Determination

I entered the living and sat on the couch in daze. I was thinking about the letter and who sent it to me. It didn't take me long to realise it could have been my evil family excluding my father. I know he would never stoop this low, maybe he would, so just in case I didn't disregard the thought.

"Mommy, I am going to do my homework now." Mia told me. I nodded and asked if she needs any help, but being the smart girl she is, she shook her head.

I sighed momentarily and then rubbed my temple. 'I should take a nice shower and prepare snacks' I thought.

I walked upstairs and went into my room. My room was fairly large, had a big red bed, a wooden desk, a wardrobe and there were multiple designs plastered on the walls.

"My dream was to enter the world of fashion but now.." I muttered with sadness.

I was quite lucky to find such a comfortable house that even had a two bathrooms, my room had one of the bathrooms. Bad luck didn't stop me from having a job and a nice home.

I took off all my clothes and entered the shower. My aching back and tense shoulders relaxed once the water touched me. 'What will my life and Mia's be ten years in the future?' I thought worried.

My long, waist like hair sticked to my body and looked like it grew longer. I turned off the shower and dried myself with a towel. I captured my reflection in the mirror and smiled.

"At least I still have my beauty from the past" I chuckled dryly. My curves were still curvy, my chest wasn't saggy because of having a baby, my eyes still held that sparkle glint, my skin was still flawless with no hint of blemishes, my lips was rosy as ever and my hair was so blonde it looked like the colour of the sun. I'm glad I excersised after the birth of Mia.

I got dressed and wore a simple white dress, and wore black flats. My hair was held in a high ponytail and I applied my daily cream.

Once I was done, I went downstairs and prepared food. I made two chicken sandwiches, strawberry smoothies and placed a packet of lays on a bowl. I looked at the clock and saw that it was 15:40. I checked my phone but switched it off immediately, not wanting to read the hurtful comments of my child and I. I clenched my fist in anger.

'Those people will definitely pay!'

I then controlled my anger and called Mia down.

We ate snacks and talked happily.

The day went by rather quickly. When Mia and I had our snack, watched TV and played together, Mia began to get sleepy so I carried her to bed.

It was now night time and I read my book, waiting patiently for Alex to arrive.

Finally the doorbell rang and it was Alex. I led him in and gave him a cup of orange juice.

"You took longer than I expected." I said and took a sip of my cup.

Alex sighed. "Yeah. My coworkers were bombarding me with questions of my past rich life and the press was even outside. Not to soon there will be one, outside our house's." he explained.

I stiffened by what he said. I didn't like the idea of Mia and I being asked so many questions and even harrassed by the presses comments.

I also sighed. "I didn't want this to turn into this outcome. Can you believe that I got threatened today" I chuckled dryly.

Alex widened his eyes and sat next to me. "Wait what! How dare they! What did it say? I will investigate and find the culprit." he said in anger. I shook my head. "I don't need to think about it because it is obvious it's from my stepmother or half sister's" I told him and gave him the letter.

He clenched his fist as he read. "Let me guess it was also them that told the press about you." My shoulders sunk. "It.. was...Rihanna" I whispered.

Alex grabbed both of my shoulders and shook me. "What! That Rihanna! It must be a joke right?" he said.

"Yes it was her. Now stop shaking me" I said and took his hand away. "I can't believe she would do this. I guess we can't go to the party, right?" asked Alex.

I sighed and patted his head like I used to do, when we were younger.

I didn't notice an emotion that passed Alex's eyes, but it went away. "Hey stop that!" he said and slapped my hand away.

I pouted and rubbed my hand. "You are no fun. I guess we have grown" I said and sank my eyes.

"Yeah we have grown. You have grown, from that spoiled daddy's girl to a responsible mother." Alex said softly and suddenly caressed my cheek with his thumb looking lost in thought. Alex used to do this when we were young, it was comfortable and cute. But now I felt the atmosphere had a certain something, that was definitely not foreign to me.

"Alex is something wrong?" I asked and this caused Alex to snap back to reality and he retrieved his hand from my face.

He cleared his throat. "Yeah, I am fine. So about the party, are you going to attend?" he asked looking at me intensely.

I fidgeted a bit, and bit my lip. I thought about the pros and cons thoroughly.

'If I go to the party the letter may really be true to its word. Actually, knowing my evil family they would still do something against me, regardless if I go or not. Add to the fact, I have Alex, who is a detective, he can help me and protect me. If I do go, I can make a spectacular appearance and show them, I am not afraid of them and not embarrassed of my child or current life.

I answered Alex's question with determination. "Yes, I will definitely go"

Alex nodded at my conviction. "So will I"

Right at this exact moment, a tall handsome man was looking up at the sky on a luxurious balcony. The man was handsome with his well defined face and jaw, flawless skin, pink lips and wavy midnight ink hair. The most captured feature of the male was a pair of rare silver eyes.

"Master are you going to take your flight?" asked a middle aged Butler to the attractive male.

The male smirked. "Of course, I wouldn't miss it for the world."
