Retest

"Chen Bai." I called him on the phone, "I'm skipping school for a day, don't let Zhao Lili find out." I hang up before he starts to complain.

I took the test I found yesterday and found the address of the hospital on the page. It exactly didn't say my name, Zhao Yeyu's name, or Xie Lijiu's name on the paper. The previous Xie Feihao used fake names, I knew because of the post-it note he put on top.

I went into a store to change out of my school uniform, put on a wig, switch out my glasses with a cheaper one, and drawn a beauty mark under the left eye. I changed my looks because my face is now well-known, thanks to the news blowing about the mall incident and Alex Yang posting pictures of 'Na Yi' on social media.

I rent a locker to put my school bag and my old phone in there because a 'certain' someone - not going to mention the old lady's name - keeps tracking my number, I took a new phone with a different number and another bag with the hospital files with other things inside.

Yesterday, I told Yang Li to make a fake ID for me. Since he did have a business in our old world where he made passports and driver's licenses, just before I beat him up after finding out and told him to stop.

Even though the paper says this body doesn't have any blood relationship with his parents, I don't believe it until I test it myself.

"Hello, how can I help you?" The receptionist asked when I walked in.

"Hi, my friend wants to test if he's actually related to his father, he's having a bit of a family issue so I came for him."

She waves towards another room filled with cacophonies, "Thank you, please wait in the room to my left until we call your name, Mister-"

"Just William is fine." I replied.

"Alright Mister William, we'll call your name in roughly an hour." She nods.

I took a seat and look around, there's a lot of people sitting here, it seems like I picked a bad day.

I sent a few messages to Yang Li on the new phone before a kid tapped my shoulder, "Hey, older brother!" She called me as I take my eyes off the screen.

"Are you sick?" She asked as her eyes shine with curiosity.

"Ah, I'm sorry!" A figure that's slightly taller than me pulled the girl away, "I told you not to cause trouble!" He was wearing a mask and a baseball cap.

"But brother, you aren't sick, why are you wearing a mask? People only wear masks in hospitals when they're sick."

I chuckle, "So she's at the age where she always asks 'why' huh?"

"Yeah, but she always ends up hurting herself." He laughs nervously.

"Let her learn from experience."

He thought for a second, then took out his hand, "I'm Leng Mo." He introduced himself.

I shook his hand, "William, you can call me Will." I don't normally interact with people who look suspicious, but he's different from a normal case.

The masked man took a seat across from me with the girl on her lap, "So you're American? No wonder you aren't surprised when you heard my name." He gave the girl his phone to keep her distracted.

"The young actor right?" I ask to confirm, I knew from Li Honglie, the girl who didn't have enough friends, so she ran to me all the time.

"Only cost you a year to become famous, I'm quite surprised you've kept your popularity in the past two years."

"So you're a fan?"

"No, a friend is."

"That's shocking, you look quite young." Leng Mo's fans are often in teens and mid-20s, there are more female fans in the mid-20s, probably due to jealousy from guys.

"Everyone says that, but I'm actually in my early-20s." I lied.

I can tell, he's a bit suspicious of my identity.

"So, what brings you to China?" He asked.

"I moved here with my adoptive parents years ago." If I moved here years ago, it won't be strange if I knew a lot about the media or a lot of people here.

"Oh." He changed his tone to a brighter one.

"Mister William?" I heard a female voice called my fake name from the speaker.

"I guess that's my call." I pack things up and get up to leave.

"It was a nice conversation, mind if you give me your number?" He asks.

This is the part I wish doesn't happen. If he does get my number, he'll keep contacting "William" and I have to keep this fake identity up, but if I reject him, it'll seem suspicious.

"Sure."

It didn't take long until they got the results back, the only thing that took long was the long line.

To test, I had to give them two different bags, one of them contain my hair, and the other contains Xie Lijiu's hair I got from Chen Bai. Unsurprisingly, the result was negative.

On this body's birth certificate, it says I'm Xie Lijiu and Zhao Yeyu's child, so did they grab the wrong kid? If so, who is this body's real parents, and who's Xie Lijiu and Zhao Yeyu's child?

"Why weren't you at school?" Li Honglie rushed into my room while I was laying on the bed, scrolling through the web on my laptop.

"Sh! Don't let Zhao Lili know!" I whispered loudly to let her know.

"But why weren't you at school?" Yang Li closed the door after both he and Li Honglie are inside.

"You're here too, nice. I don't have to call you."

"Damn, I was expecting a 'who gave you permission to get in here' or something similar." Yang Li sat on a beanbag after Li Honglie stole the only chair in this room.

The two of them sat silently while I look for the address of the hospital this body born in.

"So why aren't you at school?" Li Honglie interrupted the silence, she sounded bored.

"Nothing big," I lied without changing my tone, "Just found out I'm not this family's child."
