Yanyan

A little girl came running their way and was followed by her nanny. Her raven-black hair fell in perfect curls on her creamy smooth, small shoulders and her soft, hazel eyes were looking at them.

The girl was bright and beautiful. Ye Shuxin had to rip her eyes away from her the moment that she saw her since the light filter that was coming from the small girl was so blinding. She looked like a small angel, flying her way towards her. The little girl has more of her father's looks except for her round eyes.

There was sunshine in her smile and her voice went right to her brain like a shot of single malt.

"Daddy!"

Jin Mingze's gaze softened when he saw his daughter. He crouched down and carried her up in his arms.

Ye Shuxin never expected that she was going to see such a sight from him, after all, she thought that he was the type of person who was going to have a hard time displaying gentle and soft emotions. She never imagined that a frigid man like him had a tender side.

Of course, Jin Mingze didn't forget that his new wife was there, so he turned to her, this time, the look on his face was back, blank and void of emotions, "Meet my daughter, Jin Yan."

His daughter turned to the woman standing beside his father and let out one of her blinding smiles, "Are you Yanyan's mommy?"

Her father didn't expect that question at all and so was Ye Shuxin.

She quickly regained her calmness since it was time for her to act, she let out the softest smile she could muster, "Yes, you can say that."

"No, don't call her that. She's not your mother." Jin Mingze coldly said.

The little girl suddenly looked confused, she was looking at Ye Shuxin then to her father a few times. It was as if all the excitement disappeared from Yanyan's eyes. Her imaginary puppy ears went down, "Not Yanyan's mommy?"

For some reason, Ye Shuxin's heart trembled and melted when she saw how adorable the little girl was.

No, she can't be deceived by that child's cute looks!

"I am not your real mommy." Ye Shuxin said with a small smile, "But I can be your new mommy if you want to."

Jin Mingze ended up glaring at Ye Shuxin to which she only ignored.

It wasn't mentioned in the contract that she was not allowed to have his daughter call her 'Mother'. Aside from that, children were easy to deceive. If she wanted to have Jin Mingze's heart open, his daughter was the only way.

Little Yanyan, grew up without a mother and so she grew envious whenever she saw other kids walking around with their mothers. Whenever she would ask her father where her mother was, he would always reply, "She's gone." And she would always request him to look for her.

She has always yearned for maternal love so it really didn't matter if Ye Shuxin was her real mother or not.

The little girl reached out to the woman her father brought, "Mommy..."

Jin Mingze's heart trembled when he saw his daughter reaching out to Ye Shuxin.

He didn't want to give his daughter to her but the moment he saw his daughter's longing gaze, he ended up giving in.

Based on Yanyan's reaction he deduced that she would easily accept Ye Shuxin as her mother. Growing up without a mother made one longed for it.

Ye Shuxin somehow understood what the little girl felt since she grew up without a father.

Since Yanyan was reaching out to her, Jin Mingze finally gave her to Ye Shuxin.

The warm sensation that Yanyan felt lingered around her mother's gentle embrace to the point her eyes became teary.

"Mommy..." She hugged her by her neck and rested her smooth cheek against her new mother's cheek.

Carrying Yanyan made Ye Shuxin think that she was carrying a soft fluffy toy.

She has thought that she would end up disliking the little girl once she sees her but what was this lingering warmth in her chest?

Ye Shuxin finally faced her husband and with a genuine gentleness in her eyes, she said, "I'll do my best to take care of her while I'm here."

Those obsidian-glass eyes rimmed with thick, long, dark lashes that brushed her cheeks every time she closed her eyes, seemed to bore into him as he looked into it. He nearly got lost in her eyes if he didn't look away.
