don't have Peter started panicking and didn't know how to react to this situation. He had a weird expression on his face. He tried to hide his emotions, but it was too late...
"Haha" Peter laughed awkwardly. "I take it back, you're good at making jokes"
"Peter, we both know that this isn't a joke"
"What do you mean?"
"Harry told that to me, why would he lie?" Gwen asked emotionally.
"Because it's Harry. You probably didn't get his sarcasm and just took it too seriously" Peter responded.
"Is he pretending? Doesn't look like it, but it could be. I should convince him that I know that he's Spider-Man" Gwen thought.
"Peter, there are far too many facts that support Harry's words"
"Gwen, you're just exaggerating. Look at me, any criminal would beat with one hand"
"That's the thing, they would do that a year ago to you, but not now. You became a completely different person in a short period"
"What do you mean? People change a lot during their teenage years"
"Yes but... the thing that was happening to you was different. I could feel it. People don't change that fast, even teenagers. You were always getting high grades without even trying that hard, but during this year you were studying so hard as if the future of the universe depended on it. You were busy all day and night, doing martial arts and studying. We didn't even go out or talk that often. You just changed..."
"These are just regular things..."
"No, they weren't. Your personality just changed completely around the time Spider-Man appeared in the city. You became much more confident than you were and much stronger... to the point when it was simply scary"
"Scary?"
"Yes, I remember watching you beating Flash in front of everyone. I told you that it was the right thing to do, which was true, but... you just acted as you didn't have any emotions when you were doing that"
"Gwen, I just got tired of being scared of him and his gang. I decided to change everything because If I didn't, nobody would"
"That's exactly the opposite of what you would say a year ago, that's the change I'm talking about. I'm sorry Peter but you were the last person I expected to go against Flash... You frightened so much that he transferred to another school."
"What? I didn't know that. Did he do that because of me?" Peter asked emotionally.
"Yes, partly"
"Partly?"
"It's hard to explain. Because of what you did last year other students started feeling more confident as well. People who were getting bullied by Flash grouped up and started doing the same to him and his gang. It even led to his friends turning against him in front of everyone. He was getting bullied by the whole school, so he changed"
Peter felt really disappointed in himself after her words, he was upset as his actions led to everyone turning against a teenager like him. Sure Flash wasn't a good person, but he was only 16. People can change at that age, even the worst ones.
"He looks disappointed, looks like he believed into the fairy tail I just made up. Oh my God, why am I even doing this?... I need to find out the truth, but our relationship will suffer because of my lies." Gwen thought.
"She isn't lying. What have I done? Flash deserved punishment but not to that extent. She said that I changed a lot, she's 100% sure that I'm Spider-Man... fucking Harry, I'll talk to him later. Why did he say that to her? I need to find out" Peter thought.
"When did Harry say that to you?"
"It's a long story... I was sitting in the reception when he came back from the bar. He was drunk, probably because his football (soccer) team lost. He sat next to me and started talking about you. He admires what you're doing, catching criminals and protecting the innocent. I didn't understand what he was talking about until he said that you're Spider-Man. At that moment everything changed for me, I felt like I found the last piece of a puzzle"
"Hahaha, Gwen... you were soo close to tricking me. Haha... Harry always hated football, he found it really boring. He would rather study than watch a single match. You were lying to me all this time... you were trying to find out what my alter ego is, but you don't have any proof. I just need to act as if I'm angry on Harry" Peter thought in his head before acting.
"He believed me, now I just need to do the final step to convince him that I know his identity. Peter, you don't even believe what I found out yesterday..." Gwen thought before making a final step.
"She believed me, I can that in her eyes. I just need to make a final step to show her that I'm not Spider-Man. All she has are her weird fantasies, I already won..." Peter thought before Gwen added...
"I went to the main office of Daily Bugle and Mr. Jameson. I know that you write all of the articles about Spider-Man because you are him"
"How... HOW DOES SHE KNOW?!" Peter screamed deep inside.
