Wealthy Businessman

Eon looked up at the ceiling.

"Why didn't the Mage imprison the darkness spirit in the first place?" My eyes were wide.

"He probably thought it would throw off the balance of light and darkness." Eon shrugged his shoulders.

"But, does the balance not still remain?" I was clueless when it came to this information.

"It does. Maybe imprisoning both spirits has kept it that way. Maybe both of them still have a tiny hold on this world."

Eon sat up.

"Come with me. We will discuss this later. Now, I want to show you something. You should know as much as possible about your new home. Right, Lumine?"

"Right, Sir."

"Don't call me that."

"That is what everyone else calls you."

"You are not like everyone else."

"Okay, what should I call you?"

"Well, I call you Lumine. You can call me Eon."

I nodded my head.

"You can leave the hammer. We will be doing a lot of walking. No one is going to steal it."

Eon motioned towards the door and I followed.

We walked down the large hall and out the front doors.

"As you can all ready tell, Lumine, I am extremely wealthy. I make thousands every month. If you want to know why, I can tell you."

"Please do."

"I own a winery and a large mine. Both started off as something smaller. When I was twelve, I discovered an area right over there that contained valuable jewels and ores."

I looked over at the mine. There was a giant opening. Mine carts were scattered around it.

"My father and I used to live here together, and he was amazed the mining spot had remained a secret until then. The mansion has been here for decades, but I have spent a lot of money on fixing it up and making it much more modern.

"Anyways, my father owned the winery over there. It was much smaller seven years ago."

Large rows of grapes stretched far out into the distance. A building containing the wine cellar sat near the house.

"The mine was a huge success. The two of us pulled in nearly a million gold coins in the first year alone. With that money, and much more that was to come in the future, we expanded the winery into what it is today."

"What about your father? Where is he now?" l had a feeling something bad had happened after the expansion.

Eon slammed his fist into a wall, causing me to jump back.

"Someone killed him. Not a business rival, just someone who was jealous of people like us. Up high."

"I'm sorry, Eon. I shouldn't have asked."

"No, no. It's not your fault. Follow me."

We made our way to the mine. The carts were full of dirty rocks. Workers waved and smile at us. I did the same.

"Jackson, what gems have you found today?" Eon called out to a young man with brown hair.

"Ah! Well, Sir, we have found twenty-one so far. A few diamonds, mostly rubies, a couple of amethysts, and a topaz." Jackson looked quite proud as he brought us a box of colorful gems.

"You see, Lumine? We find many every day. Top quality." Eon handed a few gems to me. I had never held a real diamond before, but the amethysts stuck out to me. One glistened in the sun. It was large and matched my eyes.

"Do you like that one?" Eon looked curious.

"It's very nice," I replied.

"Jackson, bring this to Lizzie and have here polish it up. I would like here to make it into a necklace. Use silver." Jasckson nodded to Eon.

"Yes, sir."

What was Eon doing? Was he serious? Was the necklace for me? No. It couldn't be. I was nothing more to him than a piece of merchandise. But that amethyst, it sparked a question.

"Eon, the child in the story...what color was its eyes?"

"The eyes..." Eon closed his own.

"They were purple."

Eon was so successful l, it was scary. I had to admit though, I was awestruck when he told me how he had started from the bottom and rose to the top.
