Portal to Everywhere

Crynn POV

"So, everyone ready to go?" Mr. H asked. I'm pretty sure I'm all set, all my affairs should be just about done so no worries there. "Err... I'm ready, I guess. I've sent a letter to my brother who would no doubt read it much later," Newt Scamander scratched his head awkwardly as the unspeakable nodded towards everyone.

"Let's go," the unspeakable spoke and led everyone away. The three of us quietly walked down multiple corridors, no one saying a word. Aria looks excited, Newt Scamander not so much and I, I officially hate Egypt so... for the sake of the hidden mission, I'll try to be hopeful, hopefully no more Anubis guards and traps, I'm sick of them already.

Mr. H opened up a silver double door that looks more significant than the other doors excluding the rotunda doors, of course. Truly not disappointing, we entered a room with a moderate sized circular stage in the middle surrounded by two giant floating rings. Next to the stage is two men sitting on a chair facing a wide array of control panels while chatting enthusiastically.

But the most eye catching was the large map of the world with an area of probably around give or take more than 50 meters square covering the wall. "Technics! Stop talking, you have work to do!" The unspeakable shouted from the door and the two men immediately responded, "Aye aye boss! Where to?"

The unspeakable showed them Brasidas Malfoy's drawn map and pointed at a cross on Egypt. "Okay! The coordinates should be right!" The man sitting on the left exclaimed and a yellow dot appeared on the large world map on the wall, specifically over Egypt. "Now, you three get on the platform."

"This device is called the 'Portal to Everywhere'. It can transport anything and anyone to anywhere on the globe! Whether it's the limitless ground, vast oceans or the blue skies down to the depths of the Earth, this device can take you everywhere through a manmade portal, thus, the 'Portal to Everywhere'," he sure sounded proud explaining the big stage and Newt Scamander is certainly amazed.

"Doesn't that mean, the Department of Mysteries Operatives can ambush anyone anywhere?" I questioned, because truthfully, this machination doesn't sound one bit legal. "Ahem... Let's not think about that first, focus on your task!" the unspeakable cleared his throat and avoided answering the question which is a big bummer.

We got on the circular stage and stood right in the center of it. "Technics, launch!" Hearing the affirmation from their head, the two men directly pushed two large handles connected to a rod, up. Following the movements of the two men, the two giant rings also started to rotate around the stage and the higher the men push the handle, the faster the rotational speed and force is.

Soon enough, the two rings started to glow blue and spread it out to form a completely spherical bubble, entrapping us inside. "You're about to be transported to the coordinates based on the map! Don't worry, this is nothing like apparating, no twists, you'll land on two feet! Goodbye and good luck!" Mr. H waved and in an instant we were gone! Pzeeeu!

Pzeeed! As the unspeakable said, there really aren't any twists, not like apparating at all and we do land on two feet. The problem right now, was we're in the middle of the desert, facing a very high canyon. "We're here, but no structure," I said out my opinion, there really isn't any structures.

"Maybe it's like Hamunaptra, only showing itself at a certain time, the dawn of daylight," Aria whispered beside me, it's been long since she talked but her words do have some verity. "Ah! Great! Ehm... let's move closer?" Newt Scamander came up from behind me and said, right, let's move closer, perhaps then, we'd have results.

It's a good thing I bought this wizarding robes which looked like muggle sits to me but let's not judge because it is doing a hell of a great job cooling my insides, making it seem that the hot desert is like a normal walk in the park at 5 AM. "Hmm... Still nothing. Maybe... Patefacio (Google Translate Latin to Unveil)."

Newt Scamander said the spell, waved his wand and a massive protective shield around the canyon broke open, revealing the grand building hidden beneath it! "My senses are saying that this place gives off dangerous and eerie vibes," Aria voiced out her view and I can't help but agree, this place does seem to radiate danger and creepiness.

"Worst decision of my life," Newt Scamander said as we strolled to the entrance of the building, still closed off by the very tall and also very wide, gate doors. "Do the honors, Scamander?" I grinned and cheekily said before stepping away, looking at Scamander sighing. "Call me Newt, Alohomora," I guess I'm going to calling and referring Newt Scamander as Newt.

But, is a simple unlocking charm going to do the tricks? Cheng! Something clicked beyond the walls and all of a sudden, the sound of gears, numerous, possibly tens if not hundreds of spinning gears behind the gate and also below us. Wait, I just realized all this time that, aren't gears invented around the 3rd century B.C.! Then how are there gears in Egypt then?! Or maybe those aren't even gears!

The large gate doors descended almost painfully slowly, going down by a meter every 10 seconds which is not very snailish but also not quick. About a few minutes later, the gate ended its descent, finally, felt as if I've waited ages at this very spot. The sun shone brightly into the building as we can see what's inside.

Not unexpected, the interior is filled with small sand dunes, probably from the effect of time. "Any sphinxes you can find in here?" I joked and looked inside the surely uninhabitable building, too much sand, and must have too much dust.

"Definitely not," Newt Scamander replied.
