Chapter 39: Entering His Apartment (3)

But she didn't want to tell the truth, nor did she want to force her.

"I'll take you back," Yang Danning said, taking hold of Ji Anning's hand.

Before they had taken a step, Ji Chicheng, who had been silently standing by without saying a word, spoke up, "It's too late. You go back. I'll take her with me."

As he spoke, his tall figure had already arrived in front of Ji Anning.

Accustomed to being aloof, anyone who made eye contact with him felt a sense of being looked down upon, as if by a king, an aura that made it difficult to argue.

Out of instinct, Yang Danning let go of Ji Anning's hand, paused for a moment, then when she realized what was happening, a look of joy flashed in her eyes.

She thought Ji Chicheng was showing concern for her.

"Okay," she said happily, nodding at Ji Chicheng with sparkling, excited eyes before turning to remind Ji Anning, "Take a hot shower when you get home, try not to think about anything, get a good night's sleep, and don't forgive Ji Jingfeng too easily."

Ji Anning pressed her lips together and smiled faintly, somewhat bitter.

Yang Danning watched Ji Anning get into Ji Chicheng's car, waved goodbye to them, and then left.

'Achoo'

The car Ji Chicheng was driving hadn't been turned off, so the air conditioning was still running, and Ji Anning sneezed several times as soon as she got in.

The car was filled with the scent of the perfume Ji Chicheng often used, subtle and noble.

Being in the same car with Ji Chicheng, especially his car, gave her a sense of oppression, and she tried to sneeze without making a sound.

She didn't dare to lift her head, didn't dare to look at the man in front, didn't dare to glance at his cold profile.

Through the rearview mirror, the man watched Ji Anning as she sat there with her head down, looking lost and lonely. His eyes flickered with mischief, a hint of triumph.

At the same time, the cold light in his eyes slowly melted, turning into a pool of gentle water shimmering softly.

Ji Anning felt her nose running and sniffled.

"There are tissues in the back," he said suddenly, turning to glance at her.

Ji Anning lifted her head in surprise, looking at Ji Chicheng, who had already turned his gaze back to the road.

After a moment of realization, she turned around, found some tissues behind her, took a few, wiped her face, and then blew her nose very discreetly, for fear of making an inelegant sound and displeasing the young master.

Suddenly, she noticed that the shivering of her body had stopped, and she was no longer cold.

The air conditioning was off!

Ji Anning realized belatedly but couldn't help feeling surprised, as even though it was already autumn, the temperature was still quite high.

She was wet from perspiration, and now without the air conditioning, she found it stuffy. And he, who was usually so bothered by heat...

He was very sensitive to heat, usually keeping the air conditioner on until late autumn, when others had already started wearing long sleeves.

Thinking this, Ji Anning felt somewhat touched; it was rare for the Crown Prince to show consideration and turn off the air conditioning.

Her head felt weak as she leaned against the window, looking at the man in the driver's seat. Her lips curved in a complex smile.

Her head was heavy and drowsy, and her runny nose was non-stop, a sign of an impending cold.

She closed her eyes slowly, planning to rest for a bit, not expecting to fall asleep.

"Ji Anning."

Not knowing how long she had slept, she heard someone calling her and, feeling irritated, frowned. Her head ached, and she was so sleepy that she didn't want to open her eyes, ready to change her position and continue sleeping.

Suddenly, she remembered something and abruptly opened her eyes.

Meeting a pair of deep black eyes, she was startled and quickly gathered her wits, "Uncle."

Looking at the man in front, she called out to him. Her gaze then swept around, noticing they were in an underground parking lot. Puzzled, she looked at Ji Chicheng, "Uncle, where are we?"
