CALEB IGNORES HIS MOM

To show his dissatisfaction Caleb refuted, "It seems as though in order for I to get some privacy in this house mom, I would have to either lock my door or leave this house."

"You won't do that son, this house will be yours someday," his mother said in a matter-of-fact tone, and she believed that he wouldn't leave the house though matter what happen.

Margret ignored his comment and walked over to the bed and sat next to his feet as she faced him and started talking.

Caleb listened to her speak about Petal and her lifestyle, and what would happen if they cannot provide the dowry.  Then she started with the business and the sacrifice she and his father made. It seems like it's no end because it was from one topic to another.

When she did pause thinking that was the end of all the talking she said, "Caleb my son, if we don't meet the dowry, what a shame and disgrace our family will have to face, son, try putting yourself in your father's position, he would have to bend his head in shame, I don't think you want to see that?"

She then moved on to another topic, he looked at her then turned away thinking, 'I thought she didn't want to talk, but since she sat down she hasn't stopped talking. It looks like I am the only one to save the family name while the others just abuse their salary and continue to take from the family business.

Feeling like his head will explore but talking back to her is completely out of the question. It will cause a rift and he won't hear the end of it.

Closing his eyes just allowing her to rattle on as he ignores her constantly rattling on, he scans through the newspaper but there was nothing that caught his interest.

Then out of the blues, the young lady's face flashes in front of him like a lifesaver. Caleb closes his eyes and reminisces about her just to occupy his time not having any idea how long she will continue.

Without thinking Caleb raised the newspaper so she wouldn't see his face thinking, 'Am I the house deliverer? But they lie, nobody is going to shanghai me into a marriage that I don't want.'

When Margaret turned towards him and saw him hiding his face she shouted,  "Look at me when I am speaking to you, this Sunday we will be entertaining guests and I want you to be home, and I don't want any excuse."

"Sorry mom, but I have some business to attend to," Caleb said immediately, he really didn't want to have any part in their plan.

"Yes, just like Petal I presume," his mother refuted.

"Mom, you are getting this all wrong, I don't sleep around and get women pregnant, besides there are so many carriers of disease. I like myself and if this house is heading for hell, I have no plans or intention of going there."

"So what about that leach that you have riding your car and her claws all over you?"
