I'm not sure if I should tell you

Big boss stepped out for a while to handle business concerns and left her in the control room. Ying Yue slipped her phone into her jacket pocket and sighed.

She stood up and went over to the head of the tech team, the genius Mo Yiling, who was focused on tapping the traffic cameras that might have recorded where the hitman went. Other than Big Boss, he was the only one in Juyan who knew about her identity. Mo Yiling had been at Juyan a few years ahead of her, and although she hardly knew anything about him, he'd always helped her out with anything. She trusted him like she trusted Big Boss.

"Found anything?" She leaned over one computer, studying the time and date stamped on the video playing.

Mo Yiling was still punching at his keyboard as fast as he could, tracking down the cars passing by when it happened and hacking into their dashboard cameras if they had any. "That one you're looking at, I got it where the motorcycle slid off."

Ying Yue fixed her eyes on the video. The motorcycle suddenly appeared, sliding sideways on to the sidewalk with a man in black gear. She tuned in all her attention to what she was seeing. One moment, the man was crawling off from the bike, the next second, he and the motorcycle disappeared into thin air.

Tsk. What the hell was that? If they were able to clean up the surveillance cameras around the place, then they weren't dealing with just anyone. Ying Yue punched the computer table and growled.

Mo Yiling paused what he was doing and took a glance at her. "Yeah, that one's tampered with."

She drew closer to Mo Yiling's face and pouted at him. "Can't you retrieve the original one?"

He put one hand on Ying Yue's shoulder and gently pushed her away. For a woman, she really didn't know much about acting coquettishly. Her puppy dog pout looked more like a walrus asking for food. Plus, he was a bit averse to female contact -- or any kind of personal contact, really. "Not if it's been permanently deleted."

"Someone's actually better and faster than you in this kind of thing?" She teased him. She knew tech geniuses like Mo Yiling had large egos, and they hated knowing that someone was more capable than them.

Mo Yiling bristled in response and answered defensively, "You called me in too late! Of course, someone could have cleaned up everything in less than an hour!" He adjusted the thickly-rimmed glasses on top of his nose and his lips were turned down. The guy was supposed to be on vacation. But when he was packing his things that night for an out-of-town trip, a call from Big Boss came through. Mo Yiling was the only one in the tech team allowed to handle affairs related to shadow fox. "Don't be such a brat. I'm not even supposed to be here."

She should be thanking him, really.

She chuckled and laid back on the couch in the room, recalling the events that transpired that night.

She was going to aim for the head, but if she put in a headshot, not only would she lose information from the killer, but if the man was after CEO Fei and not her, she'd be getting the attention of whoever ordered the killing. Not only that, CEO Fei would be surprised to know she wouldn't hesitate to shoot.

She instead aimed for the rider's shoulder, hoping to at least get some info on the guy. Unfortunately for her, he got away.

The door to the tech room slid open.

Big boss came in looking at her with a weird look. He didn't say anything and just stared at Ying Yue with his arms folded and one corner of his mouth turned down.

She didn't like it.

"Is there anything you want to tell me, Big boss?"

He grunted in response. "I'm not sure it's wise for me to break confidentiality agreements, but you are my best agent after all…"

"Your favorite agent, actually." She grinned.

Looking exasperated, he stared down at her. "I'm being serious."

"Okay, okay."

"It's about Fei Huangjin."

She looked up. "Were they after him?" If they were, she couldn't get too involved. She'd have to file a leave and all that or better yet find a new job. If she was forced to step up and reveal herself to protect her boss, that would be bad for Juyan.

"Actually," Big boss drew himself closer and propped himself on the armchair across Ying Yue, "this isn't about the killing…"

He paused. The little girl he'd been protecting for years now had finally grown up, and she was stronger than she looked. But this time, she'd finally settled in to a decent job outside of Juyan that she liked and that paid well. When he first took her in, he had always hoped she wouldn't stay long in the spy business and let the issue with her brother go. But he knew her, and she was still banking on bringing the Jade Circle down. And if she finds out someone was investigating her, she would drop everything to protect Juyan and herself. "I'm not sure if I should tell you."
