Our Story

One after another, the girls took turns using the restroom to shower. An hour later, all of them gathered together in Selina's room to have a gossip party. With prepared snacks and sweet beverages, they started sharing stories about various discussions they found interesting.

During one of their conversations, Kyla mentioned how Jessica spoke positive things about Selina all the time. Hearing pieces of past conversations from Kyla's mouth, Selina thought it was unfair how Jessica never spoke to her about Kyla. Since she was their topic in private conversations, she also wanted to learn more about Kyla.

"Eh? It's not fair how much you knew about me, yet I don't know much about you. Kyla, how about telling us some stories about yourself? We already know about your chicken and waffles addiction. We know about your specialty in using poker cards to kill enemies. What haven't we asked each other yet?" Selina rubbed her chin as she leaned back on her giant teddy bear.

Tugging the arms of her teddy bear around her shoulders, Selina pursed her lips slightly as she thought of fun questions to ask. Suddenly, Kyla received a phone call from Isaac. She instantly picked up the call on the first ring and smiled sweetly. "Hello~"

Ignoring everyone's stare, Kyla hugged her legs and giggled in response a few times. After a quick chat with her fiancé, she hung up and sent him a text. When she lifted her face, she saw four pairs of curious gazes with matching smirks concentrated on her.

"W..What is it?" Kyla asked.

Selina released the teddy bear's arms and clapped. "I got it! Kyla, why don't you share how you and Isaac ended up together? That should be fun to hear. You two seem very sweet. Don't tell me it was a simple encounter and bam! You guys got together. So~ " Selina folded her legs and uncapped her juice bottle as she raised her brows at Kyla continuously.

"Pffft, what simple encounter and bam?! It's nothing like that. Do you know how I have to crack this hard-headed egg, boil, steam and fry it? At the end, I devoured it. I'll answer whatever questions you have in mind since Jess and Yi Wei already knew our story. Hehe." Kyla blushed at the thought of sharing her love story to everyone in the room.

"Hmm. Then how did you meet him and Jess?" Selina thought it was only right to start off with a simple question.

"The Wang family hired my family as their bodyguards for generations. I was my parent's only offspring, so I met them at a young age. Of course, kids will still be kids. Though I was taught the rules, I never followed them!" Kyla sighed as she reminisced about the old times.

"Then..when did you start liking Isaac?" Celinda tilted her head sideways, letting her messy bun dangle to the right side of her shoulder.

"When my dad tossed me in the ocean to eat some shrimps and drink ocean waters. He was trying to train me how to swim and told me the fastest way was to teach me through survival of the fittest. He said that was how I will learn in the shortest amount of time. Isaac was the one who jumped in to save me. At the end, he told my dad that being a bodyguard doesn't mean I needed to know how to swim because both him and Jess knew how to swim already. I was spared." Kyla breathed a sigh of relief.

Celinda paused in the middle of taking a potato chip out of the bag when she heard Kyla's response. Her eyes widened in shock to hear about a father being so careless with his daughter. "Wait, how old were you when that happened?"

Jessica answered, "She was five and my brother was eight."

"Aiya, don't look like that after hearing a part of my childhood. I was born with the expectations of being a boy, but I turned out to be a girl. My mother gave birth to me at a rather high age, and it was a miracle for both of us to survive. So, my dad had to put all his hard training on me. I got used to it, but sadly, I don't have physical strength in combat. I could only defend myself using poker cards from a distance." Kyla sounded slightly disappointed in herself as she stared at her right palm.

Seeing her expression, Selina followed up with another question. "Then, did he chase after you? Or the other way around? You two are childhood friends right?"

"Pfft, I chased after him. I didn't know better back then and didn't understand what these fluffy feelings meant. Ever since we were young, it felt more like he was protecting me than the other way around. My father would always scold me for not following the instructions, but it is what it is. I've lost count on the number of confessions I gave to him." She shrugged helplessly.

Jessica shook her head slowly, "Seriously, he didn't realize it until the very end that he liked you all along. I was there almost every single time you confessed to him. You already told him you liked him, and he stood there with a smile. Then, he replied saying he likes you too because you're his sister. I almost wanted to smash his head to the wall and crack it open to see what bird nested his brain!"

"Oh my goodness! You had the same thought I did! Only you knew how much courage, it took me to go from 'I like you' to 'I love you' and this block head still didn't understand my meaning! Sister, my ass! Who wants to be fake siblings with him? Tch, but I got my revenge at the end. Teehee. So, it was all worth it." Kyla snapped her fingers in a half dancing manner as she warmed up to tell her story.

"Ahhh, so how did you two end up together? When did he realize he liked you too?" Celinda felt like a long story was coming up, so she wiped her fingers and hydrated her throat with juice. She didn't want her chewing sounds interrupt a good story.

After consuming a few mouthfuls of water, Kyla began telling her story. "Let's skip all the way to age fourteen...."
