Alfin's Favour

After all the chatter ceased for a decent amount of time the doors behind them opened. Light poured into the room and the first figure that walked in was Sindra.

Sindra: I was given orders to take you to your new home

Ayla: You two don't look to be too old, shouldn't you still have family around, parents at least?

Ayla didn't fully trust them to the same extent Sindra did.

KJ looked at the ground as he spoke, "We lost contact with our parents even before we were abducted. If I see them, I'll know they are my family, time won't change that."

After a bit of walking away from the palace, they finally got to a plot of land that was quite large. The houses looked to be slightly poor but it quickly advanced and kept advancing as they got to the center. The homes became bigger and more lavish, near the absolute center was KJ's new home.

They came to an abrupt stop and looked up. The house wasn't too wide like the others, but it was extremely tall. Just like the inside of the palace, the buildings in the Endless Abyss all had a permeable barrier. This barrier was a very light shade of violet and it was placed at the doors. This barrier was magically imbued by the king and is used to keep water from entering the inside of the buildings.

As soon as Sindra completed his mission he took his leave, "It seems the King favours you, enjoy your time, may we meet again."

Ayla looked at them mischievously through the corner of his left eye. "Yes, the King indeed seems to favour you two, make sure not to break this favour and you shall be fine."

As they finished speaking, they were both out of sight and out of mind. KJ went to the nearest bed and dropped his body onto it. "Damn Kabal, it's been a crazy day hasn't it, plus we're only getting started."

Kabal was sitting down on a chair facing KJ. "So, what's next? It's not like you to do things without purpose."

KJ: Tomorrow I can show you the marketplace that is in front of the palace. It is a stretch of land that is practically a vertical walkway. The walkway has stones that increase in brightness the closer you get to them. It looks as if the floor beneath you is lighting up as you step on it. We even walked on it today, but you didn't notice because the jellyfish were too bright.

Also, the marketplace is phenomenal. Anything you need, from food, gear, clothing, and even other more special things if you get lucky

Kabal: Alright I'm off to bed, hopefully, this marketplace is all it's meant to be

KJ laid in his bed as he swam through an ocean of memories. He was reminded of the man named Raiju.

Raiju was the one who was supposed to inherit Alfin's power. He was called Raiju the Hidden Sword. This was because whenever he struck, his lightning would char his opponents before his sword would ever get the chance to behead them.

Raiju led the Sea Dwellers in the Great War, they had great power but never made it to the top because they never allied with anyone. Almost every race competed in the war, everyone was wary of an alliance between the Sea Dwellers and the other water species like the Mermen and Mermaids, even the Water Elementals had meetings with Raiju so people thought they were allies.

Hmmmmm, should I wait and recruit Raiju to bring him to my side? It would reduce my potential enemies but without learning thunder he may be a lesser fighter, well that's something to figure out later.

The thing with Raiju isn't his power it was his position that led to his downfall. Raiju would have been a better General in the army or a Guardian even. He was very skilled at looking at the moment and moving his current pieces around to benefit him and his people. His downfall came because he couldn't plan ahead, he did have strong power, but he never assumed everyone would go to war at once. He could take on different enemies here and there but when he was being bombarded with no allies he fell.

As KJ kept thinking he fell into a deep sleep. He awoke to Kabal making some food.

Kabal spoke in a slightly loud and cheery tone, "Hey KJ they left us some ingredients here so I'm whipping up a small breakfast. We can grab more food at the marketplace later if need be."

KJ: When we finish eating, I can show you around the market, we can even pick out some weapons if anything catches your eye

A pouch was on the desk beside his bed when he woke up. KJ went over and opened it, "The customary allowance of the Sea Dwellers. Every Sea Dweller had a monthly household allowance and the rest of their money was earned by deeds or working in the marketplace."

The coins were circular, the outer trimming was gold and the inside had a huge golden carving of a serpent head. The rest of the inside of the coin that wasn't gold was actually a clean and noble red.

"Kabal we should thank our King; it looks like he gave us a bit extra to spend. Well, that's if we end up seeing him again."

Kabal: Oh, with you here I'm sure we'll find our way to him somehow, probably soon if I'm to be exact

Raiju: The Hidden Sword and past inheritor of The Endless Abyss

The Great War: War between almost every race
