26.11.20: I will propably continue wirting at the end of this year. I have already reworked FTL and Psionics and have a plan of what to do.
23.12.20: As I said, I have reworked FTL and Psionics, but I have no idea of what to write. For now this novel is paused indefinitely. Maybe some day I will pick it up again. Prometheus the last invention of humanity.

In the year 20XX humans began an all out war which ended in the destruction of the biosphere and civilization.
Researchers from all over the world worked together in the last years of the war to store all information humanity has gathered and to create an AI that was worthy to be successor of them. 
This is where this story starts.

This is my first work, I hope you enjoy it!

Successor of humanity

At this moment all of humanity unlocked their psionic potential. Every single one of them became linked by slight strains of light in this strange place that would later be named "Shroud". The linked network connected whit the fused old ones and knowledge began to be transmitted from them to all others.


This transmission of knowledge lasted for nine months, during which they only woke up to do what was necessary to stay alive. Prometheus wasn't to worried as he observed everything trough the minds of some people. What was the most interesting of all that happened, was that the knowledge Prometheus obtained couldn't be understood by him. No matter how many % of his processors he assigned it didn't work. He and Thot came to the conclusion that that knowledge could only be understood if one was inside of the Shroud. They also talked about the network they saw in the Shroud, because it looked exactly like a real time map of where the gates are but couldn't find out much about why they were visible there.


After the end of the nine months humanity was different. No word was spoken, no light things taken by hand and no organic food eaten. All of this was because the old ones shared the knowledge their subconsciousness had been collecting for one hundred years. After entering the Shroud ones subconscious would merge whit ones conscious and that gave one the knowledge that was collected by it and one began to understand way more than before. 


The strings of light that connected all of humanity made it possible that they all could communicate telepathically. The humans also began to be able to move light objects by using up some unknown type of energy that is used up in the Shroud and regenerates over time. Also, the already grown up humans did no longer need to eat food. While they still could, it only made them regenerate that unknown type of energy slowly. Instead they 'ate' electrical energy or heat energy, which lead them to have a faster regeneration. The humans also asked Prometheus to give them a miniature nuclear reactor to implant into their bodies so that they could have more energy available to them.


The humans also found out that the older on is the stronger one gets plus; the more humans join the network the faster ones abilities grow. It is thought that that happens because all of the minds are connected and exchange information.

But the humans are not the only ones to have breached the Shroud. Now that they did, they have attracted the attention of others, far older than all of humanity…
