Chapter X: Uncle-Father

While Tenko was taking Melissa home to rest, Mareth and Nikita were having another private conversation about matters of the future.

"Are you sure it was the same dream?"

"Yes. Nikita. We have to tell him. Now that everyone knows the scroll is in North America, we can encounter problems worse than the Alpha pack."

"He is not ready. Besides, he knows danger is coming. He doesn't need to the degree of the danger."

"You remember what happened the last time you thought he wasn't ready for something?"

"This is different. After this game with the Alphas, I'll tell him. Now just isn't the time."

"How would you know? Danger could already be here."

"A mother knows. Now tell me about this blur that you keep seeing."

"It's bright yellow and has an energy output that I have only seen on a few people."

"Namely."

"You, Tenko, Deucalion. A few Elder Druids during my time in Paranor."

"And this person is coming here?"

"Yes. And this person isn't the only one. This is why we must prepare, Nikita. That means our Alpha must know everything."

"We are preparing. In all of this chaos, people are dying. So how about you use this chaos to your Alpha's benefit."

The ladies' phones began to chime. They each read the text, and Nikita wore an amused smile.

"What did I tell you? He is preparing. Help him turn this town into our fortress."

Mareth sighs. "Fine, but you read the text. Tenko wants us laying low. And you back to school. I need to go talk to a lawyer."

---------------------

"District Attorney Reese Gary," Mareth spoke with complete professionalism as she extended her hand.

"Ahh, Dr. Ravenlock." He replied with joy.

"How is your son, Reese?" she asked.

"Fantastic thanks to you. What you have done in two months, Doctors couldn't have accomplished in years."

"Well, it's still the first phase of the trail. Let's just be patient and keep praying. Speaking of prayer, I wanted to pray for the girl who found that poor boy's body. You know the victim of that satanic ritual."

"Ahh, the Martin girl."

"Yes her. I was wondering if we could go see her later on."

The Reese looked around and gave Mareth a firm nod.

"Fantastic. I'll be sure to visit Ben this week. He may be healthy, but I don't see why he can't be healthier."

"Thank you, Doctor. I also referred to a friend of mine. His daughter is having some issue that he would like handled discreetly."

Mareth sighed. "As long as he is willing to pay to play. Oh, and you won't be needed for my visit to the Martins. Send the ADA."

----------------------------------------------------

With some free time, Tenko decided to handle something that could be the downfall of his pack and all of his future plans.

From point A, the den, to Point B, the Manor, Tenko moved weapons and ammunition, money, and drugs.

He originally wanted to burn the drugs. They were too risky to have. But when he thought about it, it brought the same risk as transporting them.

So he made the best of a bad situation. He contacted a buyer, sold everything wholesale. He also found a buyer for the Furs he was supposed to sell to the Russians, along with the animal parts for berserkers. Finally, half of the gun supply was also put.

It was a major sale. But it had to be done.

Tenko spent the rest of the day doing inventory and setting up ways to transport his product to ports.

After the moon rose and many of the humans fell asleep. Tenko heard the distinct howl of his mate. He put his work aside and answered her call.

----------

Malia and Tenko were sitting on the roof of her father's house and quietly looking at the stars.

"Malia, what's up? You're quiet but never like this."

Malia sat up and hugged her knees. "I was ready to see my dad, but I wasn't ready for the things that came with it."

"What do you mean?"

"I told him about me...But how do I tell him that I'm the reason my sister and mom is dead. That someone ran us off the road and tried to kill us."

"You don't. Obviously, you're not ready. But you are with your father now. Spend time with him. And maybe next week the words you find difficult now won't be that hard later."

"Ahhh, I hope so. Have you found anything out about the truck that night?"

"No. But you have everything we need right here."

"What do you mean?"

"Whatever records that you have, your father has them. Whoever tried to kill you knew who you were. Maybe it's why you were put up for adoption."

Malia's brow wrinkled as she thought about it. She made a note to look through the old boxes in the attic. "So what about the Alpha pack? Anyone die yet?"

