Intense Fight (2)

The two men dressed in all black rushed forward with their sword in hands the second Laif descended from the tree. The men swung their sword at him at the same time, and Laif lifted his sword and its sheath to block them both.

His feet dragged backward from both men's strength and Laif gritted his teeth to focus his energy to block his opponents and push both men away from him but failed.

"H-uggghh!"

Unable to stand against their force, Laif took the risk to raise a leg and landed a kick on one of the men's stomachs. The man fell back on his butt and groaned, while his friend suddenly lost his focus to check on him.

Laif took a moment to take a breather. His gaze moved towards the man on the ground and saw that he was pressing his hand at his stomach.

The faint smell of blood permeated the air. Laif was surprised that his light kick was able to injure that man to that extend, but another thought suddenly came to his mind.

His kick has opened up an old wound.

Laif took a deep breath before he walked over to both men. He held his sword tightly, pointing towards both men as a warning. "This is private property. Who are you? How did you get in? Reveal yourself or I will not hesitate to kill you."

Both men exchanged a look before they turned to Laif with a determination that they have no intention to reveal who they were.

The two men stood up swiftly and lurched towards Laif for another attack. "Haah!!"

Laif moved backward to avoid their sudden attack. He spun around and swung his sword to counterattack, but his sword was unable to touch both men.

This time, the two men were more resolute to fight against Laif.

Before long, the three of them were engaged in an intense sword fight.

Laif could not help but marvel at the injured man's determination to fight.

The way he was pressing at his stomach told Laif that his injury was serious. However, this man was determined to defeat him and pass through the area.

Laif's gaze darkened at the man's attitude. He was afraid to imagine what will happen if both men found the Princess inside the woods. It was possible that they would not spare her life and killed her on sight.

The two men's martial arts and sword skills were very high that Laif found that he was having a hard time. If only he could use his magic, he would be able to defeat the two men in a few seconds.

However, at this time, using magic was something that he could not do. When he arrived at the lodging, Laif was able to sense the strong presence of blue and purple stones to suppress magic. If he was to use his magic, he will experience a backlash and it was not good for him.

He did not want to warn anyone that he was a magic practitioner.

For a while, he wished that he brought over Kain with him. At least his guard will be able to take one of these guys from him.

Time passed but their fight was nowhere near to end.

It has been a long time since he was engaged in such an intense sword fight. Laif knew that he had to do something before he was too exhausted to fight.

As he pushed one of the men away, Laif landed a kick on the injured man's stomach, causing him to stagger backward and winced at the overbearing pain.

The other man started to lose his focus again. Instead of focusing on Laif, he would go to his injured friend to protect him.

Laif swung his sword and launch his attack towards the injured man, and every time he does that, the other would lose his focus momentarily before he came forward to protect the injured man. This pattern repeated a few times that Laif was starting to grow curious.

He could guess that the two men were not any ordinary assassins. From the way the two had moved, Laif began to suspect that the injured man was important.

Suddenly, he was curious to know what was the injured man doing in the woods. He was determined enough to defeat him and pass through the woods. Surely, the two men had sneaked into the woods for an important mission.

His eyes narrowed and Laif knew that he needed to check the identity of the two men.

Swiftly, Laif twirled and move to pull off the injured man's mask but failed.

The injured man's eyes grew dark with anger as he guessed at what Laif was trying to do. Before he was able to make a move, a small knife flew towards him. As he was trying to avoid it, the knife touched briefly just below his ear.

His mask fell on the floor and a line of blood appeared on his cheek.

"Who are you?" Laif frowned as he gave the man a look over.

Laif thought that the man had a familiar face, but he was could not recognize him at all. Sensing his companion approaching them, Laif turned around and pointed his sword to both of them.

The companion looked at Laif with wary as he walked over to the injured man.

"I'm alright," the injured man spoke. He stood up steadily and watched Laif with a piercing gaze. His hand moved to wipe the blood on his cheek. He looked at the blood and sneered. Then, he tightened his grip on his sword and lurched to Laif for another attack.

"Haah!"

Their swords clanked again as the metals met.

This time, both the injured man were attacking him alternately. Their attack was much fiercer. Laif received a few blow and cuts on his arms, stomach, and thigh from both men, and he returned the same favor to them.

Laif knew that he did not have much time left. He needed to leave and look for the Princess. He landed a back kick on the companion, causing him to stagger backward.

Then, he fished for another dagger hidden in his clothes and threw it to the companion.

The dagger pierced him on his shoulder, causing him to halt and wince in pain. The companion's expression turned black when he noticed that he was unable to move his body. He was poisoned!

Taking his chance, Laif He moved quickly to the injured man before the companion could join in the fight. The poison on that dagger was only enough to hold that man off for a few minutes.

Soon, the injured man backed to a tree.

He gave him another merciless kick on his stomach, attacking him on his injury and soon the man leaned on the tree, gasping for air, Laif raised his sword high, ready to give him a fatal blow.

"Stop! Stop it!"
