Ch.115

Once the gate was out and upright, I dialed earth and used my radio, telling them it was safe to come through. Jack came running having been told about the radio by his new girlfriend or whatever. Sam, Daniel, Teal'c and SG-2 came through after a MALP was sent. Sam hugged me as soon as she was through and I kissed her before asking to tell her everything when we get home after I've showered.

She agreed and saw the huge pile of refined naquadah. I grunted. "I ran out of crystals."

She nodded slowly and saw the giant hole with a huge pile of unrefined naquadah, dirt and my tools next. She just hugged me again and Jack sighed, telling her that I never once stopped to eat or sleep even when he himself gave up long ago thinking rescue couldn't come. She noticed I was gaunt and pale even in the sunlight with a deep tan. He told her I was too damned stubborn and refused to stop trying to get there for her and the baby.

I just held her as Jack explained the entire area was nearly even until I crawled out of a crater where I was struck by a meteor saving some villagers. He said my suit was half destroyed and I'd clearly had to heal while trapped under ground before I crawled out and they noticed I'd survived two weeks after the meteor storm. I told him it could wait and he stopped talking about it before saying he'd found himself a place in with the locals.

I made it back to the base, got a shower with Sam and passed out just after dressing. I woke up in the infirmary and heard I was seriously sleep deprived despite my ability to heal and go without sustenance that defies all logic, sleep was something I couldn't go without and I was two months overdue for a nap at least. Apparently I'd had several strokes and seizures while I was asleep that my body healed.

We had the briefing the next morning after I was rested and had sufficient nutrients as Janet insisted calling it like I was a plant. I told them my side and Jack said the villagers I saved got away safely but didn't mention me until the crater started collapsing in the center. I continued and told them how I found my pack, reprogrammed the crystals and went section by section until I found the DHD off course of my calculations.

I told them I spread out in a circular grid pattern until I ran out of crystals a few days later and dug by hand with a pickaxe and shovel from there. I sighed and told them their particle accelerator created a hole at the edge of what I'd already dug out by hand and from there I called Jack by radio but got no answer so I dug it out and lifted the gate on my own using brute strength and telekinesis to offset it enough to make the process as smooth as possible.

I told them in a sigh. "The rest is history. You all arrived and here we are."

General Hammond nodded. "That's a hell of a story."

I shrugged and gripped Sam's hand gently when he asked why I didn't take a break. I explained. "Sam told me the good news before this all went down and I decided while I was buried alive that I wasn't going to miss a single moment of her or the baby if I dug my way out. It's what kept me going and it was worth it to get back to her here."

Sam smiled and I kissed her hand while General Hammond smiled. "Then I'll keep this short. The naquadah you mined in the process will be brought back since the people there want nothing to do with it and all the evacuees will be sent back. Take a few days off and meet back here Monday. As for you Major, you're officially confined to desk and supervised lab work when you're here. Seeing as you've violated doctors orders and worked tirelessly as well I'm ordering you to take a few days off as well."

Sam smiled. "Yes, Sir."

General Hammond sighed. "In fact, all of SG-1 could use a few days off."

Jack did his Bart Simpson impression and said he'd had enough time off. General Hammond told him he could do paperwork and evaluations then because as of right now SG-1 was on standby until the rest of the team had time to rest. Oddly Jack was the only one not married of our team and he'd been the one wanting more time at work right now. I guess that actually isn't too odd especially when he asked to supervise the transfer of all the naquadah and the refugees.

General Hammond agreed saying he still wanted the paperwork done by Monday though. He dismissed us so both Sam and I left, giving Teal'c a ride home next door while we went home to jus be with one another. We relaxed by the pool, I gave her a massage and things degraded from there. Dinner light dancing and music while doing physics in her study I'd built for her with walls that were screens and a hard light hologram interactive interface, all of the things we found relaxing up to and including sensual candle light massages and body oil. Needless to say our time off passed pretty quickly.

Soon we were back at work and I was off doing recon and exploration missions with Jack, Teal'c and Daniel. I'd used Sam's suit's nanites to repair my own along with refined naquadah, neutronium and trinium. Her suit looked like my other one, entirely white only without the cloak. It was essentially the best I could make and she'd been more than happy with it.