"Just Ennis. I made a deal with Deucalion to give Ennis's Alpha spark to Melissa."

"Quick thinking. What was the deal."

"We stay out of it. Which isn't a problem. But Derek is missing and is badly injured."

"You're worried about him."

"Yes."

------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning, Malia was wakened up by a phone call. She reached into Tenko's pocket and pulled out his phone. Malia tapped Tenko but laid still as a rock.

Malia frowned the shock him some more. "Tenko!" she growled.

Malia answered the phone told Boyd to wait a moment. Malia then pounced on him as she bared her fangs. Tenko immediately took her by the throat and turned over to her backside.

Tenko smirked, and the lovers' supernatural eyes combined and illuminated the bed. " I didn't want to answer it," he said.

"You are so childish." she giggled.

"We haven't wrestled in a while," he replied.

"My dad may not be supernatural. But these walls are thin, and you have no self-control."

Tenko chuckled. " Haaa, please. Wasn't it you who said, I. Just. Can't.--"

Malia smacked Tenko's shoulder to stop him from talking. " Boyd is still on the phone. But you knew that."

Malia rolled her eyes and pushed Tenko away.

--------------------------

After his phone call with Boyd, Tenko left to go speak with Mareth.

During Boyd's cross country trip, the Darach - a dark druid, almost ritual sacrificed all the wolves on the trip by twisting their minds towards sacrifice.

Mareth and Tenko were now sitting across from each other with empty plates and full cups of coffee.

"I thought you forgot about me." She spoke sarcastically.

"You can take care of yourself," said Tenko.

Mareth sneered. "That's not the point, Dick. I was there when the Alphas showed up. I watched them stick a pole through Derek's back like they wanted to spitroast him."

"What do you want me to say, Mareth?" Tenko leaned back in his chair.

"I want you to care. You don't have to say anything. But you do have to show me that you're still on my side. Are you still my Alpha?"

Tenko shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Mareth suddenly pulled back.

"I know we're going to get them all. But I'm not Lacy or Aria. I'm not dead, T. So just working on the problem won't cut it for me. I need to know you're with me. That you're just as worried about not seeing me again as I am about you."

"I'm sorry, Mare." Tenko got up and went for the door. "I need you to work on the Darach problem. Talk to the Druids, and then we can make a plan."

"Of course," Mareth replied, disheartened.

"Mare..."

"What?"

The Atmosphere was suffocating at this point. How could Mareth possibly understand what Tenko was feeling and the dilemma that churned inside of him because of those feelings?

"I never told how sorry I am about Lacy."

Mareth sighed to herself as he left. No matter how close she got to him. Tenko always had a wall up blocking that final step.

-------------------------

Tenko continued with his work for the better part of the day. When his products were on the move. Tenko relaxes to take a breather. Besides the human sacrifices and homicidal alpha pack. He didn't even feel like he was in Beacon Hills.

'What do I do know. Ahh, I can make mead.' he thought. After a lot of preparation, Tenko turned his kitchen into a brewery.

As he was storing his creation to ferment, the doorbell rang. Tenko touched a screen built into the wall, and a video of Allison and Lydia appeared.

Tenko pressed a button, and the locks retracted, allowing the front door to open. The girls were cautious but walked in. when they finally made it to the main room, Tenko had two glasses of wine waiting on them as he cleaned his kitchen.

"You really are back?" said Allison.

"So are you. I thought you moved away."

"A short vacation." Allison replied while looking around the Manor's main room, "The place looks amazing... am I still welcomed?"

"Why not. You only tried to eradicate Derek's pack and help a mad man become a werewolf to cure his cancer."

"And you killed her aunt and Jackson." Lydia quipped.

"Jackson was only important to you, Lydia. You should be thanking me. You could have been his next target."

"When did you become such an ass." Lydia sneered.

Tenko wore a taunting smile that only served to further infuriate Lydia.

"Hey! Enough. Scott said he heard you talking to Boyd. You know what's happening, don't you?" asked Allison

"Maybe."

