My answer had made the poor girl blush but I'm a married man and she's but a child. So nothing but a teasing smirk to lighten the mood of meeting a mass murderer. My smirk has the opposite effect though as Marcus I think JUST made his pants a mess with a shit brick. Good direction we're going I can already tell! Samuel looked at the situation and thought this was still salvageable, but it's not there's a boy called Ash. This kid is fuckin juiced up with protagonist bullshitery magic event causing powers.
Looking at them all I decide to extend an olive branch by explaining my role. As it's not every day they'll get to talk with a legend, mass murderous monster or not.
"As Danielle said I'm Dakota Cartson, Arceus's enforcer, her grim reaper. I enforce the balance to the highest degree on all levels, not even my siblings escape judgment. My group Silence is well over a century old and is my scythe to enforce things indirectly. This is my team Vala is my scowling knight, Ruin is my moody teen daughter hating all that is love and joy, Lockheart my upbeat spinning basher of faces, Jewel my bipolar love bug of violence, and Rascal my pranking thieving son."
My team spoke up with short replies after my introductions. Their reactions were varied but the smirk in their voices was there at my teasing jabs.
"I scowl because everything is so damn fucked and I am your knight."
"I am not moody! I'm just picky… Very picky about my mood and what I like."
"Let's get along~! Just don't be bad or I'll crush you into pinball sized meatballs with my psychic powers~!"
"Dakota I'm not bipolar I'm just protective, forget that and I'll rip your stomach out you damned bastard. Love you though."
"Missing anything? Or feeling something new on you? "
Looking at them I raise an eyebrow before we all chuckle a bit. We really aren't child friendly honestly we're pretty deranged. Our little charade though seems to have helped just Gary had to speak.
"Hmph you're just a monster in human skin with pokemon abilities. Why would Arceus even make you? Ever since I've met you, you've not once shown any sort of trait that'd make sense for why you exist. You're just rude and a killer."
Gary's words caused the five of us to stare at him, even Samuel looked at his grandson. He couldn't believe what he just heard from his own grandson towards a family friend. Samuel was about to speak when a bone covered combat glove stopped him. Dakota had released his powers a bit, entering what he likes to call "Stage One" of releasing his restrictions. The bones covering his attire now with the faint cyan green flames sometimes flickering from his feet. Released a pressure that caused the kids to start shaking.
"Gary Oak, you're still a brat sucking on his mothers teats so I'm not going to HURT you. But I will not let you an outsider mock what I am. Arceus didn't create my soul, she created my body and offered me two choices. I'm what I am because I chose this path. You are a mere child that thinks he's so smart, because his grandfather is a world renowned professor and former champion. ARE NOT ONE TO SPEAK LIKE YOU'RE HOT SHIT TO ME, WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE THAT PRIVILEGE. YOU'VE NOT EARNED IT. SO THINK OR PAY A PRICE FOR THINKING YOUR HOT SHIT, I'VE MURDERED CRIMINALS MORE HOT SHIT THAN YOUR GRANDFATHER."
My words started calm and cold then got heavy with a clear meaning, my bloodlust washing over Gary weakly. The kid dropped to his knees struggling to breath as his skin started turning blue. Then as if it was all a lie the pressure vanished and I was back in my base restricted state. Looking at Gary indifferently before looking away as if he is a speck of insignificant dust. This really hit his pride along with my words as Samuel looked surprised. He wanted to speak up but Vala spoke in a cold tone towards the older human male.
"Don't try to argue with him. Your grandson overstepped his bounds and touched on a subject he has no right to mock. Defending him and letting him nurse that ego will get him killed, if you care then break it."
Samuel couldn't speak up under the piercing glare of the avian female. The only who could was Ash and his words only turned Dakota's mood colder. That Rascal had to try and disarm things.
"Hey! Don't speak to Gary like that even if he can be a jerk! Why do you even have to kill when you're a legend anyways?! Can't you just end things peacefully?!"
"Ahaha kid… The world isn't so kind for that and some just aren't worth letting live anymore. We've had a looong while to do things and well if someone just outright threatens to cause the world to end. Then blood will spill for it to stay standing. Dakota may not like it much but he's a soldier and battle sworn, he will not play nice for such people. The lightest punishment he's given was a complete memory erasal, turning someone into a babbling shell of their former self."
Rascal's words were tired and depressed as he chuckled helplessly, his mustache sagging a bit. Hearing him the kids looked taken aback as they just couldn't get what he really meant. Samuel clarified things for them and gave his grandson a depressing smile.
"Children, what he is trying to say is that Dakota's role is not easy, he can settle things peacefully. However, what they usually deal with are those intent on remaking the world anew by slaughtering countless lives. So they can't afford to be gentle; they have to strike hard and quell those ambitious individuals with no time for peace talks. As lives on a grander scale could all simply be gone in an instant, as these individuals are either humans, pokemon, or even a legend.
Gary you're rude remarks though truly hit a touchy subject. Dakota may be a legend but he was once a human of a different world that has taken up the mantle of the grim reaper willingly. His reasoning being something I can only agree with just because the price is heavy if it was anyone else. Part of that price is watching his older siblings die Gary, leaving him to protect their torch bearers virtually alone throughout eternity."
Hearing Samuel's words Gary took a step back as he wasn't expecting that. The young boy looks at his grandfather with wide eyes as he tries to comprehend it all. The other children were also surprised but seemed to get it a bit better now. Ruin though gave Gary one vicious stink eye with a snort as she looked at the boy. Seeing his arrogant smartass have his ego jerked out from under him then smacked with it. Made her glad he learned some lessons as he looked honestly ashamed of himself.