Still, it bugged her that she couldn't go with us until we ran into the Optrican-Bedrosian war efforts. She got to see Daniel and Jack stuck in electrified cages through the MALP before I stunned everyone and freed Jack and Daniel. I pulled the DHD out of the ground, stole the two Bedrosian hover crafts and all their tech before Teal'c and the Bedrosian named Nyan crashed a hover craft near us. when they came out expecting a fight, Jack talked them down and I healed Teal'c's eyes before taking the broken hover craft. I tied up the Bedrosians to poles in the empty tents and put their leader in the electrified cage.

Daniel dialed the gate and Nyan came with us to earth to be Daniel's assistant. The tech was gone over by the scientists including Sam. Bra'tac showed up weeks later saying the battle doesn't go well on Chulak because Apophis had returned and started killing people looking for something. New Chulak was safe and the people there weren't too happy with Apophis, but doing undercover fighting on the old Chulak to save people was extremely risky.

Still, Daniel mentioned Kheb and Bra'tac was able to help him identify it before we were sent. Sam was even allowed off world since she had her suit and it looked peaceful. General Hammond allowed it seeing as there weren't any meteor showers there and I was with her like a pissed of grizzly bear guarding it's cubs. Bra'tac congratulated Sam and I before we left and soon we found dead Jaffa with a dead nurse maid.

We headed to the temple and I smiled, telling them it was safe. Jack asked why and I chuckled. "There's an ascended here and she's an outcast which means she won't care and will likely kill anyone that threatens the peace of this place."

I took off my boots and walked inside with Sam before Daniel and the others followed. The team by the gate was ordered to wait for us and set up a perimeter around the gate. The caretaker bowed politely to me and I told him that I wasn't ascended like he would soon be or like the one here. He smiled. "The tree is still a tree even if it is paper."

I nodded. "All things return to the great path eventually, but that doesn't mean we need to rush it. Apart of living is enjoying the simple peaceful moments here and there in between."

He bowed lightly again and Daniel asked what that was about while the monk sat back down. I sighed. "He is nearing ascension and has very few burdens to release. I simply suggested he live a little and experience the flesh before he steps onto the great path of ascension. He reminded me that even if I'm not ascended, I am still one of the ascended if in spirit."

I gestured to the inscriptions on the wall. "There it is Daniel, the road to ascension lay bare before you. Give it a go if you're ready to begin it. It can take most people a lifetime to achieve so it's ok to stop and enjoy life in between seeking enlightenment."

Sam asked. "Is this all of it?"

I nodded. "Feel free to scan the room and take off the suit. No harm will come to you here love."

She scanned the room before joining me in sitting. I set out a pillow in front of me and held her while she read her tablet. Daniel spoke with the monk and Jack tried to speed things along but that wasn't going to happen. I watched amusingly as Daniel learned to rely on Oma's power.

Sam asked if I could make fire and I shrugged. "A caveman can make fire."

She rolled her eyes and I chuckled before sighing. "You mean can I make fire with my mind?"

She nodded and I shook my head. "Elemental control was never my strong suit as flesh and blood. Some can do it, some could even see the future with accurate predictions while others can heal, use telekinesis and telepathy or form matter with a thought using particles in the ground or air. The gifts we're talented in varies from person to person. I have three of many types of abilities and considered blessed."

Sam asked hesitantly. "So anyone can learn to ascend?"

I nodded. "Yes, though artificial intelligence like Asurans or robots would no doubt be different. There is a physical component as well which is why the Asgard are currently beyond being capable of ascension without serious help. But barring that, anyone can ascend if they know how and have help. Only fully evolved races like the Nox and my people can do so without aid though."

I gestured to Daniel showing Jack his assumed power. "Even if Daniel does achieve ascension, it won't be without aid."

Jack told us Jaffa were incoming so I tapped Sam who half laid in my arms. "Suit on. I want no accidents."

She sighed saying I didn't have to tell her twice. I went outside with her and Jack while Bra'tac had already gone out having learned he couldn't ascend until he is ready to die. Teal'c said we had Jaffa incoming and I told them. "Set down your weapons and don't fight. The first group to break the peace here dies. The ascended can't protect everyone if you have weapons."

