Exposed

I don't think trying to lie or dance around the truth with this woman would work. The vibe she gave off was that of a don't lie to me or you will regret it. I really wish the last 3 days could just be reset. I may be about to make a huge mistake but at this point, it's better than lying knowing it won't work on her. "Would you believe me if I said I was transferred here after touching a rock that blinded me."

The old lady said nothing and studied my face before sighing. "Well, honestly what is my sister up to now?" She started to pace the floor in front of me mumbling under her breath while I couldn't get the word sister out of my head. Now that I thought about it, that old bat had the same eyes as Ayame.

I was on my feet in seconds screaming "What do you mean that old bat is your sister? Can you explain why after I saved her from some ass hat she sent me here? She said something about having a safe trip home and finding what I need. Last I checked this is not my home." I know it's not her fault but I couldn't help yelling at her. I just couldn't see why her sister would do this to me. I may not have had much back home but at least it was something. I was missing out on the latest episode of My Hero Academia just because I tried helping someone like a decent person should.

Ayame had stopped and was staring at me wide-eyed. "Your hair, it's glowing." I looked down and sure enough, my shoulder-length hair was glowing again. Not this again. "It's a side effect of what your sister did to me. When I got here my hair and eyes were glowing."

"It's not a side effect, it is your aura and a strong one. Dear, I think my sister sent you here because you never belonged over there." Her eyes were no longer big and round but now soft and gentle as she held my hand. "Auras are a unique thing only found in this world. How do I explain this." She tilted her head in thought for a second." One aura is their soul's power and the brighter the more powerful one is."

"That makes no sense. I am not from here. My dad is back in the other world and he's normal."It stung a little thinking about him still but he is normal and no way shifts into an animal-like Orpheus.

"What about your mom?"

My mother died in childbirth and that's all I knew about her after all Dad was not one for talking. Not to mention I have no other relatives to speak of or too about her. I shook my head.

Ayame sat me back down and remained quiet as she thought things over. I had a lot going through my own mind as I tried to understand why my world was not my home. How could a normal average 'human' me have an aura? None of this made sense unless my Mom had a secret she took to her grave.

Ayame must have been thinking the same because of her next words. "Your Mother must have been from here. I can't see any other way you could have an aura from what you have told me." She stood up and walked other to a table on the far side of the room. When she came back she had a small book. Inside was a rock with four symbols on it. "This is an ancestral rock and it can tell you many things I can not." She set it in the palm of my hand "Concentrate on it and ask it what you want to know about your family."

For real? What kind of stone can answer my question? She didn't have a reason to lie to me but this just seemed complete bonkers. I let out a big breath, what do I have to lose. Concentrating on the stone I closed my eyes and asked "Was my mom human?"