When they were all about to continue talking the world around them seemed to undulate. The air around them shifted colors before the scenery completely changed. Around them now stood an army of various creatures fighting something. A closed door above them in the air with light seeping from the cracks. Dakota looking around quickly recognized the various figures and their exact copies. It wasn't long before they noticed them either, and one came running over with a torrent of flames.
The flames striking a zombified Staraptor from the air into cinders and ashes. The figure wreathed in flames was a burly black and gray Blaziken with scars along their legs. Seeing them the kids and Samuel looked surprised but Dakota spoke immediately.
"Guardian Gina, what's the situation? Why are there six copies of the Guard Reapers from multiple dimensions?"
"Lord Cartson, I'm from D2 and the situation is currently dire. D6 is on the verge of being destroyed due the Knights of Arceus causing its Executioner to lose control temporarily. So the Executioner of D6 requested the help of five other Executioner's and Guard Reapers. The Executioner's of D2, D9, D32, D60, and D12 are here but the situation is only worsening. The undead are simply growing to fast that they're contemplating erasing D6 and its Executioner. However, they requested Dialga and Palkia to call for you the Executioner of D0."
"So death ran rampant due to the knights? Understood then, I'll shall step in to help as I am not afraid to pay a rather painful price, neither should they but five fucking versions of me to help and they all chicken out on it? It'll give the other five a chance to effect the remaining undead. Relay my orders to everyone, guard my guest and the dimension door. I shall be heading to the front lines not as death but life."
"Yes!"
The Blaziken took off quickly to start relaying the command. The various people and pokemon seemed to focus harder at this and began forming tighter ranks. Their attacks becoming more point focused. Various weapons and energies that once seemed scattered over the area, become a uniformed wall. Dakota let out a deep sigh preparing for what he's about to do. The others besides his team looked around lost but he paid no mind.
All at once he released his power instantly changing into his unrestrained form. His military uniform taking on a formal bone covered military look. Breathing in deeply then exhaling the feeling of death he emitted changed drastically. His appearance changed once more to a golden white duster uniform with engravings representing life on it. The ground beneath his feet became vibrant with life, taking a step forward the vibrant life spread rapidly.
Each of his steps caused life to seep in to the soil growing various plants. From his duster he pulled out a white and silver magnum revolver. Aiming forward pass the heads of the protective wall of creatures. He fired a shot, the bullet spiralling from the barrel with a sonic burst. A vibrant green trial behind it as it zipped by their heads into the undead sea. The bullet impacted a zombified Articuno and then the impossible happened. Death was reversed on a wide scale, Dakota's figure walking pass the wall of bodies into the sea of dead.
Bullets firing at random causing masses of dead to turn back to life in an instant. The undead near them burning into ashes from white fire of life. At the sixth shot the other Executioner's had appeared with ragged looks. They took one look at him and knew his goal but they had to make sure. As it was not something they should lightly do even the original shouldn't. But here he was doing so knowing the punishment to come afterwards. they felt ashamed of themselves but glad to dump it off onto someone else.
"You're really risking the backlash? For ten million lives?"
"Yes so you lot be ready to erase all those still dead."
"Thank you zero…. I'm sorry"
"Just fix it all and do better or just let your dimension be erased."
Saying no more the six Executioner's acted as one, with Dakota firing six more rounds of vibrant green bullets when he suddenly turned to head back. The remaining Executioner's gathering their energies together. As the dead closed in on the now returned to the living masses, waves of death energy washed over the dead five times. Each wave covering every inch of the dimension, dead once alive to feast dropped and became dust.
While back with the group Dakota dropped to his knees closing his eyes. His life form fizzing out back to death once more, the backlash started then. His body combusted into life fire burning his flesh and organs. He did not scream he gritted his teeth as the force of life ravaged his body for stepping out of his domain. Samuel wanted to step forward however a slash in the ground by the usually playful Rascal stopped him.
Rascal shook his head as he and the others boxed Dakota in, the flames of life growing harsher. At the one hour mark of the force of life burning him to his core Dakota let out a pained hiss. Two hours he forced his body to stand as the flames consumed him. Ten hours the flames were dying out, showing his charred form. Fourteen hours later the flames died completely leaving behind a bleached white skeleton. He seemed to have died but almost instantaneously he rapidly reformed.
Standing once more in his full unrestrained form he slowly switched back to the base restrained form. Rolling his shoulders and cracking his neck he let out a scream.
"THAT FUCKING BURNS LIKE A MOTHER FUCKER! FUCKING SHIT MOTHER FUCKER! LIFE IS NOT FRIENDLY ITS PAINFUL!"
His cursing aside he was now perfectly fine with little lingering pain from his punishment. He shouldn't really step onto life's domain fully but he had, and paid a price for every life he reversed from death. Not sticking around the Dimension Door opened and the space undulated once more. The surroundings returning to their once normal scenery, Dakota then visibly sags tired. Sitting down onto the grass he rubs his head a little.
"Don't, just don't ask. I stepped into something not of my control and I paid the price. I am death not life, life will take its dues for using it if you're not life's deity or blessed. Also fuck you Ash I hate your fate bending ways already."
Complaining, I take out the cold storage device with the mega-stones and throw it to Samuel.
"Open that and let my team take their stone, it's a birthday present. Also possibly a historical event to occur."
