Rest

The next day, after they had all had breakfast, they decided to discuss their plan of action.

"I'm thinking about trying to go to Texas first," Ms. Croft suggested.

"I agree," agreed Ms. Carter.

"When do you plan on doing that?" Eric asked.

"Soon," Ms. Croft stated.

"But what about Ren?" Lorraine blurted out. "He's far from recovering yet."

"We may have to move before he is ready."

"No, that wouldn't work! Ren was the only reason we were able to pull off the last one!"

"Look, we need to move fast before they take any more people and brainwash them! We don't have time to wait around for him to recover. We don't even know if he will." Ms. Croft expression darkened. It may have seemed like she didn't care, but deep down, she cared very much about Ren. "I'm just trying to do what's best."

"Don't forget you have me! I gave Ren a run for his money when we fought!" Eric chimed in.

"That's right! We have Eric," Ms. Croft agreed. Ms. Carter let the others hash it out while she sat back and drank her coffee.

"Well, I'm not leaving until Ren's better." Lorraine declared.

"How about this," Ms. Croft compromised. "We'll wait until tomorrow morning. If Ren's condition worsens at all, Ms. Carter, Eric, and I will leave tomorrow morning. If it doesn't worsen, we will all wait until he recovers."

Lorraine thought it over. Either way she would be staying by Ren's side until he recovers, hopefully.

"Ok."

"Alright then."

The house was pretty silent up until the afternoon.

"Hey Lorraine?" Eric spoke up.

"Yes?"

"Want to go outside and spar?"

Lorraine looked at Ren who seemed to still be fast asleep.

"Why not?"

She stood up with Eric and headed outside.

She and Eric went all out and released all their pent-up emotions they were feeling into the attacks they threw at each other. The space around the house was frozen, then blasted apart with lightning, then frozen again.

They continued this until the Ms. Carter rushed outside.

"What's got you in a panic?" asked Eric. Just then they began to hear screams coming from inside the house.

"It's Ren!" Ms. Carter yelled.

They had both been so caught up in their spar they hadn't noticed the screaming.

They rushed into the house and witnessed Ren flailing and screaming in pain on the couch while Ms. Croft moved things out of the way so he wouldn't hit anything.

"When did he start this?" Lorraine yelled so she could be heard.

"Just now! He just all of the sudden started shuttering then began to scream," Ms. Croft explained.

"Ren, calm down. Try to ignore the pain!"

It didn't seem like Ren was listening. He kept on flailing and screaming in agony.

Lorraine moved closer to Ren, but Eric grabbed her arm and pulled her back. He looked at her and shook his head.

All they could do was watch in horror as he yelped and screamed.

He stopped about an hour later. Sweat covered his body due to all the effort he expended by screaming.

They decided to move him quickly into one of the bedrooms. As soon as they set him down, he started up again and his arm whipped around and caught Ms. Carter in the face. She was knocked back into the wall and her face began to swell immediately.

Ms. Croft helped her out of the room and into the kitchen to get her a bag of ice.

Eric pulled Lorraine away, who was now crying. He closed the door behind him, which helped muffle his screams.

"Well, it's decided," Ms. Croft pointed out. "We leave tomorrow. You alright with that Eric, Ms. Carter?"

They both nodded.

"Unlike last time where we just had Ren tear up the place and grab their attention, this time we are going to have to sneak in. We'll come up with a plan on our way there."

They both nodded in agreement.

Lorraine kept looking back at the room where Ren was. His screams where muffled, but still audible.

Everyone went to sleep in silence except for Ren's screams.

Ren screamed all night, keeping the other ups the rest of the night.

"Did you get any sleep last night?" Ms. Carter asked.

"Well, I got about two hours. I think Ren stopped around 5 in the morning," Ms. Croft replied. "Well let's start getting packed up."

Eric, Ms. Carter, and Ms. Croft packed some food and clothes and anything else they thought they would need and threw it into the van.

Lorraine stumbled outside to see them off.

"You guys be careful," Lorraine insisted. "Send me a text or something every hour. That way I'll know if you're in trouble or not."

"Sounds good. Take care of Ren," stated Ms. Croft.

"He better make it or I'll kill him. He still owes me for taking my life away from me," Eric scowled.

Lorraine chuckled at this, then waved as Ms. Croft put the van in gear and drove away.

Lorraine walked back into the house and into the room Ren was staying in. Ren was laying on top of the covers with just some shorts on. Lorraine thought this was best to try and reduce the heat as much as possible.

"I should buy a fan or something to blow on him." she thought. "In the meantime, I'll just keep the air conditioning on.

Ren didn't scream for the rest of the day, but he was breathing very hard. Lorraine tried her best to cool Ren down without freezing him.

After a while of this, and Ren seemed to calm down a little, she decided to take a shower.

She stripped down and stepped into the shower and turned on the hot water. She let the hot water spray gently on her skin as she tried to relax.

She stayed in the shower for at least an hour before turning the water off and stepping out.

"Hopefully Ren's still doing ok."
