Shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot. Jason looked around the hill he was on. Absolutely nothing was near him. Only the sun that was slowly disappearing and the occasional gust of wind that chilled Jason to the bone. Jason pulled out his sword and help his shovel in his other hand. He slowly backed up until the wall of the wizard tower hit his back.
Nothing was near him except for the fading light and the traps that he had made. The whistle of the wind started to scare the crap out of him. Jason's head swiveled from side to side in fear. He felt like something was going to jump out at him anytime soon. He was getting scared to blink fearing that the moment he did that some grotesque monster would jump up.
The wind blew past him in a creepy "woooooo" sound and Jason's entire body again cringed. He touched the sleeping bag that was next to him on the wall.
The invisible force stopped him from moving his hand any further.
[you cannot sleep there are monsters nearby]
That message only served to give Jason stress and anxiety is seems. Jason's head swiveled left and right. The path that he was supposed to go through was a dense forest. That was in front of him and every leaf or branch that fell made Jason hyper-focused and even more scared.
Suffice to say Jason hated these types of environments. Whenever he was told to play a horror game he would run away screaming. And this environment.... hot dang it was sorta like a certain game where you were sitting at a desk and had to watch out for mechanical monsters. Jason had really bad memories playing that game. And currently, life wasn't really helping him forget them either.
Jason looked at his defensive traps one more time before the sunset completely. He had dug and entire moat that surrounded him in a semicircle that started and ended at the wizard towers walls. Metal spikes were planted all around the ditch so any person that fell in would have a very hard time getting out. Since they sorta got impaled by spikes along the way down. Jason had two metal spikes with him just in case sometime happened. And at this point, he was pretty sure that something was going to happen.
Again a cold breeze hit Jason's back, whispering "woooooo" in a sinister scary voice. Jason gripped his sword even tighter. And Boops started to freak out with Jason. Looks like both of them couldn't handle scary stuff very well as Boops started to scream in Jason's head the third time the cold wind hit Jason's sweat-soaked back.
'HOLY FRICK JASON, GET US OUTA HERE'
Jason responded in an angry tone
"YEAH I WOULD LOVE TO, IT'S JUST THAT IM KINDA STUCK HERE WITH A WIZARD TOWER AT MY BACK AND A CREEPY FOREST IN THE FRONT."
Boops responded in an even more angry and scared tone
'HAAA WHATCHU SAYING BOI IM SURE YOU CAN FIGURE SOMETHING OUT... SOMEHOW'
Jason responded in the most pissed tone he could manage in his head, in fact, he was so pissed that he almost yelled out loud.
"HAAAAA YOUR THE SYSTEM PERSON YOU SHOULD BE THE ONE DOING ALL THAT CRAP"
Boops quieted down at Jason's answer and thought about it for a moment. He searched and searched for an answer but due to the scary circumstance surrounding them both, he really couldn't give it any thought so he just angrily accepted his defeat.
'touchè Jason touchè'
"yup, now you know your place Boops hehe"
'hold up, nevermind the war starts again, Jason prepare to lose epicly to me!'
"hah ill take you on anytime loser"
'tch, that wasn't a defeat it was a tactical retreat'
"yeah yeah nice excuses LOSER"
'ALRIGHT, A FIGHT IT IS, wait did you hear that?'
Jason and Boops stopped their little squabble and Jason returned to swiveling his head at a furious pace. Jason asked Boops quickly
"What did you hear Boops?"
'um, the system had a recording going on at all times, ill play the sound back from the last minute.'
Jason and Boops both quieted down to listen to the recording. Thanks to the system which had removed the loud noises of Jason and Boops's squabble they were able to listen closely. From the outside noise recording, Jason and Boops only heard the trees rustling from the wind. The occasionally creepy wind sound and that was it. Except for one thing. Jason asked Boops quietly
"was that a groan?"
'yeah, that was definitely what I heard.'
"t-that groan sounds so familiar and yet so scary"
'i agree it sounds like it's from an inhuman being or something'
"it sounds too familiar to me for some reason, but I can't really wrap my head around it. I swear I have heard that sound in my old world somewhere."
Boops peeked out throw Jason's eyes before Jason closed them to think.
'Hey Jason'
Jason kept on muttering to himself. Thinking hard
"hmm I'm sure I've heard it somewhere"
'Jason'
"seriously where have a heard that groaning noise before"
'JASON'
"mhm it's like I heard it many times in my world, but at the same time not in reality but in a game of sorts"
'JASON GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR BUTT AND OPEN YOUR FRICKING EYES'
Jason opened his eyes under Boops's promoting and there stood, what Jason was trying to remember for so long.
It stood on two legs and was in a humanoid shape. No more than a humanoid shape. Its arms laid there limp. Its head sometimes rolling in impossible positions. It staggered to Jason, the creature opened its withered and old mouth and let out a groan. Its flesh old and withered.
Jason clasped his hands together.
"Ah! that's right its a zombie noise from...."
'WAIT WAIT DON'T SAY IT WE WILL BE HIT BY THE CURSE IF WE DO'
"the curse?"
'ill explain it to you later'
Jason remembered the main problem in front of them.
"oh yeah, the zombie"
Jason looked at the zombie that was emerging from the forest slowly. More and more shadows were coming through the forest though. He was sure eventually he was going to face an entire zombie horde. Yeah, frick he was screwed.
At least that was what he thought, in his head, he had a few options. Run as the zombies were much slower than him. But if they were the type of zombies that could sense the living then that wasn't going to work. The other option was to defend. Hah, stupid idea. Only a crazy person would do that.
Jason grabbed his sword stuck his sleeping bag into his inventory and cleaned up all of the supplies that he had into his inventory. He looked back at the zombie. That zombie was now joined by another dozen of his brethren and Jason knew that more was coming for him.
Jason gripped his sword slapped his helmet on his head and started to run full sprint. Into the growing zombie horde. Was he crazy right now? yes. Now you may ask what the last reasonable person Jason might listen to was telling him.
Well about him....
'HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA SIC EM JASON, BE DA ZOMBIE SLAYER REKT THEM UNTIL THEIR BONES ROT, GIMME DEM EXP AND POINTS HAHAHHAHAHAHA'
Jason jumped over his 5-foot pit easily and rushed to the zombie hoard. For what reason he jumped over his last bastion of defense to assault the enemy. No clue.
On the plus side, the zombies were known for being slow so with Jason's high agility he jumped through their swipes and attacks and easily cut off their heads like it was a dance, with how nimble he was. Jason didn't have time to check what the zombie's levels were but they were pretty high since he needed to put in almost all of his strength to lop off a zombies head.
Currently, Jason was serving, none of the zombies could hit him even if they all collectively attacked him. Unfortunately for Jason zombies employed the numbers strategy to the utmost limit, and already roars and groans were sounding from the forest, all of them collectively getting closer and closer to Jason.
Jason started to pant for breath. He looked at the zombies that were approaching him and took out his cheap plastic shovel in a flourish like it was going to do some difference. Jason gave off a grin like he knew what he was doing, (he didn't).
With Boops cheering him on and with a shovel in hand and the sword in the other he charged again. Later Boops attributed this time and battle as to when Jason awakened his battle junkie side.
[you have earned the title battle junkie]
[battle junkie: if the time you spend in battle exceeds 2 hours, your combat power rises by 10%]
Another cold breeze flew over them and chilled Jason while he was fighting.
