Hunting a Daemon

A 13-year-old lass treads the uneven grounds of the forest. Her movements were light and quick, reminiscence of a professional tracker. This lass was no more than five feet flat. She was shorter than the ordinary 13-year-old, not to mention skinnier too.

She was Lilah and no one else. She was the only 13 years old who will brave the forest with a bow, an arrow, and a knife. She moved around with her body low as if she was stalking something.

She checked for signs on the ground and found little to nothing of an animal trail or even Daemons. Tracking is something done painstakingly and she knows of it all too well.

She had been doing it for the last two years and she is no better than an amateur. She heard that there are people who have the ability to see what can't be seen, but she has no such skill so she is moving slowly.

In this unnamed and unranked forest, there are Daemons of varying levels. She heard that these Daemons have their own distinctions.

She continued looking around and when she still couldn't find anything she got up on one of the tall trees and started looking around from a high vantage point. She tried jumping up, but the highest she could go was six meters up. She still needs to increase her STR and CON.

But in the end that single jumped of hers made the job a little bit easier. She got up and started looking around from the thick branch.

She analyzed everything with her eyes and soon she from the corner of her eyes she saw it, green text floating on mid-air, [Premas LVL 6], "A LVL 6 Premas? Its level is higher than mine, can I take it on? I never hunted a Premas but its name is green, so I should be fine."

Green – > Orange – > Red; such is the distinction of the danger level of an enemy. Green means it is doable, Orange means it will be challenging, and red means to avoid.

Premas can be compared to the Elks of ancient times. They have a large body about 10 feet on their body alone and they are twice the height of Lilah. Their horns are big and powerful and nonetheless so is their heads.

The Heads of a Daemon is extremely hard, every Daemon is like this too with an exception to a few Daemons. Lilah got down from the tree and began silently going in the direction of the name. Her treads were light and her movements were quick, she was already accustomed to this.

She may only be using traps right now, but she had a few jobs that are associated to kill about a year ago.

Lilah was LVL 3 and she needs seven more levels to reach LVL 10. She is aware of the warnings of her future self but she must do it in order to get out of this life.

She finally reached a proper location where she can see the target. She was viewing the Premas from a high vantage point, her body was lowered as much as possible and her clothes blend with the foliage. Fina was adjacent to her and as she made signs, Fina hurried along and moved around with her little body.

The Premas was just below the incline and it was serenely eating leaves. The Premas had thick brown fur and it was hard to pierce, but as Lilah brought out her bow and knocked an arrow, she exhaled and then breathed in the air.

She was silent, her eyes focused and her body steady, right now she was as steady as she could. She was no professional on archery, but she has a skill in it rather than on her knife skills. It was proof she was more proficient in it.

Letting go of the arrow, she aimed for the eyes, but the winds and her aim was not on her side and it stuck to the neck of the Premas. The Premas was alerted as the arrow was stuck in its neck pretty deeply and tried moved around in pain.

But it was not down. Daemons have high vitality and is not so simple to kill. It is completely different from the Red Beak Crow that is no more than a pseudo-Daemon.

The Premas caused a commotion as it wailed in pain, it was just about to run away, but Lilah called out, "Fina don't let it get away!"

"Nyaaa!"

A yellow flash appeared from the side and Fina came out. Its little body was not something that could compare to the Premas but when it came out and delivered a headbutt to the Premas, Fina managed to make it stagger and lose its balance.

Fina has a stat of 50 STR, it is only natural that its strength is something unnatural! Lilah saw this and fired another arrow to the Premas and this time it hit its foreleg making it unable to run away.

Even if it manages to get up and run it will not be able to go very far.

"Fina, end it!"

"Nyaa!" Fina used its active skill and its claws extended and it showed a brilliant yellow light. The sharpness increased and coupled with Fina's strength, it managed to get a clean cut on the neck of the Premas.

"Yes!" Lilah celebrated, she got excited for managing to kill an actual Daemon, but that was stupidity. The Premas saw her and when it saw the puny human celebrating it summoned its strength and with its hind legs kicked the ground to jump at Lilah.

Lilah froze when she saw the red eyes of a raging and desperate Premas that wished to take someone with it to death.

*Bam*

The Premas' attempt to take her to Hell was cut short by the incline. Its jump was not strong enough and it died shortly after.

"Meow!"

Fina jumped to levels and jumped in joy. It seems like it was intelligent despite how it looked.

It was a [Rare] Daemon after all.

In the system there are Grade, from low to high; Common (No color) – > Rare (Blue) – > Epic (Orange) – > Legendary (Dark Orange) – > Ancient (Purple). These Grades would increase as they evolve further. And to be completely honest a human's Grade is Common

Fina was Rare, the color refers to the color of the page it has in the Compendium. Lilah only knew of it through the notes but she has no Compendium with her as she needs to buy it from the Shop.

While Fina was happy, Lilah was breathing heavily. The shock of almost dying was imprinted to her and she fell on her behind. But once she got used to it, she calmed herself down and she moved forward.

She committed the memory in her mind and how she should be very careful from now. A hunt is only done when the prey is dead and has breathed its last.

Other than that, Lilah looked at the body of the Premas and with that, she thought, 'How should I bring this back?'
