Chapter 4 Dragon's Roar

Ryug's grandparents left the hospital.

"Will he be okay? He didn't tell us what happened in there."

"He will."

"How can you be so sure about that. He lost his life inside there"

Ryug's grandmother was sure something had happened inside the Gate seeing only Ryug lost his core and the other two were perfectly fine.

"It might be a colossal type monster or something dangerous."

"How come the other two are hopping around and our grandson is bedridden? I want to get to the heart of this"

"Just leave it. It's better not to"

Ryug's grandfather answered without looking at his wife. It was like he was purposely ignoring her.

"How can you be like that? He's your grandson"

Swish!!

Darius teleported out of the car and was gone.

Rose was sure that Darius was hiding something from her. She immediately took her communication device,

'Madame your order'

"Investigate what happened inside the raid gate."

'Yes Madame'

Her eyes became cold.

"Do whatever it takes"

The person on the other side was the leader of the top-ranked assassin organisation "Death Scythe". She understood the weight behind those words and mobilised all high ranked personals under her.

This day the whole underworld trembled because of Death scythe.

Later that day, The news reported that several S ranked Gate's was destroyed in an instant by Darius. No one could get near him to get his reason for this sudden participation as he was covered in flames and looked fearsome.

The people were anxious about his berserk state.

The Great families were shocked and wanted to find the reason behind his actions. They wanted to know who stepped on the tail of the mad dragon.

"The reason behind his grandson's state is related to them, He is giving a clear warning. There won't be mercy"

The patriarch of the Icepheonix family and comrade in arms with Darius clearly understood his actions.

"Summon caroline and Gilbert to the family hall"

The old man gave out an order.

***In the Hospital***

"Your way of breathing is wrong"

"Still wrong"

"Focus.."

"Don't let your mind wander"

Zhao Feng was correcting Ryug as he was chanting the mantra. The Mantra helps in enhancing the body and is primarily used to awaken a cultivators dantian.

It seemed that Ryug got used to how a Zhao Feng's teachings worked.

"I'm trying."

"Don't nag me like that. I can't concentrate"

Ryug was concentrating so hard.

Zhao Feng saw Ryug's posture and instructed him.

"Relax your mind and focus. Feel the energy outside"

Listening to the instructions Ryug calmed his mind and focused. He could feel strands of energy surrounding him but he failed to absorb them.

"I failed to absorb them"

"It's not going to be easy, Ryug. Try it again"

'Shit...it took me a month to sense them. How come this boy sensed them.'

Zhao Feng was envious of Ryug's natural talent.

'Seems like he's way more talented than you... Hahaha'

'At last a proper host'

Beast spirits were teasing Zhao Feng.

'You guys can you stop ridiculing me'

Zhao Feng was embarrassed.

"I started to absorb them"

"I succeeded"

Ryug was shouting happily. He wanted to hear praise from his formidable master.

"En..En.. continue meditating diligently. Until the golden core inside your body, lit's up"

Zhao Feng wanted to bury himself inside a pit. He was totally embarrassed by his talent.

It was then.

"…..Just what is it that you succeeded in?"

He felt a cold, probing stare coming from the side, so he turned his head to look. And, spotted his little sister in her school uniform looking at him from the gap of the half-open door.

"Uhm….."

Ryug became speechless.

Her brother, busy glaring at the ceiling while shouting to someone that he succeeded – he simply didn't know how to explain this one to her.

"Maybe, you hurt your head really bad?"

His younger sister stood at the door and asked Ryug, prompting him to shake his head vigorously.

"No, that's not it."

Even though he denied it, Ryug's younger sister, Rias's eyes remained suspicious.

"Are you really okay?"

"Yes, I'm telling you the truth."

Rias blankly swept her gaze all over Ryug, before she came closer her breathing became uneven, angry. And then, as soon as Ryug assumed a defensive posture, she began punching him in all the unguarded parts.

"How come you got hurt!! You are the most cautious person I know. You have any idea how worried I was?!"

"…..I'm sorry."

"Other's who attended the raid with you are fine, but how come it's only you who got hurt this time?!"

"….Sorry."

"Don't. Why did this happen to you? You have lost all your strength"

The strength behind Rias's punches gradually seeped away. She soon stopped, and as her head fell, she began crying. Ryug slowly patted the back of his sobbing sister.

'I was thinking of leaving behind her alone and dying, wasn't I….'

What a relief that he made it out alive.

When he looked back, he wanted to torture the hell out of them both.

It was as if he had experienced one hell of a terrifying nightmare.

"I'm safe"

Ryug had tears flowing from his eyes as he dazedly looked at the ceiling above, as those pain scenes appeared in front of his eyes one by one.

There were so many things he couldn't understand.

But, so what?

The most important thing was that he came back alive, and he got to see his little sister again.

"Sniff."

Thankfully, his strong-willed sister stopped crying after a short while. Unfortunately for him, though, her nagging continued on for over one hour afterwards.

"Do you hear me? If you enter the Gate one more time I'm going to kill you even if the monsters didn't."

Rias's sharp glare didn't really suit her pretty face.

"Okay, okay. I hear you."

Ryug nodded his head as if he'd given up.

Only after she was able to extract his assurance several times more did she display a hint of satisfaction, and stood up from the seat.

"Are you leaving?"

"yeah... I practically sneaked out of the school to see you and it's almost time to go home. Take care Brother"

Rias left the hospital room. Ryug sighed.

"Finally, I can meditate in peace"

Ryug closed his eyes and chanted the mantra. He meditated for the entire night the golden core wasn't even filled 1/4th of its capacity.

A week passed by and on the last day of his stay, the golden core completely lit forming an image of a golden dragon coiled to form a circle.

'Raawr'

A mighty dragons roar shook the whole city that night.
