Calian POV
I seriously have to say that rank us by firepower, Ariane would be number one right now. One, because she has a laser pistol that melts and penetrates metal. Two, she's a very good shooter. Combine those aspects together, you get quite a powerful lady. And it helps when she obliterates the head of the robot that just went out of the room.
"Looks like there is something really wrong here. These are all UCU and corporate employees. Brutally gunned down by what I presume were robots. Some have guns but are too surprised to use them, too late to pull them," Jill the investigator is on the case and has presented a few clear observations.
"We should continue carefully. Aria's shot is loud enough as to maybe alert some robots," Crynn called with his gun in the air, ready to blast some robotic heads. Bang! Bang! Bang! Three sudden shots by V into a darkish shadow of a corner, and a robot fell over into our line of sight. "Looks like my vision is better than all of yours," it's not our fault we don't have cybernetics.
Maybe, I shouldn't use my umbrella yet. I thought to myself, switching my umbrella over to my Kingsman pistol. Bang! Bang! Bang! This time, shots were initiated by Crynn at a far side approaching and patrolling robot. In fact, only 4 of us has firing distance while Jill needs to get at them close-up because shotguns have very limited range.
We began moving in this hall, a lot of these scenes can be easily reconstructed in my mind. For example, a guy sitting on a bench, next to him a blood soaked newspaper and on his feet, spilled coffee mixed with red and a porcelain cup, cracked into pieces. I deduce, this poor fellow was unsuspectingly shot while having a relaxing time reading the newspaper and having a cup of coffee when he was suddenly shot, 5 times on the chest.
"Can't say I'm sad or angry. All these men are sinful corporates at their time of living," V muttered in the silence though yes, seeing the worldly situation of capitalistic domination, I can definitely understand V's subjective view that yes, it's a high chance every single men that died here is sharks, sharks after cash, and cash only to themselves.
I am after all, a businessman, same as the rest of them and I'm naturally capitalistic as well. Jill want over and opened a door and promptly released a huge shot into it. Sure chance guess, there's a sneaky little robot inside. "Do you know what I thought my first time seeing each of you," that's rather random V, "Go for it."
"Jill, a police lady. Calian, a professional swindler. Crynn, by far the most ordinary of the bunch. And Ariane, sharpshooter," then, Crynn burst out laughing and I am left to contemplate how I could have such a bad first impression in front of her. "No offense Calian, but even with how god you look, there's this... creep aspect about you."
Is this the feeling of having my mind clouded by black thunderstorms, humiliation! Utter humiliation! "I'm not a creep! I'm not a swindler! Everything I said to you until now are at least 90% true!" I argued and ignored the remaining 10% which is just about our fake background and some other insignificant stuff.
"Well..." V chuckled and stopped there which frustrates me, why won't you continue? "Stop the banter, let's get moving, see a map anywhere?" Crynn pushed in between us, two of his hands in the air. "Right, the map. The map, is probably right over there," Ariane sheepishly pointed in a direction.
What direction you asked? The direction where a dead body is currently leaning down on a pedestal, blocking some sort of blue light with his head. And worst of all, it's bloody as heck. "Jesus Christ," Jill sighed in resignation as she stepped to the pedestal and promptly shoved the body down on the ground without touching it too much.
With the body out of the way, the blue light can pass through, forming a holographic interactable map. Sadly, the controls on the pedestal are all covered in red darker than ay paint or any flower. "Yuck," Jill hissed before pulling a towel out of her inventory (who knows what she stored inside it) to wipe all of that out of the way.
"Let's see... Lunar Gate," Jill typed on the digital keyboard as a red dot popped on the blue map together with a yellow dotted line going from our current position to the Lunar Gate Control Chamber's position. "There, follow the instructions, get to the Lunar Gate, see what's up, finish up, we get out and you, V will get whatever your desire points," Jill said to us then to our friend as she shrugged and we proceeded onwards.
I mean, this is turning out to be like some creepy alien game where I'm the only one left alive in a big ship or space station where everything is bloody and monsters suddenly appear for a jump scare or two. But this is Cyberpunk, a game without aliens, or any biological creatures except humans so I shouldn't worry too much.
On our route, we had some confrontations with a load of robots and to our prideful abilities, we defeated every incoming wave and finally after a few escalator rides and an elevator ride, we made it to the Lunar Gate Control Chamber, just a door away from us. "So ready to go in?" Ariane said before anyone made a move to even put a hand on the door.
"Why wouldn't we be ready, this is what we've been waiting for, isn't it?" Crynn spoke with conviction in confidence. "I don't know what to expect, what should we expect?" V sighed as she gazed at the door, trying to peer through it. "Some hidden secret, probably," I said because that's what we're here for right, hidden secrets and uncovering them.
"Either way, let's open the stage," and push, the final barrier, opened.
