Chapter VI

I thought the peace would last longer...

I was just about to start building a Pack that would turn Beacon Hills into a supernatural town. A place Hunters would think twice about before mounting any more attacks. But war might be a good thing...

It all started after I met Satomi Ito. I felt threatened by the size of her pack. I also felt sad that so many of the supernatural had to hide from the world of man.

So, I bit Lydia. A banshee was needed to maintain security. No, I did not ask permission. She kind of hates me at the moment. She's still sad that I killed Jackson. Well, everyone's still on the fence about me. It's pretty childish if you ask me.

After a week of waiting for any changes, she was still the same old Lydia. I was forced to move on at that point. Things also got interesting when Melissa agreed to join my pack. Scott lost his shit, Melissa wanted him to join, he threw a bitch fit, and it was a whole ordeal.

Next, I found a Deputy. Jack Arlo, he sucked at his job. Even when Mareth put in vacation time to cover his abduction, the sheriff didn't even question it.

I wanted to find out what changes my bite brought about, and I also needed a man in the sheriff's department. Jack Arlo is just the first.

Sadly but thankfully, the guy was a success. But what happens when you give a loser power? They get big heads and turn into tyrants. So, of course, I'm going to let the women beat on him, and I need someone to clean the manor when it's finished, anyway.

So, obviously, I'm building my pack, and it's picking up steam until a body drops for the first time in a month. And all signs point to a Kanima. Yes, the fucking creature I just killed.

I'm now on my way to Derek's....hideout place thingy. I told him just to get a house or rebuild his old one, but the guy is stubborn.

When I arrive, I find him and his pack sitting around. The atmosphere was pretty odd. Derek's pack was doing well, but the pack would have fallen apart if it wasn't for Jennifer. Jennifer is a rarity, a wolf made to be an Alpha's mate according to traditional wolf pack hierarchy.

However, her first Alpha wanted to kill her, and her new Alpha isn't learning fast enough, so even she has somethings to learn.

Add that Derek's pack seems composed of Betas with the power output of Omegas. It was hanging on by a thread. Issac is soft, Derek's brutishness is good, but that's all Derek is, at times, brutish.

Erica was seduced into the bite, that isn't enough for her to weather the storm of murder, hunters, and a creature made for assassination. Not to mention that she watched me kill Jackson. The girl is ready to bolt. But for now, she is just dripping with anxiety.

That brings me to Boyd. The guy is a hammer, completely solid. But he and Erica have become attached at the hips, and she's affecting him. Boyd is the closest thing that I've seen to a true beta. His protective instincts, loyalty, and lack of ambition make him the perfect beta to manage the pack. Only if he could let go of Erica long enough to grow.

So, as I stand in the middle of this unraveling pack, Derek tells me that Satomi Ito's beta was found dead with a slit on the back of her neck and a bullet in her head.

"That doesn't mean that a Kanima killed the beta," I tell him. "Besides, it's Satomi's pack. Let her handle it."

Derek was ready to go to war. Still as hot-tempered as ever.

"Look," I tell him. " If another Kanima comes after us, we kill it just like the last time."

"Last time you killed it before we even discovered its identity. It can be killing people right now." Said Erica.

"So what, as long as it isn't killing us. Satomi has dozens of wolves. If they're being hunted, it buys us time without actually weakening us." I explain.

"So, what's the plan?" Jennifer asked.

"Honestly, I don't know. I have a new wolf and plan to get another before the full moon. That's my focus. Gerard has been in the wind for a month, now a new Kanima has arrived. We're sitting ducks unless we prepare. The best advice I have is to prepare and stay vigilant. Hopefully, this new guy leaves..." I suddenly stopped mid-sentence as I have an epiphany.

"Erica, How about you go talk to Stiles and figure out what he knows about the murders that Jackson committed. All of those murders were done for his master. It wasn't personal."

Derek squints at me. "What are you thinking?"

"I think that Jackson killed a pregnant lady, Issac's dad, and people who have no connection to any murders. "

"The master broke the rules..." Jennifer muttered. "If the bestiary is true, then the old master can be the new Kanima."

"It's a good starting point," I tell her.

"Mind if I barrow Boyd?" I ask Derek.

Derek looked at the surprised Boyd and then back at me. Derek then shrugged and gestured for Boyd to follow me.

------------------------------------------------------

"So, how is he?" I ask Mareth about the new Omega as I walked on to the balcony overlooking Beacon Hills preserve.

"Good, His first turn might be difficult, though. He's real pent up," she replied.

" I want to turn the guidance counselor next," I tell her. "She knows all the secrets of every student. With her on my side, I can pick all the best apples."

"No. She can't be touched." Mareth replied.

I frowned. "Why not?"

"She's a druid. I remember her from Paranor. She was one of the best talents of this century." Mareth explained.

"And what of her pack?"

"She says she is here on the family business. It's just her."

"She's your responsibility, Mareth. I guess I can turn the ADA."

"Beacon Hills's Assistant District Attorney?" Mareth asked.

I smirk and give her a slight nod. I plan to have a pack member in every official office in Beacon Hills. It's the only way to control the town.

"You know, the end of the semester is approaching." Said Mareth.

I sigh at the thought. My mother made it seem like the end of the world to open Inari's Scroll.

"I think you should wait longer."

Mareth's words shocked me. I look over and smell the anxiety, the worry in her eyes.

"Derek hasn't been completely honest with us. Have you ever heard of the Alpha Pack?"

My body involuntarily tensed. The Alpha pack is a pack of Alphas. Wherever they go, packs crumble.

"They're on their way here."

"What!?" I bark. "What business do they have here?"

Mareth took a breath before she replied. She told me that the new guidance counselor is their pack advisor. The problems just kept rolling in. But the problems won't stop me.

I told Mareth that I would create my fourth tail early. But she would have to catch the new Kanima. A decision that was made based on what I knew of the savage pack of Alphas. They love power, and there are three Alphas in Beacon Hills.

But If the Alpha Pack isn't careful, they could lose numbers, inadvertently adding Alphas to our ranks. It wasn't an easy decision, It meant leaving my Pack for a few weeks. Sacrifice today to save tomorrow.

I then told Mareth about Boyd. I wanted her to help him with control and teach him about the abilities that came with being a werewolf.

"Why Boyd?" Mareth asked.

"Spend some time with him and you'll figure it out."

3rd POV

Outside of Beacon Hills, Cora Hale had finally managed to make it across the states and back home.

Unfortunately, a lot was happening in the woods at night. The hunters were making rounds for the first time in a month. With them was a device that mimicked the howling of a pack that attracted Omegas and Lone wolves alike.

However, Omegas and lone wolves weren't the only wolves in the woods. The Alpha pack had been out on a hunt when they heard Cora return a howl to the Hunters. And if it was one thing that the Alpha pack hated, it was hunters.

So the Alpha pack moved with great speed and intercepted Cora Hale from running to her death. But her thanks didn't last long after she told the pack her name...
