KJ couldn't contain his happiness, everything was going smoothly… maybe even too smoothly.
A deep voice reverberated throughout the room; it was the ruler.
"RISE"
As he said that both of the men slowly got up to their feet and met his gaze.
Just as I remember.
The ruler in front of them was exactly the same as the ruler in KJ's previous life. The man in front of them was, Alfin, The Ruler of the Endless Abyss. The Ruler was a bit round and pudgy; he was also shorter than one would expect. For reference, KJ was 6 feet tall and 4 inches. Kabal was 6 feet tall and 3 inches. Both of the Guardians were around 7 feet tall. On the other hand, The Ruler looked to be 5 feet and 6 inches. He was a rather short and pudgy man, but he seemed to have a calm and warm demeanor.
He had bulging frog-like eyes that were tinged with a bit of yellow. His skin was similar to that of a frog as well, he had webbing between his fingers, and he had very oily skin. He was not appealing, to say the least. His green-ish yellow skin was matching with his eyes and his gold throne. He had a round face and a large smile, his nose was large and quite flat as well. He had a silver crown that was tilted on his head, it appeared it could fall off at any moment, but it stayed in place. The silver crown had jewels traveling along the base of it in a band-like pattern. Red and blue gems decorated the beautiful crown. He had a black cloak with a water dragon drawn on the back of it. He truly looked powerful in this moment, who knew he was fated to die.
His teeth were slightly corroded and yellow. "Speak, tell me who you are and what happened."
His voice was regal and befitting that of a ruler.
KJ: My lord we were taken by creatures on the land, we were toyed with, countless experiments and cruelties were done upon us. Our nails pulled, our fingers chopped off, those were only the beginning. They hung us upside down and slit our wrists letting blood flow and fill the buckets that were placed below us. They tried to learn of our knowledge, but we wouldn't squeal
Kabal: This is all true my lord. They forced us to eat like dogs and kept us bound at almost every moment. We were beaten and thrown around without even giving a chance to explain ourselves. We escaped when they were busy fornicating. They got so drunk they couldn't tell a 3 from a 9, they were idiotic self-deluding heathens
Kabal sunk in his stomach and showed Alfin his protruding ribs. "They starved us the only thing we ate were these sour nuts."
Kabal reached for the sour nuts in his sack, KJ signaled over and gave him 4 Diving Pellets, Kabal mixed them in the bag. Kabal then took a handful of sour nuts and took 2 pellets, KJ did the same and they both ate them. They were running low on oxygen, so they needed a non-suspicious excuse.
KJ: King Alfin, would you like some?
Alfin: Sorry, I will have to decline your offer.
KJ: Oh, great ruler, Alfin, of The Endless Abyss, please give us your judgment
Alfin listened to his subjects with his eyes closed. After he heard all there was to be said he opened his ancient eyes. "I see, you've been through a lot. Fear not, you will be protected within our home from now on. No harm will come to each of you either, do you have any further questions?"
Kabal nodded his head from side to side indicating he had said all he had to say. However, before Alfin turned his head KJ stared daggers into his soul. He was stunned senseless for a second but quickly regained his composure. Alfin thought to himself, what the hell did I just see.
KJ's calm voice filled and reverberated in his ears, "Great Ruler, in the past I was truly weak and pathetic but during my days being tortured, I often had flashes where I would lose my consciousness. The pain was too unbearable. During these times I would see an unbearably dark room, nothing could be made out in it. However, there was a blindingly bright light in the center of the room, it looked as if countless dragons of light were swimming along each other. It was constantly snap, crackle, and poping. Those sounds… I could never forget them. I felt as though the light could speak to me, it is actually the one who told me when to escape, it kept me alive for most of my time on the land to be completely truthful."
KJ: I'm not sure what those heathens have implanted in my mind or if this was simply a gift, however, if the Lord wants to try and eradicate this thing, he is most welcome
Alfin was greatly shocked. The vast majority of Alfin's subjects wouldn't voluntarily let anyone invade their mind. However, this tribesman willingly let him, it touched his heart. It was also what he needed. A flash appeared in his eyes; it was just what he was looking for. KJ was obviously someone who could inherit his power.
Alfin: Oh, you two passed your names on to the guardians beforehand so I also knew them before you came. And it is because I knew them that I can say they are truly magnificent names
Alfin got up from his throne and patted himself down. He was getting ready to leave, "I will get both of you a house to stay in, Sindra will take you to it, and here put on this bracelet." He passed on two Hopes of Poseidon to them. Kabal and KJ put them on their left wrists and activated them right away.
Alfin: The Ruler of the Endless Abyss. He is short and pudgy. He has greenish-yellow skin, yellow teeth, and frog-like eyes and features. He commands thunder, water, and the entire Endless Abyss
