Ying Yue was lost in her thoughts, one hand on top of the pile of boxes sitting beside her in the car. She still couldn't believe she'd ran into Su Jianjun. And that man… he had such soft, feminine features that it was hard to associate him with a sly old fox. But that was exactly what he was-- otherwise, he wouldn't be trying to hide Song Yinan that hard, would he?
But then again, did Su Jianjun even have a motive?
Since it was still early in the morning, the gentle sunlight warmed her face. Her eyes turned to look outside the window, at the skyscrapers they passed by. They looked a bit dull during the day compared to how they were all lit up and colorful at night.
A black car whizzed past her face, faster than she could catch. And then the car stopped in front of them, blocking their path on the street.
SCREEEEECH!
"Urgh!" The car was put on a break so suddenly that Ying Yue's head hit the headrest in front of her, and she ended up with her butt on the car's floor with all fourteen boxes strewn on top of her.
"Ma'am, are you alright?!"
Ying Yue groaned. And then she felt something warm and sticky on her leg. She pushed off a few of the boxes to check on what it was, and what she saw made her eyes bulge out. "Noooo! The pastries!!!" The box of cream puffs she bought for herself had split open during the incident, and they were littered all over the floor and on her legs, looking destroyed and deflated.
Her blood began to boil.
"WHO F*CKING DID THIS?" She screamed.
The driver cringed, then glanced at the Audi that had blocked their way. The door to the driver's seat opened, making him frown. "Stay in the car, ma'am. I'll deal with this." He drew his gun.
The day wasn't getting any better for Ying Yue. She woke up with no text message from her husband, she had run in to Su Jianjun, and now the cream puffs she had bought a few minutes ago squished and dirty -- and to think she hadn't even eaten one yet!
"No," she tugged at the driver's sleeve, surprising him. "I'll go out. Give me your gun."
He blinked. "But ma'am--"
"Give me the gun or I'll fire you for insubordination."
He didn't need to be told twice; he gladly turned over his gun to her.
Cocking the gun, Ying Yue stepped out of the car, looking like a walking contradiction in her girly dress, flat sandals, and the gun in her hand. Her hair billowed behind her along with the wind.
The man in the Audi stepped out, and spotting her standing there looking devilishly beautiful, Fei Huangjin's face brightened almost instantly. "Ying Yue--"
BANG!
The gun went off and shot a bullet a few inches away from his feet.
"How dare you, Fei Huangjin?" She bristled. All her pent-up frustration was coming out right now.
Fei Huangjin froze, and he didn't dare to move his feet even an inch towards her. "Honey, I'm sorry about last night--"
BANG!
This time, the bullet punctured one of his tires, and the Audi sunk unevenly to one side.
Ying Yue's driver, the man from the phoenix team who was here to guard her sat still in the car, watching the scene unfold with much glee and interest. He even had the urge to laugh.
"Sorry about what?" She pursed her lips together. It's not enough that the man apologizes if he doesn't even know what he was apologizing for. And he had A LOT he needed to be sorry for.
He gulped. "I shouldn't have let that girl touch any part of me--" He saw her raise her gun again and he scrambled to apologize even more, "--AND, AND-- I should've told you I was going to that place. I'm sorry. I promise you, that won't happen again. In fact, it really won't happen again because I've shut the place down."
She tilted her head to one side, and he took it as a silent gesture for him to continue. Continue? What else did he have to say?
"Oh-- and I'm here to take you home."
Ying Yue was taken aback. That was it? That was all he was apologizing for? And he even dared to demand her to come home right that instant? How insanely rude! She had a job, for heavens' sake! Blood rushed into her head and she felt a whirlwind of rage threatening to break out of her chest.
