Rookie steps.

It's been a long, uneventful three days. We dug down to floor 5, which was the same process as the dig to floor 6, and that's about it. I've made two more potions, and as of now, I'm on my way to plant Blood in the center of the floor - where I met him initially.

"So, why do you want me to plan you there? You're not gonna leave me, are you? I'd be way too bored on my own." And that's true. Being alone in a dungeon for too long could probably drive me insane as well, that is if my mind still works as it should.

"What do you think I'll do here? Watch the fake sky? There's no way I would want to stay here for another few years again. It's way more fun, being around with you. Apart from "that" time..." Ah, "that" time.

When we just made it down to floor five, and I felt like it was the perfect time to get my curiosity satisfied. I wanted to know just how hard you have to hit Blood's head against a surface for him to feel dizzy.

He hasn't felt dizzy before, so he agreed to do the test.

The first attempt wasn't that great. I smashed him against the ground, but we just ended up creating a crater, even larger than usual. He didn't feel a thing, as the ground was too soft, we went with the next most obvious choice - to smash his head against this floor's wall.

It was pretty simple. I put as much explosive force as I could into the swing, and the goat head hit the wall with a stupid amount of force.. Yeah, it was way too much.

I forgot about one pretty important fact, and that's the wall's durability, which was abnormally high. Like, so high that I couldn't even scratch it.

So, take a guess what happens when a living being's head - even if it's a very strong one - smashed against that wall with so much force.

"Yeah, haha. That was hilarious." I traced back to the hit.

"Huh? You freaking splattered my head against the indestructible wall! What in the fuck's name is funny about it?" Blood was still salty about it.

"Everything. Look, you're fine now, right? I healed you with a potion, so you're okay." Looking back at it, if I was a few seconds late to use the potion, he would have died, and that would force me to wait until I had a new [resurrection potion].

"Hold up, I don't think you understand the main problem. It hurt. Like, a lot. Have you ever had to experience your head getting obliterated to pieces? Cause it sucked." The goat head reimagined the experience.

"Funnily enough, I've never felt my head get crushed. Weird, right?" I laughed it off.

We talked for a little while, and I decided to leave Blood to himself for the week while he consumes the human bits lying everywhere.

First things first, I needed to find some better clothes, because the stuff I'm wearing right now is just what I found in a house, but, of course, absolutely everything is covered in blood, which takes quite a bit of effort to wash off.

I looked through a bunch of buildings and found a more-less decent cloak.

"This will do for the time being." Okay, now's a good time to figure out how to "blacksmith". Yep, this building looks just right.

I walked inside and found a used hammer, a few blocks with a rough surface, and some blunt swords. There was also a workbench and an anvil. Where do I start? First things first, I want to find a tool appropriate for a beginner to refine. I'll try creating my own tools later.

I looked through the piles of used weaponry and found a rather good looking knife, though it also had a blunt blade. I would imagine this knife went through quite a lot, so I think revamping it sounds like a great plan.

What now? This place has loads of tools and I have no clue what order to use them in, and which do what.

There were some rough metal and stone blocks, and their surface texture kind of reminded me of sandpaper. Should I start with this then? I've watched a video back on earth, and in it, people wet the sandpaper when dusting something, so that the small particles don't get stuck on the surface and leave scratches.

Hmm, I suppose I need to hold the block in place so that it doesn't slide while I sharpen the knife. This workbench had a vice, and it worked quite well. I tightened the block in place with the vice and poured some water on the block.

The first block I used was the stone one since it had the most brought texture, and I felt like using the metal block would take way too long to take care of the less fine details.

"Oh boy, here I go." I placed the knife onto the stone and, just as I was about to start the sanding process, a notification popped up above the block.

[Would you like to process "knife"?]

Effects:

{+ Sharpness} - thinner blade

{+ Sharpness} - rust removal

{+ Sharpness} - edged blade

{+ Durability} - rust removal

{+ Durability} - points of contact reduced

It seems like the text on the left is the effect, and the text on the right is the reason for the effect. I'm surprised that just a sanding can have that much of an effect, and I bet there are way better methods to do it than just sanding.

There's no way I'm gonna figure those out on my own though; it might be a good idea to visit the dwarf town and find out more about the methods of repairing, and other things related to equipment.

"[yes]." As I said those words, a new notification appeared.

[dexterity multiplier: X759]

So I get one dexterity every 10 levels, it seems.

A timer appeared above the knife, counting down from 10 minutes. As the time ticked, the knife rubbed against the sanding stone on its own, and I just sat down and watched it for a while. Not gonna lie, it was quite a mesmerizing process.

~~~
Ten minutes have gone by very fast since I was so invested in watching the knife perform its own sharpening. Also, each second the knife was sharpening, I lost 1 energy.
Alright, time to see the result. I looked at the knife, which now had a status display above it.
