Gary glared at his father. He was being ridiculous. All he wanted was a fair chance to go to school. He wasn't a gullible child anymore, he wasn't going to stand for his father's nonsense.
"Just let me pick a school, you won't even need to see me anymore since you hate me so much!" He yelled at his father.
"I don't hate you Gary!" Jacob scoffed, throwing his hands up in the air. "I love you." He continued softly.
"If you loved me, you'd let me go." Gary responded in a quieter voice. His father glared at him and then sighed. There was a long silence that was getting more and more awkward.
"I'm just trying to protect you Gary. I'm not the evil force in this world... I know that if I don't let you go you'll just run away anyway, so I might as well support you... Choose a school and if you hate it, there'll always be a place here for you." He sighed, giving in to Gary's request. Gary's eyes widened and he smiled.
"Thanks dad!" He thanked and hugged his father. Maybe this was going to be a fresh start...
