Director Su

Something told him that this older, more confident Su Jianjun was not as innocent, as passive, and as gullible as the child he once knew. And the fact that he was the one who came to represent Changsu today rather than the director put a question mark hanging in the air.

He pursed his lips in thought, not taking his eyes off the seemingly-harmless smiling man across him. "I remember that your family has some shares in Changsu."

"Yes." Su Jianjun's smiling face persisted, and he gazed deeply at Fei Huangjin with a face that was hard to decipher. "They aren't simply 'some' shares anymore. The Su family is now the majority shareholder of Changsu. Director Chang has decided to retire and thus I've come to take his place."

"My apologies then. I hadn't heard of the changes. I should have addressed you as Director Su." Fei Huangjin kept on a poker face. There was something fishy with the way the Su's had taken over Changsu so suddenly. He knew that Director Chang held 40% of the shares in that company, and the remaining 60% was unequally divided among seven other shareholders -- the Su's included.

However, the Su family only used to hold 11%. So how did they manage to become the majority shareholder without people knowing? He made a mental note to ask Guan Ting to investigate the matter.

"No need to apologize, CEO Fei. The shares were only finalized yesterday, and so was Director Chang's decision to retire. But there's no need to worry. I'll be retaining any existing contracts that the company has."

Fei Huangjin made a show of nodding his head. "Let's talk business then, shall we?"

Ying Yue hurried back to her desk. It was already past the time for Fei Huangjin's meeting with the representative from Changsu and she was supposed to escort him in.

She breathed a sigh of relief when she found the waiting area to be empty. She didn't realize how much time passed while she was in the break room, and she spent a couple minutes longer in there to get some info from Xi Shenghui about the finance department's work situations and the problems they weren't reporting to the CEO.

She weakly kicked off her heels and phoned the reception. The representative might have been waiting for her at the lobby instead.

"Hello, this is Secretary Ying from the office of the CEO. I'd like to ask if a representative from Changsu Shipping Company has arrived yet?"

The receptionist lifted her eyebrows in surprise. "Changsu? Secretary Ying, I sent up the handsome man from Changsu around 20 minutes ago. He hasn't come down yet, either."

Ying Yue sat up, alarmed. "Oh. I must have missed him. Er--thank you."

"You're welcome."

Ying Yue put her heels back on again and walked over to Fei Huangjin's door, placing her ear against the dark mahogany. Indeed, she could make out two voices in the room.

The representative must've gone in himself.

She felt a slight panic at the thought of Fei Huangjin berating her for her lapse at work before realizing that he wouldn't dare to do that now that they were together. If he would, she'd dangle the fiancé card at him to shut him up. She snickered silently as she scurried off back to the break room to get them a drink.

Now armed with a tray bearing two cups of coffee, Ying Yue knocked on the door gently before opening it. There was a ready smile on her face, and as always, her hair was perfectly coiffed into a neat ponytail. Indeed, there was a man in an emerald green suit across Fei Huangjin discussing business with him.

She walked in confidently towards the two and moved to place the tray on the coffee table between them. "Gentlemen, your--" She gasped as she saw the soft facial features of the man on the couch, and she ended up loosening her hold on the tray.

Bang! Crack!

The tray toppled over the floor, sending the cups down with it in a smash, and the brown liquid they held splashed all over her feet. In her state of panic, she bent down to take the tray and started picking up a broken piece of the ceramic cup.

"Ah!" She pulled her hand back as blood beaded from the palm of her hand.

"Ying Yue!" Fei Huangjin stood up to help her, but Su Jianjun was faster.
