Adjuvant Got

Calian POV

"I beg your pardon?!" Jill sounded as if she couldn't believe what I just said, so I'll repeat once more and another and the next if she needed me to. "I said, quite clearly that in exchange for your acceptation of my invitation, I'll tell you your future," easily said, just as simple to understand, a precious transaction which is cheap for me, expensive for her.

"So, what say you?" I asked while still waiting on her response, she's cutely and nervously biting her bottom lips, she's thinking too hard on this. "I'll need a while to think," she finally made a decision that annoys me. Come on, really! I'm saving you from a very terrible future, just accept it please! "It's YOUR future, not mine, it's YOURS. Don't you want to know your future?!"

I tried my hardest to ask her once more but it seemed that her mind has infinitely made up, she really needs to think it through first. "I said I'll think about it," Jill sighed and looked a bit reluctant, anyone refusing to know of their future and postponing it to an unknown hiatus would surely show some bit of unwillingness to part with such valuable, priceless information.

"I'll give you time until before we escape this city, not after but before," I started turning around to head to the elevator, sighing when Jill gripped my wrists. "Can't you give me more time? 5 days? A week maybe?" She showed her most adorable puppy dog face, I feel like an arrow just pierced my heart! Darn you Cupid!

"It's not that simple, I'm leaving right after everyone safely had safely boarded the helicopter. Rules of the Gods, don't blame me," I showed her a cheeky smile before proceeding onto the elevator with her, surely my statement would lead to her agreeing faster. I pressed the button and slowly, the elevator rotates and ascended to the upper floor.

"Have you guys waited long enough?" I appeared out of the elevator looking as jovial as I could even if I'm a bit disappointed by the turn of events between me and Jill. "It's been an incredible long 10 minutes Calian, we now know more of each other," he stretched his hand towards Kendo and Dr. Nathaniel Bard, not forgetting to flash his watch to signify his 'lost' time.

"Hey, did you know that Kendo here is ex-CIA," Carlos excitedly said out and Kendo blushed in embarrassment, I would like to be CIA but I'm sadly owned by the Kingsman. "I know that!" Jill suddenly answered the question that doesn't need to be answered because it's rhetorical but fine by me. "I'm an ex-CIA armorer not an ex-CIA agent."

"Everyone, please. Can we move on? I believe we're currently still being chased by time," Mikhail said and I looked around, hmm. We're at a walkway complete with handrails to look down on the cultivation tanks, fancy. "That's the monster meant doc! Is that a G-virus inhabitant?" Jill suddenly yelled while pointing to the end of the walkway, a zombie is slowly creeping out of the door.

The head of the zombie is covered entirely with overgrown flesh and a big orange eye in the middle, around it are Venus flytrap mouths, ready to defend the eye if necessary and finally, of course, the tentacle dangling on the back of its head. "Yes, that's it! The G-Virus! Quickly eliminate it!" On the orders of the doctor, everyone shot freely on the eye.

Everyone including me gave it no chance to close the Venus flytrap mouth and it got destroyed! I guarantee that it will be unable to open its eyes anymore in the span of a lifetime! Slowly, the flesh melted into bloody aqueous substances that fell from the walkway down to the lower floor, that's utterly disgusting.

"Don't touch the slimy liquids, lest you get infected by the G-virus and no one can save you," the doctor warned solemnly and walked to the door, stepping over the sludge on the floor as did everyone else. We finally entered the room which is a bit freaky. On the left and right sides, there are culture tanks filled with living beating hearts in them, hearts the size of a cat.

A few research desks and a big freezer with multiple test tube holders inside. "It's here," the doctor said and pulled open one of the glass freezer doors and took out a tube holding a light blue liquid in it. "Adjuvant sample got," the doctor remarked with a smile. "Ok, back to the vaccine synthesis lab space to collect my bag of vaccines."

"Wait a minute?! You mean the bag of vaccines has always been back there?! Why didn't you grab them first then?!" Jill asked out, and everyone was thinking the same thing, safety hazard perhaps? "I personally don't want to risk taking the vaccine with me on my hands when we are out here searching for an antigen and an adjuvant. Now, we just need to get the vaccines and I'm happy to say goodbye to this city, I'm sure everyone does too."

Everyone silently agreed to the doctor and I followed them back to the synthesis lab, I'm genuinely curious to where the doctor actually hid his vaccines in. The doctor relaxed and walked into the spacious room with a big smile, approached one of the walls and pulled a segment off. What came out behind the segment is a small lens, what's he going to do?

He positioned his right eye in front of the lens and red light begin to sway back and from the left and right of the retina. Retina scanner, huh, pretty neat. The moment a beep sounded, another compartment opened! This time it's a touch pad that appeared out of nowhere. I'm guessing it's a fingerprint scanner this time! And I'm not correct yet not wrong either.

It's not just a fingerprint scanner! It's also a palm scanner, how advanced! After another beep passed by, this time a compartment opened to reveal a small speaker in which Dr. Nathaniel Bard spoke into, "My name is Dr. Nathaniel Bard." He arrogantly spoke and the loudest beep beeped and the whole wall slid open to reveal a hidden safe!

Everyone stared in amazement and I even caught Carlos muttering, "What sort of sci-fi bullshit is that!" Especially in the 90s right?
