Crynn POV
Acromantulas held many colonies in the forest, these colonies are commanded and controlled by the oldest, biggest, Elder Acromantula. In such case, Aragog controls the entire network of Acromantula colonies in the Forbidden Forest. And each minor colony is controlled by another bigger acromantula subordinated directly under Aragog himself, though not sporting the intelligence Aragog has, these bigger Acromantulas are more brawns than brains as they attack with their vicious pincers and present their hunt to the whole colony.
These colonies are stated around the center, main colony. Six colonies surrounding a giant colony, protecting their rightful ruler, Aragog. Each small colony houses up to 70 individual Acromantulas that hunt on a daily basis and returns to the colony to present the sustenance to the whole colony. The acromantulas are notorious for making giant burrows in the ground, a place to stay, eat, and breed.
"Hooh... Quite the long trek through the forest," I'm perspiring under the hot sun that penetrates through the small crevices by the tree leaves. This forest is truly huge, I've been in here for quite a while travelling only in one direction, marking trees so I could find my way back. "I think it's time for a breakfast," I slumped down on a tree root, placing my suitcase down, lowering my sword beside me. I grabbed a piece of big, hearty, piece of sandwich and quite messily munched into it.
As I was enjoying a couple of sandwiches which is absolutely delicious, I heard a strange clicking noise like two ceramic balls lightly hitting each other, quite like a sound you'd here from a Newton's Cradle. I quickly closed my suitcase and jumped back up, hearing the noise getting closer, I leaned against the tree, occasionally peaking behind the tree, where the noise is heard. And there it is ladies and gentleman, standing 5 feet above the ground, an abominable construct, 8 eyes with a variety of sizes is embedded in the creature's triangular head, 8 lanky legs holding up it's fat figure. It's pincers hitting each other wildly, with a strange metallic liquid the colour of mercury, dripping down to the ground, causing nearby plants to immediately wither.
"Calm down, you can do this," I said, trying to calm my trembling figure down, I could smell the stench of raw rotten meat from the acromantula. As I hear the clicking nearing me, I gripped the sword tighter than ever to directly slash if anything were to happen. Spoilers, it did. Large strong, muscular pincers, biting horizontally above my head, directly crushing, the tree trunk. Wooden shards splintered everywhere around me, gathering my courage, I brought my sword down and sliced the pincers right off the acromantula's head. Screaching, growling? loudly, I brought my sword down in a flash of light and the acromantula is no more, laying down lifelessly, it's dicapitated head staring right to my eye, I can see, pain and anger through those lifeless, black eyes.
"Whooh, I thought that was going to be harder," I genuinely thought it's gonna be more of a challenge, not this piece of cake kill. I wiped the sweat off the temple of my head. It's probably gonna be harder if the spider could shoot webs and venom, speaking of venom. Acromantula venom is really poisonous which give rise to the idea of extracting it. Getting a glass jar from my suitcase, I squeezed what I could from the acromantula's sliced pincers.
"As I expected, the poison is not an acidic poison, it's a biological poison," I nodded to myself, seeing that the poison did not corrode the glass. It's not the same as snake venom, snake venom is consisted of several hundreds of proteins that are toxic to the human body. Acromantula venom harbors tiny creatures in them that can coexist with acromantulas sort of a mutualism symbiotic relationship. The tiny creatures in the acromantula seeks food, and the acromantula in turn uses these little creatures to poison it's prey. Pretty simple right? I read it up on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a book by Newt Scamander not the one by J.K. Rowling.
(A.N : That's me giving a BS explanation, totally not real. Any magical creature information that I might give are taken from the HP Fandom and my OWN ideas.)
The fact that it's labeled as an XXXXX class beast is more towards their social behaviour in grouping up, their individual abilities however, is not that difficult to fight against, an Incendio will scare off an individual acromantula, the danger only comes when you fight a group of them. Harry Potter escaped from the acromantullas only because of his Chosen One attributes which translates to, he must not die of any cause before defeating the Dark Lord, and if any life threatening danger is met, Fate (J.K. Rowling) would intervene.
I can say that I would definetly die facing off a group of acromantulas in their central homebase. I'm not Harry Potter, that's why I need the centaurs to help me. "Time to move," I walked while still tightly gripping my sword in case of any emergencies. Eureka! I see a group of them, 5 acromantulas are spotted in the far distance. "Time to display my Hitman abilities," I smirked to myself, getting near them, I threw a rock in the distant away from the group. As expected, the assumed leader, commands an acromantula to go check it out. A friendly advice, always check things out with a friend or have someone accompany you, especially in suspicious circumstances like this.
The acromantula crawled towards the source of the noise while I gently walked towards it. The acromantula won't see what's coming! The acromantula, crawled further from his group, spiders are known for having bad eyesight, using its touch rather than sight to navigate. As the lone acromatula is now far away from the rest of his group, I sneaked behind it, not making even a single noise, the area is quite albeit a few clicking noises, but no other sounds are heard in the zone. The acromantula sensing nothing turned its head to head back to it's group, when sudddenly. A sword pierced right theough its head, instantly killing the unsuspecting spider.
I smirked once more, "One down, four to go."
