InterHigh Preliminaries Here I Come

Kuroko and the HBI stepped on to the InterHigh court for the first time. They had agreed to go all out from the start so that they don't have to go through any trouble that they could have avoided. Their first opponent was Nakamiya South High. They were a strong team, but not as strong as Kaijo. They easily won their first match by a margin of 47 points. In the preliminaries, HBI was lucky because they didn't have to face anyone too strong, such as the generation of miracles but that was also a bad thing. They weren't able to eliminate some of the bigger threats. Kuroko was excited. He knew that Seirin would get into the InterHigh and was happy to be the one completely obliterating them.

HBI was on the quarterfinals of the InterHigh preliminaries and were matched up against Seiho Academy, a powerhouse school known for getting in the InterHigh semifinals recently. The match started and Kiyoshi and Kuroko tried to do their famous combo of passing the ball and shooting it but it didn't work. Tomoki Tsugawa (One of Seiho's players) explained that Seiho had been fortifying their defence just so that they could beat Kuroko or anyone like him and that they were ready. Seiho was well known for their defence. And now, it seemed invincible. Kuroko was in a real pinch.

Seiho's defence and stamina is what defined them and HBI's offence defined them but Seiho's defence outclassed HBI's offence. Little by little, Seiho started to score. Seiho was beating HBI by about 13 points when Kuroko thought of something. He gave Kiyoshi a nod and the second quarter started. Kuroko ran up as if he wanted to penetrate their entire defence and Kiyoshi followed like a shadow is supposed to. Kiyoshi gave Kuroko a quick pass when he was at the three-point line and Kuroko quickly passed the ball back.

Three Seconds Later

*Swish*

HBI easily scored a three-pointer and it was none other than Higashi Kiyoshi that shot the ball. Now, they had a fighting chance.
