Secret Savior

(Daniel's POV)

"Wake up dummy." I heard a voice calling out.

I opened my eyes to see Karla kneeling in front of me.

"Had a good sleep?" She asked.

"Good. Considering the circumstances." I said in annoyance.

"I'm sorry for what they did. They can be assholes sometimes." She said.

"Why didn't you say anything then?" I asked.

"They are my brother and sister. If they knew they would probably end up killing you."

"You cried a lot?" I asked.

"Obviously. I loved you." She replied.

"I'm so sorry."

"Well, that is history now."

"Yeah."

"Wanna eat something?" She asked.

"Do you really think I would say no?" I asked in response.

"Still the same, aren't you?" She smiled.

"Won't change." I smiled back.

"Lemme bring you something." She said as she got up and went over to where they had a fire started. The other two were asleep.

I thought of our days together. Things were way more simple than they are now. Better times spent with good people.

She came back with a bowl of rice and some chicken to the side.

"I remember you used to like this when I made it for you. I thought maybe you will like it today as well." She said as she sat down next to me.

"So what now?" I asked.

"Since you are tied I'm gonna feed you." She said.

I felt very uncomfortable hearing that.

"Or you could just untie me and I can eat." I suggested.

"And then run off?" She smirked.

"Not necessarily."

"I know you want to get away from us so no I'm not gonna untie you Daniel." She said.

"I need to get somewhere as soon as I can. And I need to get there before my brother. So please do me a huge favor and untie me." I explained.

"Why would I do you a favor? Because you didn't want to spend more time with me? Or because you went after that bitch Susan?" She said angrily.

"It's not like that Karla."

"It IS like that. I just can't let you go now." She said sadly this time.

"What do I have to do for you to let me go?" I asked softly.

"Nothing, you can't do anything."

"Why don't you come with me? We can go somewhere else. I can tell you aren't happy with them." I said referring to Veronica and Marcus.

"I'm not happy with them but they are my family. Regardless of what I feel, I can't leave them like this." She explained.

"Karla, I need to get to Manchester very soon. I'm far away as it is. Please don't make this harder on me." I said.

"What do I get in return?" She asked after thinking for some time.

"Do I look like I have anything?" I asked in response.

"Your revolver?" She looked at Veronica.

"Well, I can't see how you can keep it away from Veronica." I answered.

"Unless I come with you." She turned back to me.

I was taken a back by that. I wondered why she had changed her mind so quickly.

"Sure thing. We can tag along." I said.

"Deal." She said. "But you ain't interested are you?" She said referring to our relationship I assumed.

"Can't promise anything." I replied.

"Eventually I will charm you like I once did." She said as we both giggled.

She went over to where Veronica was sleeping. Karla knelt down slowly grabbed the revolver which was strapped to Veronica's belt. Then she proceeded to get the knife which was lying next to Marcus. Before coming to untie me she wrote a letter on a paper, to let her siblings know what she did I assumed.

"Ready to wreak havoc?" She asked as she cut the ropes that had been tied by Marcus.

"Ready." I said as I finally stood up after many hours of being tied. I also grabbed the bowl of rice.

(Dr. Kross' POV)

I was sick of working on the prototype that was asked of me to develop for Officer Henderson and Tom. It was very tiring but I was the only one who could do it and they were providing all the materials I needed for my projects.

I flopped on my chair as I sighed from how tiresome this development process has been so far.

The door burst open as Henderson and Tom rushed into the room.

"You helped him escape?" Asked Tom.

"Not escape necessarily. I helped him continue what he needs to do."

"Does he remember?" Asked Henderson.

"He may not remember yet. He will eventually." I replied.

"What do we do about Hunter?" Asked Tom.

"You know, I asked him to go with Daniel. He is the perfect partner to Daniel because he is experienced in these environments, and Daniel isn't." I explained.

"How could you do this to us?" Henderson asked angrily.

"Do what?" I questioned.

"You made us lose one of our best men. And then send him with our enemy." Henderson snapped.

"First of all, Daniel isn't your enemy. He is your friend more than anything. Second of all Hunter is still your man because he is working for me and I am working for you. So technically I did you a massive favor more than anything." I said as calmly as I could.

The pair were stunned and started stammering. I scoffed and leaned back.

"If you put it that way then yes you did do us a favor." Tom slowly said.

"Then why are you two angry?" I said calmly.

"Still, you did stuff behind our backs. How can we trust you again?" Asked Henderson.

"Have I let you down?" I asked in response.

"Not yet." Tom said slowly.

"Then you don't need to worry about me letting you down." I said as I got up and went back to the prototype workbench.

They whispered between them for a bit then they left without saying a thing.

I locked the door after they left the room, then quickly went back to my computer and turned it on.

I logged into the reports tab and started a new one.

"He is well on his way. The situation has calmed down in the bunker but I don't think I can trust them anymore. Send help as soon as convenient. Kross."

I sent it to its only destination and then shut the computer down. Then I proceeded to unlock the door and go back to the prototype workbench. I took another good look at the schematics. I needed one more part to complete the prototype weapon.

'The plasma rifle. Deadly weapon.' I thought to myself.

The weapon was designed to make holes in whatever it was shot at. The ammo for it was from nuclear waste found across many countries.

'The Syndicate is really bigger than anyone imagines it to be.' I thought about how many countries The Syndicate are spread across.

The last part needed was a barrel to extend the range on the plasma rifle. Part of me told me not to make it because it would make The Syndicate invincible.

'But what if they end up on the good side. They need what they can get to help us.'

I sat down thinking about my next move. What I can do to escape if things go down hill in the bunker. My best bet was to escape the way Daniel did.

'I just wish they don't figure out what I have in mind.'
