A Rainy Night

Dr. Whatson had never seen Gene in such a mood. He actually seemed excited. He wasn't sure what he was going on about, but things were getting really serious. Gene gathered his people together.

"Jambre isn't safe, our very lives might be at stake," he said.

"Good lord, Elam, how do you know this?" Dr. Whatson asked.

"You could say I just received a telepathically issued challenge. The person believes I have violated their rules and wishes to strike out against me. All of you are implicated I'm sorry to say."

"Can we fight back?" Dr. Whatson asked.

"Of course but this opponent is extremely deadly. The plan against the Dygons and the old monsters in Jambre is known by her betrayed."

"By her?" Dr. Whatson asked.

"Who is her?" Alfar asked. Poole gave him a displeased look which caused him to shrink back.

"A person who knows all of my secrets."

"That's pretty bad isn't it, Elam?" Dr. Whatson asked.

"It's bad, but it's not the worst problem."

"What's the worst problem?" Dr. Whatson asked.

"Ultimately, she isn't the person we're facing. We are fighting someone whose mind is so brilliant that if you were to compare me to him it would be like comparing a firefly to the sun at noon."

"Good lord, that's terrifying!" Dr. Whatson said.

"Our enemy's forces are unknown, he has a servant who is brilliant and knows all of my secrets, and he has no intellectual equal. Are you scared yet?"

"Elam, I was scared the moment you said we were facing someone who knew all of your secrets," Dr. Whatson said.

"I might be able to help you escape."

"Please, aren't we lifelong friends, you think a little death will scare me off? I'm made of sterner stuff than that," Dr. Whatson said.

"Ha-ha, I knew you would say that. We should get ready."

"Wait, isn't anyone going to ask me if I want to escape, because if you ask me I will tell you 100% I want to escape," Alfar said.

Poole slapped Alfar upside the head. "It is the duty of a servant, and especially a slave, to stand next to their master in life and death. I can see you still need training," Poole said.

"Poole, Castling."

Poole nodded and he seemed to get fuzzy for a second. Gene looked at Poole for a moment. "Porter, time to use steel body."

"Porter, one of Poole's clones, grew a foot taller, his muscles bulged all over his body, and finally his skin turned silver.

"Everyone, you each have a red box, please remove the red box and open it. In the box there are instructions, follow them to the letter. Don't talk, everyone gets busy right now! Alfar, I need you to send a message to our allies.

Everyone took out red boxes. Dr. Whatson's eyes grew wide as he looked at his instructions. "Elam, what is this?"

"An ace up my sleeve that she doesn't know about."

"I thought you said she knew all your secrets." Dr. Whatson said. Everyone was listening to their conversation.

"She knows all my secrets, but that doesn't mean she knows all the secrets she knows."

"I don't understand," he said.

"Neither does she, and that is going to save our lives. Now, everyone, you have your orders and we don't have much time.

An hour later everyone was still working, Alfar walked over to Gene and whispered in his ear.

"I barely knew him, she's really ruthless, to think she would kill him."

"Who did she kill?" Dr. Whatson asked.

"Alcibiades Flamma, I met him on my way to Mikasa Sukasa. I intended to recruit him, but I guess I won't be able to. He would have been a powerful addition, but he wasn't a good man either, so whatever."

"Alcibiades Flamma?! Did you meet him? He is a great hero level warrior! He's famous." Dr. Whatson said.

"He's dead, now if none of you want to join him you should concentrate on your tasks.

Dr. Whatson went back to his station where he was concocting some medicines. His equipment was a mixture of traditional artifacts and technological devices. He was producing large red pills and putting them in large plastic bottles.

After finishing his work on the red pills he started working on making other colored pills. Once he was done, he gave everyone a medicine pack filled with the pills he just made.

He went back to his medicine table and made special pills with his blood. The pills were dark Green and brown. Dr. Whatson wasn't pleased by the smell or look of the pills, but he still packed them into his own medical bag.

Porter and Alfar were preparing weapons, and he kept his steel body active the entire time. Porter delivered several weapons to Dr. Whatson in a weapon bag.

A large cannon was placed on the ground next to the weapon pack that could be worn on a person's back.

Gene was making his own preparations, he was placing a large number of jade tablets into a storage ring. A strange but large helmet was sitting next to him.

The dark purple Helmet was like a large oval but given hard edges on the side and on the top. The center of it had a large circle like an eye.

He continued to mess with the helmet before finally placing it in the storage ring.

He paused for a moment and looked around at the people in the room. Everyone was working hard preparing for the battle to come. He let out a sigh. It was the first time he had comrades.

On Earth, he was always fighting by himself. He hoped he would have more time to get their strength up, but they weren't given the time.

This might be the last time he sees some of these people. Out of all of them present the one he hoped would survive the fight the most was Dr. Whatson, his first friend in two lives.

As he was thinking he heard the sound of water splattering against the window.

"It's raining," he thought.

Lightning flashed and the entire wall in front of him exploded! A beautiful woman dressed in a brown hooded robe and dull silver and leather armor with a sword jumped into the room and struck the sword toward Gene.

Gene jumped back and brought out a shield in time to block the sword strike. "Not bad, I was told your fighting ability was trash, but it looks like you've been practicing," Jawan said.

"Who are you?"

"I am Jawan, Keeper of Laws, Enforcer of Commands, and Executioner of Righteous Fury!" She said.

"Dammit, she sent me one of those damn Superheroe fanatics I can't stand!" Gene yelled. A hi-tech hand cannon appeared in his right hand and he shot it at Jawan.

She dodged, easily evading his shots, and sliced his gun apart.

The sword was coming at Gene once more when a large steel hand stopped it.

"Porter, good timing," Gene began when Jawan sent a front kick knocking Porter back. At that moment the lightning flashed and when the bright light disappeared, there were three other women present.

The women went to attack each of the men.

"Alfar, come to me!" Gene yelled. Alfar rushed to Gene when a slender feminine hand appeared over his face. The woman's eyes glowed and she smiled with laughing eyes. Alfar was blasted back.

Another woman, who was as big as porter ran up to him and with large battle hammers started hammering him. The final woman attacked Dr. Whatson with arrows. He dodged the arrows and retrieved his Series 3 Revolver. Everyone was battling.

Gene was fighting Jawan when she slipped past his attack and grabbed him falling through the opened wall into the dark and rainy night. Dr. Whatson managed to land a hit on his female opponent and ran to the missing wall and looked down. He couldn't see anyone below.

"ELAM!"