I leaned against the post and the Jaffa came in armed. They demanded we surrender and said we were at their mercy. I raised an eyebrow. "I don't feel at your mercy. Jack, do you feel like you're at his mercy?"

He grunted. "Just a little."

I tilted my head. "Well you always did lack faith."

Daniel came out just after the lead Jaffa shot the monk who told them to leave. He went down and I held up a hand. "Trust me. It was his time to ascend. Give it a moment."

Jack looked to Sam in a suit and stopped reaching for his weapon. The Jaffa fired and their blasts were stopped as thunder rumbled. I smirked. "Witness the power of an ascended."

Lightning struck the leader and like a mage chain lightning it branched out killing all of them, striking down death gliders and killing all the Jaffa, hundreds in all. The monk's body glowed as he became pure energy and I sighed. "You really should've taken more time kid. Life isn't perfect as an ascended and you may find yourself wanting to be flesh to avoid their judgmental ways."

The energy being flew up and disappeared while I shook my head hearing him say it was his path. I walked to the dead Jaffa and took their stuff while Oma appeared and took the baby with her. She stopped seeing me and I grunted. "Do I know you?"

She nodded and I shrugged before she left and we went home. I continued to gather weapons and took the crashed death gliders before giving Bra'tac the shrunken Alkesh bomber on a pallet with all the weapons and stuff inside it when we returned to the SGC. He thanked me and left the SGC to do what he can for his people. Weeks later Daniel, Teal'c, Jack and I were exploring a crystal skull in a giant chasm over a narrow bridge to the center.

Daniel activated it and Teal'c shot the skull before I picked it up and brought it with us because Daniel disappeared. A whole song and dance went on about Daniel and his grandfather Nicolas Ballard. Meanwhile I was going over my suit's readings and confirming my theory. When Nicolas was brought to the SGC claiming to see Daniel, I told him that was all fine and dandy because I knew how to get him back to our plane of existence.

I explained to them. "The crystal skull is just a focal point like a diamond drill bit, essential but not the point of power like your scientists think."

I turned to Daniel's scientist and archeologist friends. "No offense."

They didn't comment while I turned back to the rest. "Anyways, it's a dimensional shifting frequency modulator. Basically a crude way to hop through planes of existence to just out of phase with our normal space-time but without hopping to another reality altogether. A sort of more extreme than what a Reetou is capable of yet less useful because you can't interact with anything physically in our normal space time."

I set the skull on the conference table. "My best guess is that the race that invented it used it to flee the goa'uld and hide where no one can hurt them. That's why it didn't react to Teal'c before, it can sense the goa'uld in him and is programmed not to work for Jaffa and goa'uld. My other theory is that for a device like this to be stable the entire pyramid must be the chamber to contain the tachyons when they're sped up and slowed down to fuse with our bodies and bring us with them into a different vibrational frequency."

I gestured to Nicolas. "That's why you can see Daniel. You still have super charged tachyon particles fused with your body even after returning to our dimension. A sort of halfway point of sort allows you to see others either partially there or fully. I can't be sure with the process having been interrupted by the zat gun."

Nicolas asked. "So we'll be able to save Daniel?"

I nodded. "A device this sophisticated can't be destroyed by a zat gun discharge of this level or the goa'uld would've destroyed it long ago. No, we just need to put the crystal skull back and restart the process. Odds are we'll be able to go in fully with Daniel and reverse it by repeating the process. Still, it would be prudent for you and Teal'c to go just in case we all end up there so you can communicate back for us or Teal'c can let us know if we've gone fully and come back."

General Hammond agreed reluctantly and Sam asked if it was safe for her and the baby. I shook my head. "That's the downside. I can't be sure with how crude it is. The Tollans have a more efficient device that's far safer."

Sam asked. "That's how they do it?"

I nodded. "Well, sort of. If they ever perfect the technology then teleporting between planets wouldn't be out of the question from my estimates or fully traveling through the multiverse like the quantum mirror. Sadly they're quite young just like earth and have yet to fully grasp the uses of the technology let alone perfecting it."

We went ahead and it worked while my suit recorded everything including the Omeyocan aliens that appeared as a giant mist alien. We got back to normal and Nicholas stayed with his aliens as an ambassador. After a full scan of the pyramid and temple, everything was fully recorded to be studied.
