26.11.20: I will propably continue wirting at the end of this year. I have already reworked FTL and Psionics and have a plan of what to do.
23.12.20: As I said, I have reworked FTL and Psionics, but I have no idea of what to write. For now this novel is paused indefinitely. Maybe some day I will pick it up again. Prometheus the last invention of humanity.

In the year 20XX humans began an all out war which ended in the destruction of the biosphere and civilization.
Researchers from all over the world worked together in the last years of the war to store all information humanity has gathered and to create an AI that was worthy to be successor of them. 
This is where this story starts.

This is my first work, I hope you enjoy it!

Successor of humanity

After about 400 years the human population was beginning to reach a billion again, but this time there was a change, humans were now older. The old ones, those that were the survivors, began to talk about sensing a gigantic network. They say that it was there since the time humans became sentient, and it connected all of them. Not like the network that was made using microchips, but something that was grater.


All of them were examined and it was found out that they had a higher brain activity then the other humans. After making random tests in all of the humans, it was found out that the older one is higher the brain activity.


This was intriguing, because the humans were genetically modified to have the best possible use of their bodies and were connected to processors do to microchips in their brains. But somehow, they used more than 100%.


As humans reached a total of one billion, it was as if a barrier was broken. The old ones all fell into a coma like state. Whatever Prometheus tried it didn't work: Using the nanobots inside their bodies to reactivate their brains; using external stimulus, like sudden changes in temperature; or anything else to try to provoke a reaction. It did nothing. Then as a last resort method he used the nanobots to read their surface thoughts (This is what you see, feel and think at the moment about.) .


What he saw was nearly impossible to describe. They, the old ones, were in a place full of impossible colors  that were 'bright' in one direction and 'dark' on another, all of them were balls of light shining as bright as a lightbulb and they were connected by slight strings of light. They were in a ring of a billion lights most of them as bright as a candle. In the distance were many lights as bright as a star in the night sky, of them two were either connected by a line of light, or not. They were structured like a network.


After seeing all of this Prometheus decided to speak whit one of the old ones, Lew Utselet, to do this he used the nanobots to write a new memory for Lew which said: "Hello Lew, this is a memory made by me, Prometheus, as an attempt to speak whit you. You and the other initial survivors all have fallen into a coma like state, and no matter what I tried I just cannot wake you. I have seen this place that all of you are seeing and want you to tell me all you can about it."


As soon as this memory was made, Lew reacted and thought. "We are no longer Lew or the others, for we are one, I am the conduit to accent mankind to godhood." While that was thought Prometheus saw that the strings of light that were connecting the old ones were brightening up and began to pull their lights together.


After that a sudden gravitational anomaly was detected coming from the old ones and shrouding them. Prometheus saw that the lights of the old ones merged and shown as bright as a flashlight in a cloudy night. Then all of humanity heard a voice in their heads. "For those that became Gods, to guide the others is the meaning of their existence."
