need to leave this cave. Where's the exit?''
He started poking around before finally finding a little hole in which he could barely fit his rather big body.
After struggling for a few moments, he finally managed to cross over, and what he saw was a cave that was completely different from the one he had just been in.
It was absolutely enormous.
In the middle of it was a small lake being nourished by a water fall coming from the ceiling. Large stalactites also protruded from it, indicating it had existed for a very long time.
There was also more natural light, allowing Derrick to see way farther than before.
It was majestic and amazing.
''So huge... It definitely has to lead outside. I just have to find the exit, and we're all set''
Even though it had already been a day since Derrick had 'received' his new body, he was still not hungry.
He estimated that he could last about 20 to 30 days in his current state, a miraculous feat no normal human should ever be able to accomplish.
While exploring, he suddenly saw dark red eyes looking in his direction, with their maliciousness sending shivers down his spine.
''What... what is this thing?!''
It looked like the offspring of a bat and an eagle. Its body, covered in glistening black feathers, was the same size as Derrick, and it possessed a wingspan of around 5 meters.
It also had long fangs and a beak that was nearly 1 meter long.
''System, what the fuck is this!???''
Derrick was starting to panic while facing this monstrosity. He still didn't have a lot of fighting power, and his two skills were currently useless.
His options were to either run or fight to the death.
He had gotten a second chance at life, and he was not about to squander it.

''That's one passive-aggressive system right there... I'm fucked...''
After seeing the terrorizing stats of his opponent, Derrick's remaining confidence had gone down the drain, and he had already begun planning his retreat.
This would be a fight for another day.
But just as he thought he had settled on a plan of action, an idea slowly crept into his brain. The more he thought about it, the crazier it seemed.
"High risk, high reward as they say..."
With his gaze still on the horrifying bird, he started inching towards the lake. He had about 100 meters to go before reaching it, which would probably take him 10 seconds in a mad dash.
Every inch he could gain right now would drastically increase his chances of survival.
*SCREECH*
The Nightmare Bat hissed loudly as it guessed Derrick's intention, resulting in it charging him.
''AHH! WHY THE HELL DID I DO THAT! AHHHHHHHHH!''
Derrick was dashing like a mad cheetah towards the lake. He had somehow managed to place himself between the water and the creature, giving him a slight head start.
The bat was flying at demonic speeds, quickly making up most of the ground between them. Its huge talons were now pointed at Derricks' back, ready to mince and kill him.
Just as they were both almost over the lake, he jumped while spinning in the air.
He now faced the bat, which seemed quite surprised.
''YOU'RE COMING WITH ME FOR A SWIM HAHAHAHA!''
When the creature realized what was happening, it was already too late.
Before jumping, Derrick had positioned himself to aim for one of the bats' wing, which he was now firmly holding with no chance of letting it go.
The monster instantly howled in regret as it fell from the sky like a rock.
*SPLASH*
With their velocity, they both arrived in the water in a loud splash.
The hybrid's struggle was fierce, but short-lived. In its panic, it had opened its mouth and flooded its lungs in the process.
After a minute, it started sinking to the bottom of the lake, finally making Derrick let go. He then swam to the shore before breathing heavily while laying on his back.
''I'm insane... Why did I do that...''
But just as he began questioning his sanity, a window suddenly appeared.
