KJ looked outside and the sun was currently setting.
KJ could hear Kabal's voice from downstairs, "KJ I have everything ready, come downstairs and we'll leave.
Well… he does work as fast as I remember.
When KJ opened the door, it was truly a sight to behold. Kabal looked as if he was going on a hike, he had a ginormous bag on his back and a leather belt on with a couple of pouches on the sides of it.
"Goddamn, what the hell are you bringing to the ocean Kabal."
Kabal's face looked as if nothing was wrong. "You said it would be a long journey, so I only brought the necessities. In the pouches, I brought some snacks we can munch on."
KJ: Yeah that's great and all but what the hell is in that big ass bag on your back.
Kabal: Ohhh this. I packed sleeping bags, our hygiene tools and just some things to keep us entertained.
KJ gave Kabal a helpless look as he glanced over, "We won't need all that where we're going. Just drop everything except for the nut sack, I mean snack sack."
The army green bag left Kabal's shoulders, he laid it on a chair and stretched out his body, his body was quite sturdy and strong even though he didn't train. He could even act as a bodyguard when it comes to other mortals, he could even beat some of the lesser trained ones.
KJ opened the door and closed it as they left the wooden lodging for the last time in a long time. They spoke about various things along the trek to the ocean.
Kabal: KJ what are your plans for when we get to the ocean.
KJ opened his hands and revealed the Diving Pellets. "Kabal, would you believe me if I said these pellets would let you breathe underwater? These pellets, when eaten, can give you about 10 minutes of breathable time underwater, they're even stackable up to a few hours."
Kabal looked at KJ meaningfully, "We may not be blood, but we are even closer than family members. If you would say that the water in the trench is breathable, I would jump in right behind you without any hesitations, I know you would never put me in danger."
KJ's eyes zoned out for a moment as he accidentally whispered, "At least not intentionally…" As he said this, he clenched his fist and released it in the next moment. He whispered again, "I won't make the same mistakes, I won't."
KJ looked over and gave Kabal a big smile, "We're almost there, just follow my lead even if it seems like everything isn't going according to plan."
They finally got to the cliff, KJ leaned over and took in a breath of the salty water. "Hmmm, it's soothing, isn't it. There are many things mortals like us can live without, but water isn't one of them." KJ opened up his mouth and threw his head back as he swallowed 3 Diving Pellets, this would give him roughly 30 minutes of time underwater until he had to come up for air.
Kabal opened his hand and received the other 3 remaining pellets. He followed suit, cocking his head back he swallowed the other 3 pellets giving him 30 minutes of time underwater as well.
KJ looked back at Kabal as he spoke, "No matter what happens just follow my lead, everything is within my calculations." There was no sense of hesitation in KJ's eyes.
Kabal nodded his head signifying that he understood and that no further questioning was necessary.
After seeing this KJ struck a pose and dove into the water headfirst.
Kabal tightened the sacks around his belt and followed KJ, diving into the depths of the ocean.
KJ signalled to Kabal and pointed downwards when Kabal took a gander he was shocked. He knew it was going to be a trench, but he never estimated it would be one of this size. When Kabal looked beneath him all he could make out was eerie darkness, he practically had no vision, but it looked as if KJ knew where he was going. These Diving Pills also had the function of allowing the user to have their eyes open without feeling any irritation.
They kept swimming lower and lower, at the upper levels they saw normal fishes. Ones like that on Earth that people would cut up and eat. But as they got lower and lower, the fishes just got larger and more menacing. These fishes were similar to the sizes of some boats on Earth, they were massive and had jagged teeth. When they swim their bodies would flail from side to side, their tails and jaws had tremendous force. They each had a gold crescent-shaped moons on their heads, the larger the stronger the specimen. The top half of their bodies was a bluish-green and it had cracks all over, it was hardened skin that was meant to be armour. They also had very durable and slippery underbellies that were completely white, some had battle scars indicating a fierce showdown.
Back then these were called Devil Whales, they were called this because as they eat, they store power in the crescent moons on their foreheads. That power could then be stored and used later. When they want to access that power, they would open their jaws and a fiery magma-like hell would erupt out of their mouths, it was almost like a beam. It could scorch whatever it touched as long as it had enough power, and this power was indeed devilish.
Devil Whale: Aquatic specimen that stores power in the crescent moon on their forehead. Their underbellies are slippery and white in colour. The rest of their bodies are a bluish-green and covered in cracks that act as armour. Once they store enough power they can expel it through a magma-like beam that they can shoot out from their mouth.
