Chapter 40: Entering His Apartment (4)

"Are you planning to go back in this state?" Ji Chicheng glanced at Ji Anning's clothes and raised an eyebrow at her.

"Uh..." Ji Anning also looked down at her own clothes, which were still damp and clinging tightly to her body.

Grandfather's household rules were so strict, going back like this was indeed not appropriate.

But... where was this place? What was she doing here?

Amid her confusion, the man in the driver's seat had already unbuckled his seatbelt and gotten out of the car, his tall figure standing outside the car door, unconsciously imposing pressure.

Ji Anning stuck out her tongue and obediently followed him out of the car.

"Follow me."

Ji Chicheng coldly dropped a sentence to Ji Anning and turned to walk towards the elevator indicated by the road sign arrow.

He had always been sparing with words, anyway he was not going to sell her, there was no need to ask anything, just to follow him would be enough.

Once inside the elevator, Ji Anning realized that this was a residential complex, and a high-end one at that. The elevator was spacious, moved quickly, and there was even a voice announcement for the floors.

The forty-sixth floor was announced, and when the report ended, the elevator doors slowly opened.

The reality of the environment was even more luxurious than she had imagined; even the elevator entrance had air conditioning.

Ji Anning felt somewhat cold, shrunk her neck, and surveyed her surroundings; there were only two apartments in total.

Ji Chicheng walked up to the door of one of them, pressed his thumb on the fingerprint lock, and the door opened.

Ji Anning was astonished. Could this be... his apartment outside?

She stood there with her mouth open, stunned, looking at Ji Chicheng in surprise that he would bring her to his house.

Seeing Ji Anning standing there dumbfounded, a mischievous smile flickered in Ji Chicheng's eyes, though his face frowned with impatience, "What are you standing there for? Planning to go back at dawn?"

Saying this, he withdrew his gaze and stepped into the house.

"Oh, right." Ji Anning nodded her head, answered him, and hurriedly followed.

Ji Chicheng expertly found the switch; it was the main switch for the lights in the house, turning on all the lights and making the room bright and clear, with all the furnishings and decorations clearly visible.

The living room alone was about seventy square meters, furnished only with the essentials, all in cool colors.

Indescribably dominant and powerful, it was Ji Chicheng's style, it was his taste.

He didn't like fuss, didn't like complications, the simpler the better.

"Change your shoes."

While Ji Anning was taking in her surroundings, Ji Chicheng had already changed his shoes, picked out a pair of his large slippers from the shoe cabinet, and tossed them next to Ji Anning's feet.

Then he turned and walked inside the house.

"Uncle," Ji Anning came back to her senses, looked at Ji Chicheng's retreating back anxiously called out and then, forgetting to wear the slippers, she went after him barefoot, "Uncle, why did you bring me to your house?"

Ji Chicheng stopped walking, turned around, and looked at Ji Anning expressionlessly, "Why do you think I brought you here?"

Ji Anning's face turned red instantly, making it seem as though she was suspecting him of bringing her to his house with ulterior motives.

She was really just curiously asking. She wasn't without self-awareness, nor was she brainless. How could she possibly suspect that?

Ji Anning grumbled internally while Ji Chicheng's voice rang out again, "There are several sets of clothes in my house that might fit you. The closet in the room on your right, go and pick something to change into. The old man has not been doing well recently. Adjust your state and don't provoke him. I just remembered that I still have a little bit of work to do. Wait for me after you have changed."
