CALEB REGRET

CALEB REGRET

Having no choice at his stores', Caleb knew things weren't good although he had already sold one store to try and of-set the heavy credits. as the week progressed, he was left with no choice he had to sell his car seeing now his dad wasn't using his van since he got sick so he took it.

They were no longer in bankruptcy, but he had to make some fast decisions. Caleb went to store three and set up a ten per cent sale sign and placed it on all the old stock.

That day was productive and now he had some cash inside to offset some other bills.

May had completed, and when June stepped in so did another set of bills that has put him on the spot. Caleb had to use his savings to meet another payment of over half a million, once more thinking of his father's legacy.

The second week in June came, he was leaning on the wall waiting but instead of her leaving the mall, she came running inside. Seeing her made his heart feel glad, but she had lost some weight, she had on a dark blue suit and was wearing dark shades.

'Caleb decides to wait until she returns, it won't be long again, most of the stores were closing already. Seeing all of her friends left as well as the gentleman, but she wasn't with them.' He straightened himself thinking that she must have used another entrance and left the building.

Five-o-clock came and there was still no sign of her, "I was wondering how long again you were going to stand here when all the stores are already closed?"

"Are you spying on me, Jezell?"

"Spying? That word sounds a bit harsh, don't you think? but I once told you I will be watching your back, so don't be offended I am just keeping my promise."

"Yes, yes, how could I forget, since you are here and making sure I am safe, how about we go for burgers, I am starving and I must thank you for watching my back?"

"Okay, you don't have to be mellow dramatic on me now, and I was just kidding, so tell me were you waiting on someone?"

"Yes, I have a business arrangement to discuss with someone, but it seems the gentleman is running late or must have forgotten. I am sure you heard we sold one of the stores?"

"Yes, the rumor was circulating every turn I made, is that why you were away these few days?"

Looking at her, Caleb ponders carefully in his heart, 'If she is keeping her eyes on me, I am sure she must have seen me waiting around here the entire week so why hasn't she said anything?' Before he speaks he considers what to say, next thing he put his foot in his mouth. "I was busy trying to unfix the mess my family made, but for now the future looks promising."

Observing the way she keeps glancing up at him, 'God I am sure she figured out that I am hiding something from her. Jezell had only just sat in the van when he glimpsed the young lady running with a briefcase. Caleb decided to follow her, but then there was a group of pedestrians crossing the street, causing him to lose her.

When he did pull out the curb this white BMW came almost hitting him, 'She has disappeared so quickly, now I will never get to see her.'

The hunger and desire for burgers had gone out the window and he was unable to say anything before Jezell suspected.

At the burger palace, he just sat down and nibbled on his burger, that is when Jezell snorted out, "Why do some people have to flaunt their car as though they are the only ones who could own luxurious vehicles?"

'Oh boy, I thought she was going to say I was saying that I was starving,' but turned to her and asked, "You said something?"

"Yes, that  BMW that almost hit you just drove by, but the driver reminds me of someone," Caleb ignored her mumbling as she ate, and was never in a hurry. Mad with himself for even suggesting they have burgers.

He wasn't even in the mood to talk anyhow, when she suddenly hit her hand on the table saying, "That's it," Caleb thought he had done something when she said, "I remember, she was on a serious discussion about dowry in a talk show."

"Who are you talking about Jezell?" Thinking, 'Women are so complicated, most of the time I can hardly understand them.  "Caleb, that woman who was driving the BMW who almost hit your car, she was in a talk show."

Jezell, for God's sake, please be quiet you continue to confuse me, and now you are giving me a headache, how on earth could you see a person on a radio talk show?"

"Caleb, she was on the television, that is how I recognize her, and what is wrong with you? You haven't been yourself the entire evening.
