May I see your hand

It didn't take long for the jeweler to arrive after Fei Huangjin placed a call. In less than an hour, an elderly man in a black suit had come up to the floor with a team of security personnel tailing him. One of them was holding on to a large black suitcase.

The other people in the floor cast curious glances at the new guest that arrived. Just how important was this man to bring in almost ten burly-bodied guards?

Ying Yue stood up from her desk and gave the elderly man a polite smile before leading them inside Fei Huangjin's office. Only the elderly man and his security personnel holding the suitcase went inside. The rest stood outside the waiting room in a triangular formation.

They didn't seem like regular bodyguards to her, and the jeweler didn't even seem like he was a local. Nothing was simple with this man.

"Master Po," Fei Huangjin stood up from his seat with his usual unperturbed expression, and to her surprise, he bowed slightly at the man across him.

The man called Master Po also bowed in reply. "Young Master Fei. I was surprised when you called me."

Master Po was the Fei family jeweler for as long as Fei Huangjin could remember. However, he wasn't a mere jeweler or metalsmith. He was half-Chinese and half-Irish, and he owned his own diamond mines across various countries. He was a master jeweler known for his stones and designs that no one could par, and he never did personal visits except for the Fei family.

Fei Huangjin never knew why, but he suspected it had something to do with the old master Fei.

"Let's sit down."

To Master Po's surprise, the young secretary who greeted him also sat down at the arm chair beside Fei Huangjin's, and he glanced at her with an enigmatic look. "This is…"

"My fiancé." Fei Huangjin didn't bat an eye as he said the two words, causing the old man to turn to him in mild confusion. He had known Fei Huangjin since he was a young boy, and he never showed interest in jewelry until today, and neither had he ever shown interest in women.

It seems that there wouldn't be a problem with a new heir in a few years' time. His grandfather must be jumping in joy at the Fei household, he thought.

It wasn't his place to ask about their affairs, though. He nodded, and then motioned for his security personnel to place the suitcase on the couch beside him.

Fluidly, Master Po unlocked the suitcase with a code and his thumb fingerprint, opening it with a serious face. He then took out a cushioned tray and placed it on the coffee table in front of them. He eyed Ying Yue carefully. A woman's face, and her hands, would say a lot about the jewelry she likes, and the jewelry that would fit her. The two things weren't mutually exclusive, however. "May I see your hand, Miss?"

Ying Yue fixed her gaze at the old man, and carefully held out her uninjured hand to him.

She was actually picking out rings. For years, she didn't think she'd ever live to be in this moment. She suddenly felt a bit overwhelmed.

Master Po donned his gloves, and took her hand to examine it closely. Thin, long fingers. Very rectangular nails. Rough hands. And she had some callouses here and there, to his surprise. Her face made her look quite the delicate woman, but her hands told a different story.

"She would fit into a size 4 or 4.5. Check these designs and see if there's anything both of you would like." He took out a cushioned row of rings out of the tray.

Ying Yue scanned the rings closely, as did Fei Huangjin. They all looked marvelous, and one look was all it took to say that they were very intricately designed. She bit her lip as she carefully considered each one. They were all beautiful, however…

"See anything you like?" Fei Huangjin whispered from beside her.

She turned to him, and then to Master Po's expectant look. "Well, these designs are amazing."

"Thank you." The old man replied with a nod.

"But I want something… simpler. And smaller."
