Chapter 5 I'm Sorry, Ryug

The Dragon's roar brought an uproar in the city.

The origins of the roar were found and was immediately concealed. No one could find the origins of the roar anymore.

***In the Hospital***

The one who caused the uproar was sleeping peacefully in his bed.

"Just awakening you exhausted him this much"

Zhao Feng spoke to the Golden Dragon.

The Golden Dragon was chanting with its eyes closed.

"Why are chanting the Eternal Sutra now? Are you planning to kill him from over-exhaustion"

The Golden Dragon continued chanting regardless of what Zhao Feng's warning. Suddenly Ryug's body was covered with magical runes and the Golden Core inside his body started to absorb the energy automatically.

Seeing this drastic change the Golden Dragon was happy. On the other hand, Zhao Feng had a dumbfounded expression on his face.

The Golden Dragon reflexively let out a dumbfounded chuckle after confirming the expression on Zhao Feng's face.

'Ryug was able to activate his core this fast. This is absurd'

Zhao Feng was feelings was complicated. He was feeling bad at himself and feeling happy for Ryug.

Caroline just snorted and left to the family hall as ordered. Defying the direct order from the patriarch would surely lead to heavy punishments even if they are a direct descendant of the family.

All the elders were gathered at the family hall and the atmosphere was intense.

"Caroline, Greets the patriarch"

Caroline knelt in front of her grandfather who was sitting in the middle.

But, there was no response from her grandfather. Instead he was glaring at her.

"What happened inside the Gate?"

The patriarch questioned Caroline.

"We fought a tough opponent and we got injured. We were knocked unconscious. Ryug was the one who fought the boss monster."

Caroline was lying without batting an eye. The patriarch was intensely watching her. At that moment, Gilbert was brought inside. Seeing Gilbert beaten up caroline was tensed and she felt pain in her heart.

"Gilbert"

"Who hurt you?"

"How did this happen to you?"

Caroline didn't care that she was in the presence of the patriarch, she ran to Golbert and hugged him.

"Insolence"

"Disrespecting the patriarch"

"How dare she!!"

The Elder's gathered inside the hall were boiling with anger.

Even if she's the second-ranking individual. she needs to obey the patriarch when inside the family.

A great amount of pressure landed upon Caroline and Gilbert. It looked like it wanted to crush them.

"I'm asking again, WHAT HAPPENED INSIDE THE GATE?"

This time his tone was more condensed and filled with anger.

Before Carolene could continue, She was interrupted by the patriarch.

When caroline heard it, she became pale.

The Patriarch suddenly took out a blood coloured gem. It was floating in his palm

"Do you recognise this?"

Seeing the Origin core in her Grandfather's hand, Caroline was shaking from fear.

All the Elder's present were shocked seeing the Origin core. The power it excluded was perfectly in match with Ryug's power. Taking an Origin core meant cutting the heart of the person. Even if he didn't die, he would surely be a cripple.

"This Origin core is slowly losing its power because of the forceful activation of the Forbidden Taboo"

The patriarch mentioned in a cold tone. The way he looked at caroline was filled with hatred.

"Yes...I took the Origin core to strengthen my lover and make him the strongest. what's wrong in it?"

Caroline spoke looking at the patriarch.

"YOU ARE RYUG'S FIANCE. YOU MADE ME TO FORM AN ENGAGEMENT BETWEEN THE TWO OF YOU."

The patriarch was angered. Caroline wanted to marry Ryug so she asked her grandfather to ask for the engagement.

"That's for to take his Origin core. Only the man that I love should be the best"

Caroline looked hideous while she spoke.

SLAP!!!

caroline was slapped by her mother.

"What did I do wrong in raising you?"

The patriarch didn't speak. The whole hall was silent. If the Mad Dragon goes berserk and comes to their family for revenge. The consequences would be unimaginable.

Suddenly, screams filled the silent hall,

"AHHHH"

"AAAHHHH"

"It's burning inside me"

"My skin is boiling"

"SOMEBODY HELP ME"

Both Caroline and Gilbert were rolling in the floor while screaming due to the pain they were feeling.

Caroline's mother touched her daughter. But, she got burns in her hand.

"Help her, Father"

Sigh~~

The patriarch sighed and said,

"There's nothing I can do, the Forbidden Taboo will only be activated if the person felt immense hated towards a person he loved."

"The curses inflicted would be the strongest one because both the Origin core and the Fire Domain had lost its powers."

After hearing it, Caroline's mother cried.

"Why did he curse her?...why?"

Caroline's mother asked while staring at the heavens.

"You may not know his heart. But, I knew how much he loved her and treasured her. Just see this and if you still can question him, I will stand by your side then"

After saying, The patriarch pointed his finger in his daughters forehead and passed her something. He left the hall without turning back.

After a while, Caroline's mom came out of the dazed state. She looked at her daughter with hatred and left them.

Caroline's mom, Clara. One of the best healers in the city was gazing at the sky helplessly. She could never heal someone's heart who was broken like him. She loved the boy who used to smile stupidly whenever he was wounded.

'I'm sorry, Ryug.'

This was all she could say while tears flowed down her cheeks.
