Bottomless Depths 1

It was warm, so warm but the air was humid.

The sheer denseness of the forest, Eddra allowed his feet to take him wherever the place it desired to. He shrugged off every leaf that would touch his skin, disregarding the water drops that would fall on his shoulder.

He felt the very breath of his mouth was being sucked in by pure apprehension, the anxiety kicked in immediately when he entered the situation.

Terror showered him all over. He could barely hear any sounds from his surroundings with the beat of his heart was tangible—every pound ringing in his ears.

Loud shrieks then echoed the entire forest, breaking the concentration left in Eddra while he focused on running for his life.

"[Exit Dungeon]!" he bawled, absolutely agitated.

Ding!

[Transportation unsuccessful while enemies are nearby.]

"You wrench!"

As if an answer to his cries, Eddra heard an inferior scream of which was followed with threatening grunts beside him.

Immediately side-eyeing its direction, he saw a reptile with a head of a baboon running on four legs—the creature then open its jaw wide, allowing Eddra to see its sharp teeth.

Sending a much deafening yawp, it halted for a mere second. The baboon lizard deep squatted while it focused its strength on its legs and launched towards Eddra's direction.

'Shit!'

With him witnessing its acts, he stopped from his tracks and ducked in an instant—only a few seconds late, Eddra must have been the creature's chunk of meat.

Where was his confidence earlier? He wanted to throw a fist on his face by what he had acted a while ago to the baboon lizard's children.

"I did not know they were kids! Fuck!"

Eddra shouted on top of his lungs as he slid through the gap of a damp log before him and started hasting again.

...

Before the chase.

Approximately 45 minutes ago.

Ding!

[You have pressed 'Yes'.]

[Transporting to the Dungeon... ]

The cold wind washed him from his toes to the back of his head, tingling as the familiar feeling wrapped him and restrained him from making any movements.

A thin chilly smoke swarm from his feet of which was hurriedly followed by the shadows, long hands that were snaking and creeping from his legs through his shoulders—dragging him down into the unknown.

Soon after he descended from the ground, he felt as if he was being pulled out from his ankles and his whole body was wobbling. Shortly then, he fell on all fours in a moist land that had a rich green mat of mosses.

"Where...?"

Not minding the wetness on his hands, Eddra immediately surveyed his surroundings. The trees before him were taller than the ordinary ones he had seen throughout his entire life, and the ones that were behind him were much enormously taller than those in front of him.

The sounds of the insects were could be heard circling the whole area while his attention was drawn by an elongated body that was crawling near the stone beside him.

Ding! Ding!

[You have been successfully transported in the 'Abysmal Jungle'.]

[Dungeon Quest: Hunt Down!

Eliminate (0/2) creature(s) to unlock the exit.]

He stood from his position and patted the debris on his toes, his face scrunched from the contents of the plate. Well, truth to be told, he did have the feeling that the [System] would play its dirty tricks at him again.

Blowing out sharply, Eddra simply wondered how hard would it get to eliminate one since he had not seen a single creature.

'Okay...'

He called out the [Inventory] and grabbed his brother's sword then proceeded to make a choice to what path he would take.

Reviewing the difference between the right side that looked far more calming and not petrifying and the trees onto his left side, which was definitely hunting—Eddra chose the side where he felt he was safer.

He shifted his body and walked on the side of the forest where the trees appeared to be friendly but were only halted when a sharp flicker attacked him on his chest.

'What?'

Eddra rubbed the tingling pain and tried to proceed on walking to the path however he came across a transparent wall that was blocking him. He brought a hand and numerously patted the said wall in disbelief.

'What? So, I have no choice but to stormed down the dim forest after all?' His brows were drawn together.

"I see. I'm currently at the starting point, huh?" This [System] and its cunning tricks, Eddra just annoyingly proceeded to went on his way.

He walked and strolled a random path, letting his gut lead him the way where it would be supposedly safe for him.

With him wandering around, Eddra did not fail to notice the richness of the land. The whole forest was moist, the air was humid but it was warm. The ground was also matted with mosses, so was the trunk of the tall trees wrapped with the rich green algae.

The ambiance was something he hated though. It was too dim, and soon as he went deeper to the forest, it became even dimmer.

And before he noticed it, the leaves that fell on the moss were the same size as his torso and the trees started to look as if they had grown taller and bigger.

Shriek. Soft cries echoed through the air, dwelling with the loud sounds of the massive sized insects.

Eddra swayed his body and hid on a broad tree trunk. Avoiding to produce any noises, he took a peek at the two creatures in the distance.

He was paralyzed on his spot, his thoughts were fighting if he must take steps back. 'Should I leave? No, wait. I can't leave.'

More importantly, how would he identify the creatures before him? The [System] did not give him a hint about this. Would the command he had been using to check the statuses of the people would work on the creatures as well?

'[Status Check],' he stated in his mind to conclude his assumption.

Ding!

[Name: Baboon Lizard | Title: None

Age: 2 | Sex: Male

Level: 3

HP: 290 | MP: 0]

'Guess it is indeed working to them, too.' He read the information written on the plate.

Eddra monitored the two baboon lizards that were looking like they were playing by themselves. Comparing their height from afar, he concluded that the difference to their sizes was simply big. For certain, advancing in without planning the right measures would kill him.

He assumed the creatures were at least taller than 2 meters, and Eddra was hardly 170 centimeters.

'What would be a great approach to end these two? Actually, can I even wound them?'

What feared him the most was, surprisingly, the least amount of the menacing aura coming out from the baboon lizards were almost near Arundel's. Hardly and almost.

'No. Attacking both at the same time is suicide. I should distract one of them and eliminate the other while his friend is away.'

Eddra deep squatted on his toes and grabbed a rock that was the size of his fist.

'Why is this stone so big? Or should I say it is a pebble since every damn thing here turned enormous?'

He took a deep breath, he positioned his hand at the back of his head then threw the stone with all his strength. Although it flew a bit too far, the thump it created was loud enough for the creatures to hear.

The baboon lizards stopped the second they heard the noise. Exchanging a few glances to each other, one walked gradually on all fours towards the direction of the noise but was followed with the other as well, tailing from its friend's tracks.

'Wait! That is not what you're supposed to do—' His eyes widen while he witnessed his plan was not working. 'This is frustrating!'
