An Incident 5.2

"There's no one here!" A different man answered back, whispering just as loud.

"The neighbors might, with all the ruckus you're causing."

Lexie strained her ears to listen, she didn't recognize the voices. Her mind was raising, heart beating so loudly in her chest she worried they might hear it. Who are those people? Why are they here? They can't possibly be looking for her, right? How would anyone know where she is, she was so careful.

She heard the men moving towards Kaylee's office, she carefully and slowly got up, creeping to the door.

'I just need to get out of here, that's all I need to do.' She thought to herself as she tried to stay calm. Every step she took, she stopped to listen for the men. It seemed like they were rummaging Kaylee's office.

Step, she hears drawers being opened. Step, now they moving around the chairs and desk. Step, it sounded like a cabinet being opened. Step, then he heard one of the man shout. "I found something!"

Finally, Lexie reached the door, but her heart sank when she saw it was padlocked from the inside. Those men must wanted to make sure nobody would enter while they were still there.

Her mind raced, what was she going to do? She gently tugged on the lock, making sure they were actually locked. She already knew they were, but was still disappointed when she confirmed it. She quickly went to the back of the bar counter, trying her best to stay quiet. She could no longer hear what the men upstairs were doing and it made her even more nervous.

She looked around, trying to find some scissors or anything to help her pry open the padlock. It wasn't that big of a lock, she was sure she could do it. She slowly reached through, opening drawers one by one, looking through each. The slow pace annoyed her, but she had to be careful. In the drawer at the very end of the counter, she finally found something she thinks she could use. It was one of those corkscrews that looked like a Swiss knife, it could also be used as a bottle opener. She looked at it closely, deciding it was good enough.

As she was about to turn, she froze to her spot as a voice called out.

"Hey you!" One of the men was standing outside Kaylee's door, pointing at Lexie. "There's someone here!" He then run towards Lexie grabbing her hands just after she hid the corkscrew on the waistband of her underwear. The man kept her hands behind her. Just then, the second man walked towards her.

"Hey, it's that pretty waitress." He smirked, raising his hand to touch her face. Lexie quickly shifted her head to the side, avoiding the man's hand. He just laughed at the action.

"Oh yeah. The one who dropped the key." Said the man that was still holding on to her.

Lexie's eyes widened, it was just for a second but the man in front of her noticed. Once again, he laughed, raising his hand to touch her, making sure he got her face this time.

"Pretty pretty face. You should really be more careful with your things you know, walking around with that bag of yours opened, dropping keys everywhere. It's a good thing we tried the bar first, if it didn't work we would've tried finding you house instead." He whispered to her. He was standing too close to her and Lexie tried her best to move away from him, it repulsed her that someone like him was touching her. At the mention of where she lived, Lexie almost glanced at the booth seat where her things were, but she was able to stop herself last minute. These men didn't know that she was staying here and she didn't want to volunteer that information.

"Why are you here? What do you want?" She spat out to the man standing too close to her.

"Oh, we already got what we want. Although, it wasn't as much as we were expecting." He shifted, removing his hand from Lexie's face - to her relief, and grabbing at the strap of the bag that hang in his shoulder. Lexie didn't notice it earlier.

"Then leave. There's nothing else here." She answered, amazed by how clear and strong her voice was although she was nervous and to quite scared.

"There's you." The man that was holding on to her suddenly whispered to her ears from behind.

Lexie shuddered, she felt the breathe coming from the man, it was warm and sticky and disgusting. What are they gonna do to me? She couldn't keep the disgust from her face as she unsuccessfully pulled away from the man grabbing her.

The man in front of her laughed in amusement, he likes it when girls are feisty. And he had actually been eyeing the new waitress since the first night she started here. He even came to the bar more frequent than he used to just to see her.

Lexie can see the man in front of her staring at her, looking all over her body, it was revolting. She saw the man's eyes getting darker as he stepped towards her.

"I'm gonna scream." Lexie said a little too loudly, revealing a little sense of how frightened she was.

She cursed herself internally, she shouldn't be emotional, that's not gonna help with anything.

The man smiled, a creepy smile as he heard her. "Then we are just gonna have to kill you then pretty face."

"Just leave! You already got what you wanted right." Lexie managed to control her voice this time.

"But now I have something else I want." The man was close enough to whisper in her ear. She moved away but he held her chin tight so she wouldn't be able to.

The laughter of the men enraged Lexie, then with one swift motion, she kneed the guy in front of her right between his legs. He buckled down, groaning in pain. Before the man behind her could react, she threw her head back causing it to him straight in the nose. She wasn't sure, but she thinks she heard something crack. The man cried out in pain, releasing her hands. Lexie quickly moved towards Kaylee's office, making as much noise as possible. She knocked down the trays of booze she passed by, she prayed that the noise made by all the breaking glass would alert the neighbors. They were in a semi-commercial area, so she knows a lot of shops will be opening soon.

Lexie ran to the office, not bothering to look back, locking the door as soon as she got in. She looked around, and pushed the desk to the door, making a barricade. Once again, she looked around the room not finding any telephone. "Of course there wouldn't be a landline." she muttered to herself. Nowadays, most people use cellphones.

"Open up!" The men were banging on the door. Thankfully, it didn't budge.

"Come on man, let's go. Someone must have heard the crash." The man who was holding her a while ago was pulling on his companion.

"That bitch kneed mo in the balls!" The other man screamed, banging harder. The door shook but held out.

Lexie was still looking around the room trying to figure something out. There are rails on the window, so she couldn't pass through there, there are no phones, no weapons I think cause the men would have probably already gotten those.

"Come on, think. Think!" Lexie tried to ignore the continuous banging. She then moved to the window.

There is a cafe right in front of it, but they were still closed. It was already starting to get bright out, it was probably around 6 already. Lexie knew she couldn't wait here forever. The 2 men are now both banging on the door.

She opened the window wide and took out the corkscrew she hid earlier, and with all her might, threw it across to the cafe window. She saw it hit the window and heard the glass crack. She looked back at the room looking for anything she could throw. Her eyes landed on a couple of shot glasses at the corner shelf, she grabbed those and went back to the window.

The first throw was a little short, it didn't even reach the cafe window and just dropped and broke on the ground. Channeling all her energy, she threw the second shot glass.

"Yes!" She screamed as it hit the cafe window, causing it to break. Moments later, a middle aged man came looking at the window from inside the cafe. He looked surprised and confused at the shattered glass in his floor. Then her looked up, hearing someone calling from the window across. A girl was waving frantically, her whole arm outside of the rail.

"Call someone! There are men breaking in here!" Lexie screamed at the man inside the cafe.

"What?" He shouted back stepping over the broken shards, he put his head outside the window.

"Help me. Someone broke in. 2 men. Trying to get me!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.

Finally understanding, the man's eyes grew wide, nodding he quickly turned and moved to a part of the cafe Lexie couldn't see.

She was breathing hard. She prayed the man understood her. There was nothing else she could do.

Outside the office, the two men listened as they heard the girl screaming something.

"She's talking to someone, we better go." One suggested.

The second man debated in his head, he really wanted to get her, how dare her knee him 'there', he wanted revenge. But he absolutely did not want to get caught. Finally deciding, he nodded to the man beside him and they hurried to leave. Unlocking the metal doors they locked earlier, they ran out, using the back alleys to escape.

Lexie heard the metal doors open, the doors to the bar. She thinks the two men left but she couldn't be sure. She refused to open the office door in case they were trying to trick her. Instead, she sat on the floor by the window. Nothing left to do but wait.
