"You said he's living in the Philippines now, right?"
Guan Ting chewed on his bottom lip. He had known Fei Huangjin for quite some time now, and even trained together with the man when they were younger. He had a bad feeling about what his master was about to do. "Yeah. He's staying there in a city called Cebu."
With a sly look on his face, Fei Huangjin glanced at the calendar on his desk. "Book me a plane to that place. I want to go by tomorrow."
"Sir?" Guan Ting eye's widened, and he rubbed a hand on one side of his face where his scar was. He knew it would come to this. Still, he pressed against it. "We're not sure he's still at the location we tracked him down to. And we have very few men over in that country to help us out."
"You said it so yourself -- we can't be too sure he's still there. That's why we have to leave by tomorrow." Huangjin opened his laptop and pulled up the schedule Ying Yue had prepared for him for the week. Other than the one with Su Jianjun for Changsu, there weren't a lot of important meetings for the next couple of days. Perfect. With Ying Yue's help, Haocheng could handle them just fine.
"We?" he drawled.
"Did you think I was going to keep you here while I do the dirty work for you? You're coming with me. Guan Ting, your incompetence has led us to this point, so you might as well deal with your mistake like a man."
Guan Ting didn't know if he should laugh or cry. In the end, he could only allow his eyebrow to twitch and acquiesce. "Yes, boss."
Fei Huangjin had one more order to give. "Make sure you leave plenty of men to guard my wife. Double the men assigned to her." And with that, he ended the call just as Ying Yue knocked and slipped inside his office.
"I heard you yell at someone." She sauntered over, prompting him to push back his seat and beckon her over.
Ying Yue ended up sitting on his lap.
Previously, he thought of Ying Yue as the wild Mimosa. Like the plant, she would withdraw and close up when you tried to get closer. She was too independent, relied only on herself, and solved her problems on her own. Now, she had grown to appreciate affection and to depend on him slightly. Fei Huangjin kissed her head lightly, pulling her closer in his arms as she nuzzled on his jaw, absorbing the warmth he gave. "I have to leave tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" There was confusion marring her eyebrows as she thought about the schedule she had arranged for him for the week. "You don't have a business trip scheduled this week."
"It's for the Dragon Club. I have to meet with that man..." He watched her carefully as the meaning of his words dawned on her. Almost immediately, her eyebrows sunk into a frown.
"I'll come with you." Her eyes were filled with quiet determination.
"You can't."
"Why not?" She pulled back and gazed at him incredulously. "This involves me and my brother."
Fei Huangjin sighed. He knew she'd say that. "The man doesn't want to get involved in this again. I'm going there to claim his loyalty as the master of the Dragon Club. I can't afford for him to clam up because you're there."
Ying Yue still didn't understand. "But I'm your wife."
The way she said sounded really cute that he couldn't help pulling his lips back into a smirk. "You are, but you're also Ying Shen's sister. And I can't protect you properly over there. You're safer here." He picked up several strands of hair that had loosened from her ponytail and hooked it behind one of her ears. "Besides, I need you to help Haocheng with my work."
She pondered it for a moment and bit her lip. "The moment you have news of the documents, you have to tell me straight away."
"I will."
"If it's at Juyan, I won't wait for you to return to get it. I'm going there myself," she demanded.
Fei Huangjin hesitated for two seconds before nodding. Even if he would disagree, he was sure Ying Yue would go off on her own anyway. He might as well let her be so he could keep track of her safety.
And with that, Ying Yue flashed him a small smile.
The curve of her lips looked really beautiful on her, and the morning light filtering through the floor-to-ceiling windows of his office outlined one side of her face, making her look angelic. Her amorous eyes were looking straight into him, like they were piercing into his soul, calling him. He couldn't help it -- Fei Huangjin swept her up in his arms and padded over to his resting area hidden behind his office.
"Huangjin! What are you doing?"
"Hush, Mrs. Fei. I'd like to make love to my wife right now"
"Huangjin! It's working hours!"
"I know."
