Days after his continuous search MinJun found a suitable job for himself. The environment was friendly and the pay was fair. What more he could wish for? It was like an apple pie fallen from the sky.
"New boy. Come take these bottles to section G and be sure to fill the empty racks. Take these canned products to the refrigerating section. Tsk. Whose lazy ass misplaced the entire section E? Do I need to cut your new year bonus!"
The manager at his work loaded him with random tasks and walked away stomping his feet swearing to find the unlucky staff who had wrongly done his assigned task.
Through a week of search he finally managed to get himself a full hour job in a nearby supermarket and today was his first day in the work. He wasn't much familiar to his co-workers thus he decided to move the beverages cartons by himself.
Not more than two minutes have passed, a girl hurried to his side.
"Um..Hello Senior."
She greeted and looked around the boxes piled up on the floor then she glanced at MinJun who was bending down to lift a box of alcoholic beverages.
"Senior..May I help!."
She politely offered then without waiting for MinJun to respond, the girl stroded off pushing the trayroller full of freshly arrived fruits.
"You do not need to. And aren't you suppose to rearranged the section E ?"
He asked looking at the retreating back already at a distance from him.
"Huh? Senior, did you say something?"
The girl turned around and it seemed she hadn't heard his words from before. MinJun shook his head in a denial gesture and walked up to her carrying two boxes at once.
"Oh...Senior can I get your social account. Mine is 'PINK BUTTERFLY ABOVE THE SEA'. C'mon.. let us add each other."
The girl stated stopping in front of the fruit section.
MinJun was at loss. What kind of name was that?
He subconsciously thought but at the time, the most important thing wasn't the social name rather it was the girl herself. Never in his life he had ever met such a strange over-friendly person. It hasn't been a minute they had talked to each other. And wasn't the conversation escalating at the speed of light.Where was the introduction part?
As if reading his mind, the girl gently hit her forehead and faced towards MinJun-
" Aish~ How can I forget? Senior, I am called Celia Jason and unlike my name I am absolutely native and not a foreigner. I was borned and raised inside the country."
Celia emptied the fruit tray arranging them onto the shelves in an orderly manner.
"By the way Senior. I heard green apples are good for skin care."
The sixth box was placed down.MinJun straighten his back and looked towards the girl who was greedily gawking at the green apples. Within few minutes he had experienced three kind of different emotions. He was surprised, amused and at the same time felt helpless looking at the girl who was much younger than him. Morever he was dumbfounded thinking how did the introduction part turned out as which fruit is good for skin-care. However he was more focused on another topic-
" Excuse me, why would you call me senior?"
In their city seniority in work was based on their working time and experience not by the age or any other factors.
"Precisely..your working period is two years more than mine."
Celia reluctantly shifted her drooling gaze from green apples as she replied-
" Senior..No need to use polite words with me. Although I had been working here longer than you but in regards of our study experience you obviously are my senior. I graduated from Neon as well, but it was five years later."
MinJun hadn't got enough time to grasp the information that was poured when Celia went off-topic yet again-
" Senior. Do you still remember the art piece you painted during the local art seminar?"
Celia asked while MinJun nodded in acknowledgement. Indeed he still remember the art piece he had drawn back then.
In the canvas, a young boy's shiloutte was painted kneeling on the ground as his body was drenched by the heavy downpour that created a kind of fuzzy white mist surrounding him. However the boy remained oblivious to all of it, soaking in the rain while he gaze straight through onlookers with his empty eyes that seemed hollow and emotion deprived. Overall the boy was portrayed heart-broken which made him an unfeeling ghost.
Though it was something that happened no less than eight years ago, he still has vivid recollections about this particular painting. The boy he had drawn was none other than himself. It wasn't the boy's emotions rather it was his, all of it. He had poured his pain, grief, tears, hatred and love into the portrait that he created which later won the first place and was hung on the walls of Neon high school.
"Senior... Senior...
Celia called out for MinJun who was lost in his past memories.
"Ah..I am sorry..what were you saying?"
MinJun was embrassed. He happened to remember his old days and forgot to listen what Celia was talking about.
"Are you okay?"
She asked concerned. After she made sure that nothing was wrong with MinJun, she continued-
" I was saying that I really admire that art piece of yours. Just one look and you can feel the depressing love that the boy has felt..."
"Hey you two idlers..What are you wasting time for? Do you want me to cut your pay."
Her words were cut off by the yelling manager and she quickly bid farewell to MinJun.
"Senior let's talk after the work. Don't forget alright. Dinner is on me."
The girl's figure disappeared behind the tall shelves. MinJun kept standing on the same place as the words Celia said rung on his mind continuously-
" A depressing love huh..?" He shifted his gaze towards the floor looking dazed and lost as he murmured in a low breath-
"En.The boy felt it a lot...
