Wedding (1)

"What are you doing here? You're supposed to escort Ying Yue to the venue." Fei Huangjin buttoned his shirt and eyed Guan Ting, who, for once in his life, was wearing a tuxedo. The glamorous outfit did nothing to outshine the scar across his cheek, however. And since no amount of makeup could cover it up, it remained as it was, pale and gleaming.

The man straightened his back with a frustrated sigh. How was it that both his master and his wife had personalities that were cold on everyone else except each other? Until now, the young madame still didn't seem to trust him or speak warmly to him. "The young madame insisted that I get out while she prepares for the wedding, and said that the Phoenix team from Juyan will escort her."

Fei Huangjin raised an eyebrow at that.

"She also said she would gladly put a scar on my other cheek if I pushed for my way," he added.

"Did she, really?" Fei Huangjin released a small chuckle. They argued about her security detail a few days ago, and she adamantly refused to let some of the men from Dragon Club tail her around. It was then that the two were interrupted by a barrage of knocks on the door, before it was abruptly opened with a bang.

Fei Haocheng then rushed in with a large gift box and a wide smile. "Brother Huang!"

Guan Ting and Fei Huangjin looked at each other with exhausted expressions before the former left the room. If there was anyone more excited than the bride and groom for this wedding, it was Fei Haocheng.

"Brother Huang, Brother Huang!"

"What is it, Haocheng?" Fei Huangjin picked a leather watch from the array on the table and put it on.

"Here's your wedding gift!"

The groom sighed. "You're supposed to give that later. Am I supposed to lump that onto my back as I get married?" He asked sarcastically.

Haocheng was fazed, however, and even laughed unabashedly. "Of course, not! But I was too excited! No, actually at first, I was petrified that you were getting married—"

"I'm already married. The wedding ceremony was just a bit delayed."

"—Yes, yes. Anyway, like I was saying, at first I was petrified, but then something amazing happened. You wouldn't believe it!"

"…"

"Lina and I are engaged!" Fei Haocheng grinned broadly and wiggled his eyebrows at his older brother. He'd been chasing after Lina for quite some time, and had even been turned down multiple times already. But it was probably true that third time was the charm, because when he finally asked her to be his girlfriend last week, she said yes. And just this morning, he proposed to her right away!

Fei Huangjin blinked at him. He didn't even know the two were exclusively dating. "You're right; I don't believe it."

"Hya! Brother Huang, aren't you supposed to congratulate me?"

His question was met with a sigh. "Congratulations. I'm happy for you, truly." Fei Huangjin said the words in such a dull tone that it was hard for anyone to feel elated with his greeting.

But Fei Haocheng was too happy to let even his brother dampen his mood. Furthermore, today was his brother's big day anyway, so he'll let him have his way for now. He was about to tease him about how he was sure he'd hate the long ceremony when he saw Huangjin's bow tie that was crooked. He tsk-ed, "Brother Huang, you should've called me in here earlier. Look at you; you don't look decent enough. Let me give you a touch of Haocheng before grandpa gets here…" His hands reached out and re-did the bow tie. "Isn't that better? Ah, I wonder how Secretary Ying—I mean, sister-in-law—would look with her wedding dress on. You're excited, aren't you? Heh."

Fei Huangjin wanted to deny it, but he couldn't. There was a look of tenderness that crossed his face when he thought about Ying Yue in a wedding dress. "Mmm." He wondered how she was doing right now?

Haocheng balked at the weird vibe emanating off his older brother. He didn't even know his brother could look like a softie that way. Then, after a while, he shuddered. Huangjin may be smiling like a lovesick fool, but to him, Huangjin had that same look when he had plans to make people disappear from the face of the Earth.