"What are you going to do about it?" she asked.

"Nothing. It's not my problem. But if Lydia could do me a favor, I would be willing to lend a hand."

"What do you want?" Lydia asked. She knew that help was needed to take on the Alphas. One Derek wasn't enough to save them all.

"I hear you find dead bodies." Tenko walked around the counter as he dried his hands, "All you have to do is lend me your psychic abilities."

"I'm not a psychic," she protested.

"Of course, you aren't." Tenko laughed. He knew exactly what she was.

Trio ended their banter there as Allison started told Tenko her approach to the Alpha Pack conflict.

Just as he expected, she thought like a hunter. It wasn't bad but, Tenko knew that Deucalion had fought hunters his entire life as a wolf. Like, Ennis, Kali, and the Late Talia Hale, Deucalion was born a wolf and had been running and fighting hunters since before Tenko's birth.

Someone as green as Allison would never catch Deucalion.

-------------------------------------------

Sometime later, Tenko tracks peter down to his loft and found him with his daughter, Cora.

Between the two men, there was enough tension to snap steel. But Tenko only found things amusing.

"Peter. I helped Derek kill you. You resurrected yourself. That's between us. Right now, I want to talk about something else."

"Something else?" Peter asked, confused about what else the fox had to discuss with him.

"Yes, like Talia Hale."

Peter growled at the mention of his sister's name.

"Why do you want to talk about my mother?" Cora asked with interest. She picked up on Tenko's taunting tone and Peter's reaction.

"You're mother was a great Alpha. And no one knew her better than your father." Tenko smirked.

Peter became furious, and Cora looked confused as she worked out the situation.

"Peter, you know who my father is!?" The emotions Cora display were easily read.

"Of course he does. Tell her, Uncle Peter."

Peter took a deep breath. "You're trying to bait me."

"Bait you? for what?" Tenko asked nonchalantly. Tenko then began to act aloof as he walked around Peter's loft.

Cora stepped in front of Peter and pressed for answers that he did his utmost to avoid.

"You want to kill me because of what I did to your little girlfriend," Peter spoke around Cora as if she wasn't there. He then sidestepped and went after Tenko.

"Ahh, but I would never kill a father in front of his daughter. I don't know why you just don't tell her. I mean, you killed all of those people to avenge her. Even her sister has torn apart for the sake of vengeance." Tenko advised Peter with an unnatural caring attitude.

"What?" Cora asked while becoming distraught.

During her childhood, The Hales were the only children without fathers. Talia liked it this way. But the arrangement affected Cora the most. While Derek and her sister Laura had enough time to experience and grow out of the need for a father figure.

"Hmm, Peter, you should worry about being a father. Alpha never suited you."

Cora was backing away as she tried to process things. For an instant, Peter dropped his guard in an attempt to get Cora to listen to him.

Tenko's eyes turned to blazing red fox eyes, and his claws were called forth as he pounced on Peter. " This is the second time you let your guard down."

Tenko then roared with enough force to shake the windows before he sunk his claws into the back of Peter's neck. Peter fought, but he was just too weak.

Images of Peter's childhood flowed into Tenko's mind. His time with Talia and the birth of Cora. Then blank spots. A lot of blank spots as if memories were stolen.

But Tenko kept searching and focused on any memory that had to do with Talia. Then he found it. Tenko withdrew his claws and left Peter panting on the floor as blood-drenched the back of his neck.

"Cora! Hey!" Tenko wrestled her attention. " Your mother and your sister could do a full shift. They literally turned into wolves. It's pretty rare. If you ever want to get close to them, I can teach you how. I'm sure you have the gift."

"You are a monster." Cora sniffled, and her lips quivered. She was conflicted about how she felt about her uncle...father, Peter. But Tenko was a stranger in a time when most Alpha's wanted to rip apart her family. No matter Peter's faults, he was family.

"Your blue eyes say we aren't that different. I don't kill the innocent. Your father does that. But I do kill and brutally maim. I stay at the Manor on the hill. Just ask your brother about me... Whenever he returns."
